Plastic Memories

プラスティック・メモリーズ

Eighteen-year-old Tsukasa Mizugaki has failed his college entrance exams, but after pulling some strings, he manages to land a job at the Sion Artificial Intelligence Corporation. SAI Corp is responsible for the creation of "Giftias"—highly advanced androids which are almost indiscernible from normal humans. However, unlike humans, Giftias have a maximum lifespan of 81,920 hours, or around nine years and four months. Terminal Service One, the station Tsukasa was assigned to, is responsible for collecting Giftias that have met their expiration date, before they lose their memories and become hostile. Promptly after joining Terminal Service One, Tsukasa is partnered with a beautiful Giftia named Isla. She is a Terminal Service veteran and considered the best in Giftia retrievals, contrary to her petite figure and placid nature. Time is fleeting though, and Tsukasa must come to terms with his feelings for Isla before her time is up. No matter how much someone desires it, nothing lasts forever. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Plastic memories can definitely bring out the feels with its tragic and heartwarming story that is focused in the future...I would highly recommend this anime to those who are attached to crying in front of the screen,However, Plastic memories' plot makes it seem for those who have quite an experience in tear jerking anime to say that "oh I've seen this before"or"Here we go again", the plot itself even in the very beginning makes it quite similar to all the other tear jerking series out there which can pretty much ruin the unique aspects of the series, specifically it lacks in originality or complexity that makes it so simple and very predictable. However I will not ignore the fact that this anime can still make you cry or make you want to cry.I'd recommend this anime for those who are new to this kind of anime or for those who just wanna have a heartwarming time, but I wouldn't recommend it for the experienced viewers.

It's rare that you see something with an interesting sci-fi premise like this with such a sad atmosphere.  Which makes plastic memories all the sadder when you do watch it.  Very good so far (review written at episode 5), interesting story, good animation, fun characters, all add up to a very enjoyable show.
End of show review: Personally I found Plastic Memories to get fairly bland towards the end, it's still good imo but they could of made it better.  If you like comedy, romance, and sci-fi then give this a go, but it wouldn't be on the top of my recommendations.

First off, I want to say I was excited when I saw a sci-fi anime was coming out this season.
If you're anything like me, you like science, you like robots, and robot science is the best of them all.

I love stories that touch on the relationships between humans and androids and where and why the lines can be blurred.
Let me spare you your time; this isn't one of those stories.

The anime's premise is that androids are in wide use, but they only have a shelf-life of nine years, so our stock well-meaning but clueless MC and his adorable assistant go around collecting androids that are at their expiration point and shutting them down while their weeping owners watch (because how else would we make the audience cry).

They also need to get the owner's signature in order to go through with the collection because naturally, if the compulsory return of expired androids were mentioned in a contract before they were bought, we would lose the anime's premise (even as we gained some logic points).

So far, the story has been half a pathetic try at tear-jerkers and half female characters whose breasts are bigger than their heads yelling angrily at people, because that's just what women do.

I must be fair and mention there are also loli characters because after all, we must appeal to a wide audience, so if gigantic breasts aren't your thing, there's always that.

While we're at it, I wonder how much the viewership would go down if the female and male work uniforms were switched and I also wonder if there's a reason why the physical testing of androids must be done in a pool.

The animation and the music are both decent, but if you want any sort of logic or a story that goes beyond the obvious in the very first episode (yes, our loli android is going to expire soon and it shall be oh so very sad - you might even have to use those tissues to wipe your tears for a change), don't even bother. The characters don't go beyond looking pretty, either.

In conclusion, if you only want fanservice, enjoy the show! I'm not at all opposed to it, I just hate when it tries to sell itself as something more, especially with sci-fi.

However, if you want an anime that explores the topic of androids without underestimating your intelligence and assuming you're only there for the animated cleavage, I warmly recommend The Time of Eve.

It seems some people on Hummingbird like to cry before they think. Lemme get everything else out of the way before I talk about the story. Characters are ok. MC is the worst of them all. I think the music was ok. Can't remember too well cause the story blew so hard. Animation is pretty good. All the characters are very expressive and lively. show so far has to be one of the worst premises I've seen in a long while. First off "synthetic souls" are bullshit, thats not what I have a problem with though. Why would the company make these "Giftias" if they would have personalities and then die in 9 years? Their only purpose seems to be to give comfort to old people and die. If you have to have this tearful retrieval of these Giftias every time then why do it? If the owners have to sign a waiver or whatever to get them to be taken away then why the hell not add a clause for purchasing one of them so that they have to be given back at the end of their lifetime? What I just proposed there would make this story pointless. What we need is better premises in anime. Not just some bullshit tearjerker with a random story like some other shows, *cough* Angel Beats. I'll update as this show gets worse.

I would appreciate nobody disliking until I finish this:

*After Episode 2*
Plastic Memories begins as though there isn't a care in the world and, despite Tsukasa being wet behind the ears, the future looks very promising. With an atmosphere as bright as a warm and clear summer afternoon, the production team commands the audience's attention as we are introduced to many vibrant characters.

Having already expressed my appreciation for this work, there were a few things that bothered me.. My biggest problem would have to be the clumsy writing the beginning and end of episode 2.

Spoilers: The manner in which Tsukasa and Isla interact with the mechanic and his giftia came off super clumsy. I get that they were trying to contrast Tsukasa's charisma with Isla's waning mental state but the shifting reactions of the mechanic was rather drastic and made me question why he frantically ran from them at the beginning.

All in all, I really enjoyed plastic memories. It has a special charm to it that will surely bring me back in the coming weeks. Happy streaming, everyone!

Its a guy apart of a robot decommission squad where the robots have feels. Kinda like a slice of life anime blade runner. Overall not so bad, if you're into sci-fi then I'd recommend you give it a try, although its a rom-com-drom slice of life with a side of feels.

Opening

Ending

About The Characters
thats the kind of characters i like in a Realistic Sci-Fi anime they have all the personality i like same for the secondary characters lets talk a little about it

Tsukasa Mizugaki / this is a nice main character , i like this kind of main character because they are not stupid they are just serious and funny at the same time he can be very kind and mature so thats make a better character i think for a anime like that

Isla / i like how she is clumsy thats funny to see and i like how she is short.. at the beginning she have make me laugh a little but anyway she is funny during all the anime and she can make coffee o: ! thats a very nice girl i will never forget her (time to buy a figure of Isla) you will probably like her too no doubt on it

Michiru Kinushima / thats funny to see how much she is kind and think about the others but she is just shy and a Tsundere so she hide this part of her but thats can be a nice girl too ! and pss... she can be cute a little.

Kazuki Kuwanomi / she is rude and scare Tsukasa and the others sometimes but i think she do right sometimes.. thats can be something we dont like but this is the right thing to do but she can have false

hills.lelia - 2015-04-08 14:56:09

I was expecting something way different from the title and looks of it....

*heartbroken*

edit: after seeing everything, it went from being pretty straightforward (im not the one to notice plot holes and whatever) to a very basic romantic anime show. still the ending was pretty sad, and if i were to compare it to, let say, angel beats, this is like the epilouge without the characters remembering each other and recognizing each other. like if nothing happened. thats kinda what happened in the end. spoiler as fuck.

the last few episodes were just pure romance between the mc and the heroine, at moments it was kinda boring since shit wasn't really happening. if romance, or well, sad endings ain't your thing, the show would just sell because of some cute character in it. it really struck me hard after seeing how mc handled it and how things were afterwards. its like everything between them and isla never happened.
