DRAMAtical Murder
ドラマティカル マーダーSome time ago, the influential and powerful Toue Inc. bought the island of Midorijima, Japan, with the plans of building Platinum Jail—a luxurious utopian facility. Those who are lucky enough to call it home are the wealthiest citizens in the world. The original residents of the island, however, were forced to relocate to the Old Residential District; and after the completion of Platinum Jail, they were completely abandoned. "Rib" and "Rhyme" are the most common games played on the island. Rib is an old school game in which gangs engage in turf wars against each other, while Rhyme is a technologically advanced game wherein participants fight in a virtual reality. To be able to play Rhyme, you must have an "All-Mate" (an AI that typically looks like a pet), and the match must be mediated by an "Usui." Aoba Seragaki has no interest in playing either game; he prefers to live a peaceful life with his grandmother and All-Mate, Ren. However, after getting forcefully dragged into a dangerous Rhyme match and hearing rumors about disappearing Rib players, all of Aoba's hopes of living a normal life are completely abolished. Nor bad but could definitely use a season 2 to explain more of the plot. Go into more relationships might help too

It honestly isn't a bad adaptation. The worst thing about it are the doofy animation errors. This clearly wasn't the highest budget animated series. It sticks pretty well to the visual novel, but it doesn't have much depth to it as a series. If you want a well thought out anime, look somewhere else. Putting that aside, if you want a quick story without depth and cute light gay elements, this will suffice.

Story was meh, mainly because of the overly-yaoi shit, despite an interesting setting and very interesting characters. Clear is the best character, but the harem around the sensible blue-haired guy is just unnecessary.

It was painful to watch, the game was a lot better but warning there are a lot of dicks.

I played the game so it wasn't very interesting, but it was funny when the animation was raw XD ( before the remake) The derp faces and crappy hands were just hilarious x'D

Not as best as the game, but it did have some touching parts in it; it's not that bad!

In all honesty the anime version is pretty bad compared to the game. However, if you want a "family friendly" version of DMMD Then this is the anime for you. A run down of DMMD Is that our protagonist Aoba lives on island called Midorijima in Japan. He plays a popular game called Rhyme and meets a bunch of other players that want to have "relations" with him. Now, if you don't choose the "right" choices Aoba will usually die in some weird grotesque way. Also, note that in the anime the animation is literally drawn by a five year old. Finally, if you play the game do not screw the dog. please.

When I heard DRAMAtical Murder was getting an anime all the way back in the very beginning of spring, I was happy. Of course, I never played the games or saw anything more than what the characters look like, but because I like BL, this garnered my attention.
When I saw the PV, I was even more excited. The PV was really cool! And I was really excited for what the show would bring.
The story is pretty good. Seems pretty original, and it gets better as time goes on. We find out more and more about the characters later on. At first, we don't really know anything. But later, as plots twists are unveiled, everything makes sense. It takes a psychological tinge around episode six. There's a psychological tag for a reason, and they pulled it off quite well if I do say so myself. Of course, this show is still AIRING as of this review, so it still has some time left. But, the story is pretty good. I really like it, and since I haven't played the games or watched people play the games, I am shocked and do not know any, if not, nothing about the story. So, I'm that one girl who doesn't even know what's going to happen next. I don't look up the game story because I don't want to be spoiled. That's how good this is to me.
This is the downfall: the animation is an absolute stiff mess. Running scenes aren't animated at all that well, and it's as if this is secretly animated by SHAFT because HEAD TILTS in random places. Of course, this is not SHAFT. The actual game company is doing this anime, I think. So, the animation isn't done very well. It's very stiff and I don't like that. I watch this one in full screen compared to in my browser because I need to do that. So, if you want a well animated show be warned the animation is the downfall. Also, the art is okay. Nothing spectacular. The art is very typical of BL. That's a downfall.
I'm not going to comment on the sound. Except that I guess it's good. I don't pay attention to that.
Now, the characters are pretty cool. I LOVE Aoba. I love the kid... (he's 23. He's not a kid, but I will call him a kid because I am mean.) There's just something about him I love. It's his personality, I guess, but you gotta love the kid. He's got a good head on his shoulders, and the reason he doesn't like Rhyme is revealed later. So, don't just assume he doesn't like it for the sake of not liking it.
Koujaku is very loyal. You have to admire a character like him for that reason alone.
And all the other characters are cool. I love Aoba's grandma, too. I don't even know why. I just do. But all the characters are really likable. You just have to get used to them at first. They grow to you easy, even if you're like me and haven't played the games.
Just a note: I don't think there's going to be any sex in this anime. I think all we're gonna get is that one kiss. I don't think it airs late enough for the broadcasters to allow sex scenes or something. But, then again, that's my theory, so I don't know.
You'll really enjoy this anime if you want something different and the adaption you've always dreamed of--this is the definite anime for you.
Don't listen to the people who call this "a pile of shit". It's good. Everything except the animation is good.

In the area, there is a known virtual reality game that happens in real time. Around these games, there are gangs. Our main character blue boy dislikes these games, but is often curious. Before not long, he's sucked in and has natural(?) talent.
This could have been a lot better. I understand that it's based on a yaoi BL BL dovey gay game. However, the characters show no depth. Every time they talked, I felt like puking.
The animations were just a little better than okay. You could see they put some effort into the designs.
Sound? I felt like there was too much. Sometimes it felt like they forced sound where there shouldn't have been any.
Characters? Shit. The downfall.
Enjoyment, NONE. I HATED IT.
Overall, this really could have been great. I liked where the story was going, but I could see the slope.
