No. 6

NO.6[ナンバー・シックス]

Many years ago, after the end of a bloody world war, mankind took shelter in six city-states that were peaceful and perfect... at least on the surface. However, Shion—an elite resident of the city-state No. 6—gained a new perspective on the world he lives in, thanks to a chance encounter with a mysterious boy, Nezumi. Nezumi turned out to be just one of many who lived in the desolate wasteland beyond the walls of the supposed utopia. But despite knowing that the other boy was a fugitive, Shion decided to take him in for the night and protect him, which resulted in drastic consequences: because of his actions, Shion and his mother lost their status as elites and were relocated elsewhere, and the darker side of the city began to make itself known. Now, a long time after their life-altering first meeting, Shion and Nezumi are finally brought together once again—the former elite and the boy on the run are about to embark on an adventure that will, in time, reveal the shattering secrets of No. 6. A beautiful, and unique anime with an unforgettable characters. The anime is a bit confusing and while the character relationships are very developed the plot isn't as good leaving lots of empty holes.

I feel like this was a well made anime with a well thought out story-line. I feel that how they introduced characters and how they developed them was interesting. Personally the only thing I found a little frustrating with the whole anime is that the ending left me wanting more. I feel that there a story just as great that would have taken place after this. Besides that though I think that this is a wonderful anime that has adorable and at the same time frustrating romantic progression. I also really want to cosplay Nezumi~ =^x^=

So. This anime. THIS ANIME. I really, really wanted this show to be good but it just wasn't. Such gorgeous animation! Such an air of mystery like some sort of beautiful dystopian fever dream! God save the writers of this show. First of all, can we just talk about how Rat treats Sion like shit? And Sion just takes it? Rat deliberately withholds information and physically, emotionally, and mentally abuses Sion throughout the entire series. I think it was supposed to be romantic but it totally fell flat with me. Secondly: HOLY DEUS EX MACHINA BATMAN. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you are expecting a big reveal at the end that explains what the deal is with No. 6 and makes sense in the context of the world building--be prepared to be disappointed. I would, however, recommend this show if you like: yaoi, dystopias, angry handsome men with black-and-white morals, piles of dead bodies, plots that leave you to infer 90% of what just happened, BEES, and dogs breastfeeding babies. (None of which are my cup of tea.) Anyway, that's my two cents.

I fangirled too much from watching this because Nezumi was trying his best not to let others know that he loves Shion, but he failed.

Another anime that I liked to watch from start to finish. It was great to see the evolution of the relationship between Shion and Nezumi (a deep friendship that becomes a passion) and the mysteries that surround the city. The construction of the secondary characters (Inukashi, Rikiga and others) was very well made, they were not only as a backdrop, had his role in history. The end made me sad and surprised me a little. Before you watch the anime I've seen people saying that the ending is sad, so I thought one of them would die. At the end they don't die but separate. Probably, Shion went to live with her mother (Karan) again, and Nezumi returned to her life before, and who then would meet again.
It's a cool anime to watch, it's funny, mysterious, and has a novel (not very explicit). Surely this anime stayed among my favorites. Recommend you watch if not watched yet.

Cool, thrilling and face paced anime that should be marked as a MUST WATCH. I love the idea of a dystopia city and elements of oppression, suspense and fight for freedom in this anime. Keeps you engaged from beggining to the end, No. 6 is one of my favorite animes ever. The futuristic aspects and bits of sci-fi arouses excitment and adoration for an adventure.

Fan girl moment comes first: Oh m ma ge WATCH thissss!

The anime is pretty good, considering that it came from BONE. First off the story is pretty interesting and have many aspects that gave it individuality, which many of the anime, that came out at the same time, was not able to do. True there are plot holes, at the end, but i blame that on only giving it eleven episodes. Eleven! The original light novel has nine volumes and seven for the manga itself. Considering that the show has no fillers, it relatively short and henceforth cause the rush ending. Other than that it was pretty good plot wise.

Shion and Nezumi are two unique characters that although they contrast each other, but they also complement each other like a married couple. Wink wink cough cough ;).

The OST was pretty forgettable, but complemented the anime well.

With flaws and all my recommendation stands. I mean its from BONES, there this something pretty different about this. Just wish that i had more episodes or even another season. BTD I really did not dewell into the whole anime because there is already a synopsis and I'm just hoping to get more interested in this. So... go watch it!

