Zakuro
おとめ妖怪 ざくろOtome Youkai Zakuro takes place in an alternate version of Japan's Meiji Era. In this version of history, humans and spirits coexist side by side in the same world. However Japan is becoming more and more influenced by the West, and more people are accepting Western religions as their chosen faith rather than the more traditional Eastern faiths which have dominated the country for many centuries, leading to conflicts between humans and youkai. To help ease tensions, an organization is established called the Ministry of Spirits made up of a group of male soldiers and a group of female youkai. Unfortunately things don't go as swimmingly as one would hope, as one of the soldiers, Kei Agemaki, is terribly afraid of youkai and one of the spirits, Zakuro, has an extreme dislike for humans who accept practices and traditions from the west. Life for these two is about to become a lot more interesting as they have to learn how to cooperate with their worst enemies!

This was a cute anime that had interesting topics. I wish there was more of a driving story, but still is high on my list. It was short though, leaving me wanting more.

I enjoyed this anime (Otome Youkai Zakuro) very much, and the story was actually good too (I've also watched it twice). The story (to me) sort of addressed the problem of discrimination and racism, with the main characters being judged because of their abilities, origins and appearances. There is also action, history-ish supernatural-ish, demons-ish and action genres included here, with also an interesting-ish storyline. The romance definitely get's somewhere, but only at the end. So if you don't mind or even like romance, action, supernatural, demons, history, a good story line or OK animation, I suggest you watch this anime.

Otome Youkai Zakuro is quite an interesting story as the story revolves around a half-demon girl called Zakuro who has to interact with humans whom she looks at with disdain.
CHARACTERS:
The characters do not develop much for the story as we don't really see them learning and maturing much throughout the series. Some characters such as Suzukihotaru learnt and develop through the series and we learn some things about characters. Every main human-like character gets some screen-time and has a mini arc about them which is quite nice so we don't learn only about the female and male lead.
STORY:
I also quite enjoyed the last few episodes where there was the usual problem and then the solution but it didn't leave no room for suspense, in fact it even had some suprises which I liked.
Throughout the anime, there are also info on the past of some characters which gave them some depth which I really liked as well.
ANIMATION:
In my opinion, the animation was quite elegant and smooth. The designs of the characters and their outfits was also quite pretty.
Also in the fighting scenes, the art was quite refined which I liked as I'm not one for violence but I though the fighting was well executed and not stupid and girly.
And as it was one of the first few anime I watched, I really enjoyed it and thought it was the best thing ever and I still enjoy it.
