Super Lovers or Child Grooming the Anime begins with the interesting premise of patchwork families, of how Haru's and Ren's childhoods have shaped their personalities: Haru's over-caring nature belies his craving for acceptance and Ren is fiercely independent but socially inept. It then chucks this theme out of the window in favour of shota smut. And I couldn't stop watching it. Because I'm a terrible human being. If you are a terrible person too, you will enjoy this anime.

Story: Honestly, the writing was beyond weak. The premise of the show is just a collage of below mediocre drama clichés and impeccably terrible timing of major plot events is devoid of any creativity. The taboo themes that they show essentially used seemingly as a last ditch effort to make the premise feasible is more sickening than legitimate plot themes.
The Animation: Surprisingly the animation is one of two things salvageable about the show. The animation isn't atrocious but it's not anywhere close to above average. The animation flaws in Super Lovers are run of the mill: "weightless characters", backgrounds that lack life other than the specified characters, ect. If there were any major "face melting", perspective, or anatomy issues they weren't memorable. The animation is closer in quality to those of the late 2010s, thus Super Lovers' animation is behind the times in terms of animation's progression.
Sound: The second part of Super Lovers that isn't super hateable. The ost is forgettable at best and does little to add to the show. To be frank, if I didn't double check myself I would have said there was none (ost) at all...
Characters: The character (visual) designs are "meh" but the way the cast interacts with one another (especially the two main characters) can be described as immoral and unrealistic. The family dynamics and general character interactions of super lovers is unnatural and often downright pointless to the story.
Enjoyment: This was my hate watch of winter2016 and it was a struggle to even get myself to complete episodes let alone the show. As someone who has decent morals, Super Lovers was beyond repulsing and I personally find this show one of the worst things I've watched, period. I believe the only groups could actually enjoy this abomination are pedophiles and people with incest fetishes with terrible standards in writing... I could go on a rant on how much this I anathematize Super Lovers or how much I'm horrified by its fan base, but that would be just as much of a waste of my time as the show itself.
Overall: The plot and main relationship is beyond immoral, it's criminal. I'm not exaggerating, the sexual relationship between a 13 y0 (later 16yo) and an adult ten years their senior regardless of relation is molestation and sexual relations with a minor (even with consent) are some of the most rightfully damning universal crimes. Super Lovers unworthy of being animated; and its existence and popularity makes a bad name for yaoi/shounen ai but for anime in general.

So obviously this is an anime about a sort of incestuous relationship between two brothers that are technically not related and one brother (Ren) seems to be quite a bit younger than the other brother (Haru). Now that was one of the turn off's for me because it seems like whenever there was a moment between them that was supposed to be "romantic" it turned out being creepy, but despite all of the cons there are a few things I enjoy about this anime which are animation + art, characters, and if you can get past the creepiness of the uke and seme situation then I think the fluffiness of everything else can be pretty enjoyable, but if not then I wouldn't recommend it, and if you're looking for a really good love story I probably wouldn't recommend it, there's better shounen ai/yaoi out there. I'm just saying it's not the best, but not the absolute worst.

I really wanted to like this. It has that Junjou Romantica look to it, it's from Studio Deen, it's SUPPOSED to have a good storyline... But the first couple of eps REALLY weren't for me. I quested why he kissed a child, but then I was told that he does grow up. Okay, fine, whatever. But the story still really wasn't there for me and the characters are so basic. If this show came out around the time I was 14-15 years old I would fall so fast for this show like I did with Junjou. But now as a 19 I've came to terms that JR's story is piss poor and the Junjou Romantica romance line (Usagi x Misaki) is kind of problematic. This show's story and romance isn't any different and I'm really sad about that.
Maybe the show gets better later on, but it's still a yaoi anime pushed towards people who are 13-15 years old. If you've been into yaoi around the years 2010-13 you know what I mean.
