Descendants of Darkness
闇の末裔Even after death, life is full of paperwork and criminals. Tsuzuki Asato is a 26 year old, happy-go-lucky, and dorky shinigami (god of death) whose job is to makes sure that those who are dead remain dead and stay in their proper realms. Even though he's had this job for over 70 years, he is in the worst division with horrible pay. He also has a knack for not keeping partners (since shinigami work in pairs), but now he seems to have one that will stick around; stubborn, smart-mouthed, serious and defensive 16 year old, Kurosaki Hisoka. With each case they investigate, they come closer to the conspiracies of the serial killer Dr. Muraki Kazutaka. Tsuzuki's relationship with Hisoka is growing stronger and closer...but there is a dark past to how Tsuzuki died that will not give him peace. (Source: ANN)

Descendants of Darkness is a supernatural story with hinted shonen ai themes, akin to some of its more modern and popular counterparts, such as Uraboku. The characters and story are thoroughly interesting, and honestly, my only serious complaint was that it was too short. Dark pasts behind the flamboyant and angsty (and handsome) protagonists, a truly unlikable villain, intriguing plots with unexpected twists, and small shots of comedy are all positive qualities this anime has to offer.
Unfortunately, the length given to the stories is far too short, leading to rushed character development that feels a bit unnatural. Also, I watched the dub, and although I quite enjoyed it and thought it humorous, the antagonist's nasally voice was incredibly hard to take seriously.
Overall, this is a great anime that I will not forget quickly. It is worth the time of anyone who is a fan of the genre. If you are not into other similar works, this may not be on the very top of your priority list, but surely a fun time for a rainy day.
