Watashi no Coffee Samurai Jihanki Teki na Kareshi also known as Coffee Samuraiis a thirty minute special about a samurai called Jin who had been reborn as avending machine and a woman called Hemi who falls in love with him.

Story - 2/10

We start off with Jin, as he meets his demiseas a samurai in the Sengoku period. Fast forward several hundred years and wefind ourselves in modern day Seoul where Jin finds himself reborn as a vendingmachine. He meets a woman called Hemi who takes him to her house whilst drunkwhich leads to the start of their story together.

When it comes to the story, it is quitebipolar. One scene we would see Jin and Hemi going about their daily lives andin the next scene we would see Jin in a fight and in the scene after that, Jinwould be having a coffee with his enemy. It needed to make up it's mind on whatit wanted to do. Because of this bipolar, It made the horrible pacing moreprominent. Horrible pacing can usually be forgiven considering the amount oftime it was given but in the case of Coffee Samurai, it was so bad that I hadto laugh at it.

Animation - 2/10

The animation isn't anything to rave about butit's to be expected with a low budget special. The jerky animation is quitenoticeable and there is a lack of any background animation. Once again, it wasso bad I had to laugh at it. The background art was quite nice to look athowever but it still feels a bit plain.

Sound - 2/10

The sound is poor. A lot of the time thecharacters would just be grunting. Any time someone raised their voice orshouted we would be greeted by noise full of static which got quite painful onthe ears. The sound effects are very basic and cheesy and the background musicis barely noticeable most of the time. It does have a nice song mid episodethough.

Character - 1/10

The characters were extremely bland anduninteresting. We get to watch Jin and Hemi warm to each other which was kindof nice but nothing special. Jin's personality softens as we progress throughthe episode as he becomes more protective of Hemi. Hemi's personality staysbland from the beginning to the end which made it hard to get attached to her.Other than those two, our other characters include a zebra and some polar bearsand well, we can't really get any development from them.

Enjoyment - 4/10

Enjoyment wise, Coffee Samurai wasn't all bad. There were moments which successfully made me laugh and I found myselfinterested in the unique story. However, the main source of enjoyment for mewas laughing at how bad the episode was overall.
