The Lost Village

迷家-マヨイガ-

A bus full of eccentric individuals is headed towards the urban legend known as Nanaki Village, a place where one can supposedly start over and live a perfect life. While many have different ideas of why the village cannot be found on any map, or why even the police cannot pinpoint its location, they each look forward to their new lives and just what awaits them once they reach their destination. After a few mishaps, they successfully arrive at Nanaki Village only to find it completely abandoned. Judging from the state of disrepair, it has been vacant for at least a year. However, secrets are soon revealed as some of the group begin to go missing while exploring the village and amidst the confusion, they find bloody claw marks in a forest. As mistrust and in-fighting break out, will they ever be able to figure out the truth behind this lost village? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This isn't a horror anime, despite it billing itself as such. Lost Village/Mayoiga explores some interesting ideas about people and psychology, but gets bogged down by a cast of mono-dimensonal characters that it ignores whenever convenient, a tendency to pull plot twists out of its ass and a remarkably poor sense of pacing and plot flow. The first few episodes suggest a traditional "murder everyone" kind of horror plot which is quickly dropped in favor of its bizarre exploration of the problem with running away from your problems.

If you can manage your expectations, or laugh your way through the hilariously stupid parts, you might be able to enjoy it. Otherwise, stay clear.

Story: I think the Story beginning is promising and excited you for a good mystery anime like "Another". But at the end bit it became really standard and the whole topic isn't that new. Some things don't come good across and some question marks are popping up here and there. Overall it was an Enjoyable story with some twist that were refreshing but not that really innovating.

Animation: Im not into that topic very much but i can say there were not Outsourcing, some CGI here and there and the Drawing quality was ok and also more like a good Standard.

Sound: Good use of Sound effects to create an spooky atmosphere.

Character: Im really pleased how many characters were used in this anime. Also i saw some Charakter types that i don't often see in Anime. I really enjoyed that part. To be honest some where stereotypical but still im very impressed about the amount and diversity of the cast.

Cardboard cast.
Quite disappointing.

I first had some Angel Beats vibes from the first few episodes, but their explanations for Nanaki Village and the backstories of each character was forced and weak.

First i would like to say i have expected a lot of things coming from this anime and well we can say there was a lot of thing but not that much... that still a great anime and good to watch but let me explain myself... let's begin !

About the Story
the story begin with a group of people who want to start their life over.. who mean changing their routine , city and how they live normally... but the village where they are going is like strange and no one know where the village is.. and we don't have any information but they still go there for restarting their life but look like interesting right ? i have think the same thing but that not what i have expected about starting over and i was thinking they will re-build a life and make a new village and etc.. but this is turning bad and the problem in the story is.. this is too much rushed and miss a lot of important part... who make a very very bad final.. why ? they solve or skip some problem too fast so that why this is rushed the story still good to watch but i think they can do a lot better.. plus we have only see the problem of some of them and not all of them ( probably because this is too long or i don't know ) and some characters are really just for filling the background.. this is pretty sad.. so actually the goal of the story is to find a way out but don't worry that was good but i still think they have rushed the story too much this is the only problem who bother me

About the Animation and Soundthe animation was pretty normal but the animation of a thing ( i will not spoil it ) was like a little bit weird with some little ugly 3D with very low quality.. but if we forget about these thing everything is alright , for the sound well the Opening and Ending was good they take in consideration to put all characters in it but well this is not a big deal haha.. but that fitting with the anime and i will leave you the link for it

(Not High Quality Screen because of copyright strike)

Opening

Ending (can change characters during the anime)

About The Characters
well we have a bunch of characters in it but i was pretty disappointed to see how much bad people was present in the group well this is normal but i still disappointed because i was expecting a group of people who was good persons.. not with some retards.. you will find difficult to find a character you like and i would like to talk about them one by one but i cannot because of the actual reason that gonna spoil or i only have little information about them.. i mean that would be weird if i only tell you their personality but didn't have anything to describe so.. No Spoil

About The Enjoyment
that was good and interesting to follow and see what happen next but you will not enjoy it that much when you will be around the end.. sadly... i really think you will be all deceived by how that turning but i don't say that you will not enjoy it.. i mean how that finish this is a great end but just have been rushed but yeah that was good to watch no doubt about it

i can recommend this anime but i will be sure that the person to who i recommend this anime like Drama and not only Action because this is the kind of anime who are slow and have a lot of talk so yeah you need to like Drama if you search Horror there not that much Horror in this anime.. this is more Psychological Mystery Drama if you don't that not your strong point you should past the road because you will be bored or just drop the anime..

but yeah this is not that bad !

With same ingredients, you can cook food for whole party or make charcoals. Sadly, this title is more about second thing.

It starts as anime version of cheap murican thriller... Well. It is. But with one exception - its NOT thriller. At all. Its partially psychological drama, partially thrash, partially parody to lost and similar stuff.

Lot of characters, but most of them left uncovered - why did you add them then? Storytelling is joke - it never catches you, plus has enough logical problems and holes. Graphics... Nothing special, nothing bad. Chardes isnt as generic. Soundtrack... Is it a thing?

Overall - I've got, what author tried to say, but its not smthing, I will watch again

All right, so we all know this piece of crap series is obviously pretentious and serious in what it is trying to convey, but fails miserably and is almost a comedy mocking itself for being serious.

