Of the Digimon franchise, I believe that Digimon Frontier is the best of them all.
For starters, I thoroughly enjoyed how the season moved away from the traditional human/Digimon partners scheme. In previous seasons, the partnership always meant that the Digimon were doing all the work while the human children - the main characters - were actually just plain useless. Digimon Frontier changes this by merging the two; the human children themselves are given the power to Digivolve and save the world with their own hands.
The Digital World itself is much better thought out than the previous three seasons. Whereas in previously, Digimon interactions were mostly limited to allies and enemies, we are now given the chance to see how the native inhabitants of the Digital World live their daily lives, such as hunting or fishing, living in cities, and even running restaurants. Overall, season four of Digimon simply has much more color and perspective than previous seasons.
The characters are also given more depth, particularly for Koji, and Koichi. Despite being a show aimed towards children, the character development of these two in particular goes pretty deep, touching on divorce and diving into family.
Throughout the show, Digimon Frontier also touches other moral values, such as race, regrets, and bullying. For a show aimed at children, it is rather deep, yet so well crafted that it can be called nothing but a masterpiece.

Most events remind me so much of the older seasons, but I still enjoy it so much! And the theme songs are so good. (The Japanese ones)