No.6. An interesting name for a series; the air of ambiguity to it definitely sparked my interest. The series, a lot like the name, works with a palpable shroud of uncanniness, and it is something, of which, I have enjoyed about No.6.The series takes place in a modernistic and seemly ideal society with futuristic technology. Protagonist Sion, grows up in the newly built, ideal city of No.6. All citizens wear ID wristbands that holds functionalities like that of cellphone, and the government tracks the movements of all inhabitants. Through-out the series, this "big brother"like world shows it's darker qualities.Shion, age 12, grew up as a privileged young boy, and is among the smartest of his age group, even so to be allowed to live in the elite area of "Cronos"; it is shown he has a bright future ahead of him. This all changes when he gives shelter to a strange boy, Nezumi, who later reveals himself to be an escaping criminal. Despite appearances, Shion clothes, feeds and helps Nezumi; the two have a clear bond. Nezumi vanishes the next day and leaves Shion with the trouble caused by harbouring an enemy of the state; Sion is stripped of his privileges and forced to move.Four years pass by and we see, a now 16 year-old, Shion as a park worker. He witnesses the mysterious death of his co-worker and is taken in my the Bureau of Security, only to be saved by Nezumi and taken to a post-apocalyptic-like setting known as "Lost Town".For the most part, the story works well. However, there are definitely moments that leave you scratching your head. The overarching involvement of a mysterious deity is one such instance, but other plot points like the corrupt nature of No.6 manage to balance out the near wackiness.High production values are definitely characteristic of Bones works and No.6 is no doubt part and parsel of the Bones experience. Backgrounds are very well done and animation manages to be fluid all around. I love the character design for Nezumi (Ponytails are edgy!), and for the most part, Shion, but the pink scar-ish thing seems like they are just trying to give continuity and justify the reason he got his awesome white hair.Hmmmm...the sound. While I love the opening for the series, a lot like the artwork, some of the backing tracks to scenes don't quite fit and feel out of place; this proves to distract from the overall impact of certain scenes. Some of the pieces are definitely done well and enjoyable; I am listening to "Spell" (the opening) as I write :D.The characters of Shion and Nezumi work well together. Both portray aspects of the other as well, this is something that other Anime tends to slip up on, that the characters all fit a set archetype and deviate little. Nezumi is a level-headed, frank and cynical person and Shion is innocent, naive but determined, this is putting it a little bluntly. The friendship that they bear is seemly unrequited, of course in saying this, they could be described as your typical odd couple; this is merely on the surface as the extent of their loyalty and similarities shines through even Nezumi cold words on society. It is a strange relationship, but it works and proves to be an interesting "selling point" of the series. And yes, there is a homosexual vibe to the whole ordeal, but it is so insignificant that it really doesn't even warrant this mention.I enjoyed No.6, the ending is a definite sucker punch, surprising and not in a good way, but even given that it is still something that warrants a look-in.

When I first started watching this anime I loved it, it had a great plot and i was always looking forward to the next episode, but after about 4 episodes it just went down hill in my opinion, it just got boring. I gave it a go a watched all the episodes but it didn't live up to what i thought it could be.

It wasn't a bad show but it could have been better. If you want to watch this show go ahead it's not the best but it is still worth a watch.

lehner.aliyah - 2013-03-16 23:02:15

Of course BONES was the production studio behind this, this is a sci-fi with a complicated looking plot. Or so I thought before watching the series. It may look like another cool sci-fi adaptation but what's intersting about the story is that while the premise is interesting, the characters relationships seem to be the focus of the anime. This is definitely original - quite a few of the episodes actually have more of a slice-of-life feel to them rather than sci-fi - but whether it satisfies all tastes is a matter of opinion. I might add that even though the series had a few scenes geared more towards yaoi fans, it's not off-putting for all of us who would rather avoid the genre as a whole. Since the focus of the anime was predominantly character relationships, they had to make the viewer emotionally invested; and of course they pulled it off spectacularly. Though having one of the main characters as a pessimist who only sees the world in black and white and the other being an idealist who wants everyone to get along as a character development is generic and very predictable, it works for this anime.Since the story and characters were done well enough, sound and artwork fall right into place with the studio being BONES who are more than experienced with animating an array of series (having evolved from just handling mecha anime).