Story: Well it is nothing short of being a complete bunch of bullcrap being spewed out to the audience. Now this will be a spoiler to some extent but the whole story of a bunch of people coming to a metaphysical village where their psychological scars from past are physically manifested is an interesting concept, but Mayoiga being what it is, pulls this off like a hippo taking a shit. It is simply atrocious how you can tell a story soo boringly and unenthusiastically. There is perhaps decent suspense in the beginning, but when the first Nanaki is revealed with its horrendous CGI animation, you start to wonder how these people even managed to get someone to produce this piece of crap... Besides that, there are 30 characters where we briefly look in to like 5 of them and their psychological scars. The 12 episodes aren't even close to enough to make us invest in their background story and what's going on. The whole mystery aspect is dulled down by random accusation and forced characters that are one-sided. All in all it is simply shit, nothing more, nothing less.

Animation: Well as I have mentioned, the CGI on that nanaki makes you rip your eyes off because they look like they're made on a computer with windows XP or by a 4-year old. The animation for everything else is also bland and boring, and you can see that there is a heavy budget limit to this series because of the script being as shit as it is.

Sound: This is perhaps the only OK thing in the series. This goes for some of the background music and the OP/ED and the hippo song which was a nice tune in the first episode. Besides that, the characters voice acting for several characters are quite frankly poor. They can be really annoying and when that killing crazy bitch speaks it makes your ears bleed. Of course again you can see the budget restriction makes it hard to find good voice actors.

Character: The characters are soo one-sided that it makes you think if these are actually human beings and not robots programmed with only one thought in mind. Even though the focus is the main character, there is only two things going on in his head: Banging the girl and act like a dumbfuck good boy cuz that's his trope. Same goes for all the other characters. They're simply tropes and nothing more. The main characters never develop past anything than what is forced on to them by the end. I will not spoil anything but it is a simple switch from having an inferiority complex to not having one, and that's about it, his character is still the same dumbfuck good bot wanting to bang the girl.

Enjoyment: Well if you want to cringe by watching the work of a person who wrote this as a serious piece turning in to a comedy for being overly serious when everything about it is beyond retarded then this might be somewhat enjoyable. Though speaking for myself I found very little here that I could genuinely enjoy, even with the cringe it was beyond retarded to be justified as a comedy, and the pace at the end is simply wrapping up a whole pile of garbage and forcing it all inside the dustbin. Not all of it will fit in obviously and so alot of garbage slips out, like several small things about the certain characters that could've been elaborated alot more, but of course they are just presented as plot progression points to give the story some meaning for why the characters act the way they do, and hence making it obviously sub-par writing and not enjoyable.

Overall: I give this piece of crap 1/10 because anyone with a sane mind would understand this is some pretentious lazy-ass writing executed so poorly that my own shit would make for a better view than this piece of garbage. But of course that is my own opinion, if you want to, go ahead and watch it for yourself and judge.

You know, it's fun to watch something awful. Something that is so deceptive at the tin, but manages to trick you and constantly be bad when you least expect it. Yeah, it's not the most COMPELLING way to do things, but it's not like you'd watch a show that's awful expecting anything good.

Of course, I might sound like I'm turning in circles, but it's hard to put into words the absolutely amazing phenomenon that is Mayoiga. This show isn't just awful, it's awful on purpose and bathes in said awfulness, and the result is nothing short of absolutely hilarious.

You know all those side-characters in every anime ever that don't and won't ever amount to something? That's the characters in this show. And they're on a bus. To a village cut out from society. Trust me, it's amazing.

The story is...well, there is no story. In fact, I don't think any important major plot points are resolved satisfactorily, but that's not a bad thing in this case (at least, not in the conventional sense). But hey, what can I say. I ain't against innovation, if you know what I'm saying, and this show sure has some.

You might respond by saying, "Well, Sushi, even if the story is complete and utter garbage, but maybe the characters are OK". And then you'd be completely and utterly wrong, because these characters are the worst and best part of this entire mess.

They're all completely and utterly insane, make absolutely no sense and break social taboos for no real reason other than doing so.

They also happen to be conveniently forgetful.

Like, from as far back as episode 1, the characters on a bus to an abandoned village start singing about a hippo's life. The hippo is apparently very sad. And went to school, got married and was born to fanfare.

And then one character asks his best bud how does he know the lyrics, then sings along everyone else for no real reason. Yeah, it's this kind of show.

Of course, the madness doesn't stop there; there's a girl who screams bloody murder every time she talks, a pack of rapists including a racist stereotype of a black person and the list goes on.

Artwork is standard Diomedea material, but character designs are ultimately very forgettable. Animation quality is the weakest from any Diomedea show to date, being very random in terms of consistency and having a lot of really ugly looking CGI, as well as the fact that it feels like this show was also shaded in some kind of dark filter everywhere.

Soundtrack is completely forgettable, though special credit needs to go to the absolutely amazing (read: hilarious) voice acting, which manages to add a whole new layer to just how utterly stupid the show is. Seriously, these folks were having the time of their lives yelling out and making their lines sound as dumb as possible, it's AMAZING.

Long story short; just watch it. It's so utterly bad it's bloody hilarious, and my god do I hope there's more of this some day.

One of the best anime comedies I've seen. This is a must see. A masterpiece by Mizushima and Okada.

allie.goodwin - 2016-06-18 11:19:19

The best word to describe it would be "Cliche": the plot mainly focuses on a boy, that  went on a school just for boys that  falls for every chick he sees,  also gets betrayed by his so called 'best friend', in the end making up and living in a  care free world, thanks to the experience in this village.
Also, the characters have a week development and backstory.

Story
The series seemed to try too hard to have a deep story about people's inner demons, which had a lot of potential but the series definitely fell short. Many of the episodes seemed to have nothing happen in them and the series was so slow except right toward the end.

Characters
None of the characters were interesting enough to like, except for the main character, most of them were annoying with little to no character development.

Mayoiga was honestly an interesting series which I would say was worth watching, but it definitely doesn't stand out as one of the best. If it was at a steady pace through the whole series and had more likeable characters with strong development it could've been very good. But sadly it was only slightly above average for me.
