Short but unbelievably beautiful.

Not only was the animation amazing in my opinion but the OST fitted perfectly. It tells the story in so many words without hardly any dialog, simply through visual medium.

There’s a lot of potential for this to become something more but with it being so short and ending on a sort of cliffhanger, it gives the viewer a lot of opportunity to decide their own ending to the story.

TL;DR: amazing, in many many ways.

I can't praise this short enough.  From it's stunning visuals to it compelling story, you can truly empathize with the characters.  It creates an incredible and heart wrenching story in a very short period of time.  The themes are deep and complex but conveyed in a simple way.  It's very clear that a LOT of passion and emotion was poured into these 6 minutes of animation, and it shows.  Shelter is an incredible short and has left me wanting more just so I can see Shelter's character's and world expanded upon.  It's only a few minute so if you haven't watched it yet, you should.  No excuses.  Watch it.  It doesn't have to be right this instant, but don't put it off long.  Seriously, just go watch it.

Before I start, for those who haven't, you can watch the video through the trailer on the page or on youtube as that's where it's from.
Anyway there isn't much to say about an approximate 5,7 minutes long video. But it excels at almost all aspects, why?

Story: It manages to convey alot through minimalist amount of time. Without spoiling anything, themes such as loneliness, post-apocalypse, childhood and parent relationship, reminiscing and waiting are some of the major themes seen here. It does a good job conveying them as well.

Animation: Animation style is quite good, and the minor use of CGI is not off-putting. You can see the didn't lack in budget regarding animation.

Sound: Well this is the main area this whole video is meant for, so clearly the music in this is going to be good. It fits quite well with the video and how it goes and as it developes. Even without the video the music is good, so the two together raise eachother up. Plus the music fits with the themes of futuristic somewhat uplifting but also the somehow sad tones in the video. Though I won't say more to avoid spoilers.

Character: There is of course not much to say about character as there is barely anything in regards to time to make one. And to avoid spoiling anything, even those few minutes for those who watch it the first time, I will not say more about it.

Enjoyment: Well I enjoyed it thoroughly. It can almost bring a tear to your eye when you reflect on it while watching it. Whenever you want quick feels, this is the way to go.

Overall I will give it 8/10 for being a very good music video essentially. It is on par with that of the Daft punk album movie interstella 5555. It is of course not long enough unlike Interstella to create a more full-fledged story and characters without dialog, but for the amount of time it has, it does a darn good job.

How to tell a story in under 10 minutes? Shelter shows you.

This is a 6 minute animated short/music video, animated by A-1 Pictures (ERASED, Shinsekai Yori) and written by musician Porter Robinson.

The story is about a young girl that is in a virtual reality world, and it shows us what happens with and within this world. It was constructed by her father so that she would live a peaceful life while the world ends. Shelter uses up its short time perfectly showing you a sweet and tragic story.

This short anime has an amazing atmosphere and emotions that will take effect really quickly, catching you off guard. The music is really enjoyable, it fits well with the setting, even for me as I am not a big fan of electronic music.

The animation is truly beautiful, very colorful. I wish this was longer, but this isn't really a complaint.

In the end watch this, you won't regret it, even if you don't end up liking it, it's so short you won't lose much of your time.

This was abit of a surprise.

From start to finish this was a really enjoyable ride. Perfect in its execution of telling you a story with little dialog. We see the fate of the world fall apart, and a fathers dedication to save his little girl in the only way he can.
Forever alone, Yet never alone.
