ブブキ・ブランキWhen Azuma Kazuki returns to Japan after 10 years, he gets assaulted by a group of armed men and becomes their prisoner. Kogane Asabuki, a childhood friend, saves him with a weapon on her right hand known as Bubuki; a weapon with its own mind. Azuma Kazuki, who is a Bubuki user himself, learns about the existence of Bubuki and goes on a journey alongside the companions he has found, in an attempt to find and revive Oubu, a Buranki (titan) who sleeps underground.

In the world where Azuma is living now [earth], he seeks badly the way to return to his homeland where his mother lives. FYI, His homeland is the birthplace of Burankis (gundam-like / gigantic robots). His homeland is a peaceful island, aside from being Burankis birthplace, that nobody has stepped there before except Kazuma’s family. The world is in chaos everytime there is unexpected Buranki’s emergence. Buranki is impossible to stop with common military forces. It should be conquered by the same amount of power, another Buranki to take it down. Banryuu Reoko is the only person who can use Buranki, therefore military forces and even government fear and obey her with hatred deep within to overthrow Reoko’s regime over Buranki. Reoko itself curses Azuma’s mother by her deed before. Once, Reoko defeated by her and it made Reoko’s Buranki lose its arms and legs. Hatred everywhere, but I guarantee you feel no anger left behind in the end. Perhaps, it could be one of the sweetest mecha-scifi-drama series.
Faint sense, yet you can expect the drama is centered around the hatred and feeling each person has towards other characters. Thankfully, this series didn’t ruin me by adding romantic feelings. The love they have is focusing on their beloved relatives or partners. Although it sticks with the drama, not all of the characters overdo it. All of the characters are shown to hold some kind of emotions (which sometimes is good, and sometimes unfit too). The story reveals the truth in the end of the show, means that you need to be patient. At first, you may not rethink to double check the story or characters, be like “bunch of kids to objectify what they believe or desire.”
Something that has original thing planted always baits me. I often put it into must-watch list. Mecha-scifi isn’t a new baby-born genre. We all have that kind of mindset, when there are mecha and scifi, the action must be proficient to watch. Waiting for the battle scenes and expect it to be the most satisfying aspect, the visualization. Indeed, Bubuki Buranki has good graphic when the battle scenes start. I enjoyed the very drop of scenes with well-done effect, yet so opposite with the rest. (What does it mean by the rest?) The visualization aside from stunning battles is mostly done with CGI. Unlike other series, Bubuki Buranki has so many movements CGI based. You can look at the gentle hair got swung by the wind or body that moved swiftly because of CGI. I’m not against CGI as long as it can fit well. Alas, Bubuki Buranki has done too many unfit CGI for me.
(P. S. [is it a spoiler, isn’t it?]: heavy CG animation for Kogane-chan and a contrast of superb fight Shizuru-chan.)
The character development is in the same line with the story. For the beginning, no worries there. You won’t be bewildered just watching this, because the beginning is lack of progress. The hype is saved in the end of it, especially the story. Not much for character development. Since every character has their own issue and way to handle it with Bubuki’s fight (before united as team in form of Buranki), so the development feels episodic. Unfortunately, the minor characters that pop out in a rush have no proper introduction. Made it fails to give fast comprehension for us to understand the meaning of their appearances.
OP “Beat your Heart” by Konomi Suzuki & ED “ANGER/ANGER” by MYTH & ROID. The soundtrack and background music, ughhh, they’re alright. Personally like the OP song, don’t know why for sure. The voice actors were okay, I do believe that Bubuki Buranki isn’t going to be a role that the actors would want to brag about though.
I give 3.5 for Bubuki Buranki.
Pros:
The fighting scenes are decent.
The drama is not related to romantic feelings which is the plus for this show. Even without any romance, it can touch us with other issues. Nice ending.
I like the way insert songs put there. It slips nicely.
Cons:
The CGI is not overall. Focused more on the major characters, unbalanced.
Sometimes unimportant information explained made the show felt dull, and sometimes it is so rush, including the story and characters introduction. Boring for the beginning (feels like entertaining for children only).
I really am curious about the 2nd season but still got no free-time to watch it. Dang!

Well, I was not expecting to give Bubuki Buranki a 4/10 (2/5) when I watched the first episode!
For me, I try very hard not to hate on anime, and I generally only rank anime that leaves an impression on me...
My thoughts on the first episode was that it had a unique story line with amazing art (not so much animation, but I don't mind CG) so I had to watch and rank it...
But by each episode it got more and more tiring!
Characters, become 1-dimensional and stupid, pace slowed down to almost nothing happening at loads of times, loads of plot holes, character's just disappeared from the whole story, and it ended up all over the place!
I would have liked to give this anime a high rating, but looks like pretty art and good opening is all I can say that is good for this anime! The Story ended up being absolute crud after a bit, I would have dropped this, if it weren't for the art, I might drop Season 2, if it's worse....
If you feel my review wasn't well written, feel free to leave me any tips on my profile comments, I haven't written many reviews, so I'm still a little new to this, or if you have any questions, same goes, thanks for reading!
