By no means a classic, "must-watch" anime, if you like racing, robots and 80s OVAs, Dead Heat is a pretty good way to kill 37 minutes.

Like a lot of one-shot OVAs, there isn't a lot of time for character development so the plot feels pretty rushed.  The first 20 minutes build up the D-Level racing team preparing to enter a race with much stronger competitors.  The last 20 minutes are the race itself which is the best part.  Along the way there's some controversy over engine designs, and butting heads with a star driver.

Glad I watched it once, but doubt it has much re-watch value because of the forgettable plot and characters.
