Macross: Do You Remember Love?
超時空要塞マクロス -愛・おぼえていますか-A.D. 2009. The human race is in the middle of a three-way war with a race of giant humanoid aliens called the Zentraedi (male) and Meltrandi (female). After executing a space fold that sent it and part of South Atalia Island to the edge of the Solar System, the space fortress Macross is on its way back to Earth. During a small skirmish with Zentraedi forces, young pilot Hikaru Ichijo rescues idol singer Lynn Minmay and their relationship develops as they're stranded somewhere within the ship. But shortly after returning to Macross City, Minmay is captured by the Zentraedi, and Hikaru and female officer Misa Hayase end up back on Earth—only to view the aftermath of the destruction of their civilization. Only a song discovered eons ago—along with Minmay's voice—can determine the outcome of the war. (Source: ANN)

For an animated movie that is 33 years old, the animation was superb, the fight scenes epic in scale, the art style was amazingly drawn and very colorful, the story engaging and thrilling even though some parts may have been a bit cheesy.
I thought this movie was pretty damn entertaining to watch from start to finish, however though the romance portrayed in this movie is absolutely trash. It’s basically the main protagonist telling a random girl he barely know at all that he loves her before kissing her only to then 3 days later “fall in love” with another woman that he barely know at all either, it was seriously embarrassing to watch and i think that this movie could have done better without any romance whatsoever. I give this 4 stars because OVERALL it is very solid, minus the shitty romance parts, but i still highly recommend any of you to go and watch this movie.

While the movie version of Macross is not as great as the original TV show, it's still really close. If you don't fancy watching the show I'd definitely give the movie a watch. The story is quite different(But still great) and you will probably be completely lost for the first 20 or so minutes but It's still got the same themes, characters, and music, along with some high budget animation.
