Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland

リトル・ニモ

Based on the classic Nemo comic strips by Winsor McCay. A pioneer of animation, McCay created the first Little Nemo animated movie in 1911. Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata were attached to this project at first, but left due to "creative differences." Ray Bradbury is also thought to have left the project in its earlier stages. Little Nemo - Adventures in Slumberland is the first Japanese anime to receive a national (wide) U.S. theatrical release. (Source: ANN)

Man, this thing seriously gave me such a scare as a kid that I couldn't even go downstairs at night if I forgot something. XDD

But luckily I've grown out of that fear and have come to cherish it as one of my childhood movies that helped in getting me into anime.

Thinking about it now it really gives the nostalgic feeling of Alice in Wonderland in the sense that the character undergoes a significant journey in a whimsical world derived of the things he'd experienced or imagined in his reality, and that help him grow as a person.

I would definitely recommend it for families as it's a classic that's a lot fun.
