Although Quan Zhi Gao Shou may at first glance seem like a common-cliche-RPG anime, it will for sure surpass the expectations of its viewers. The Chinese may be annoying for people keen on Jap only, but the action, music and specially the characters are all well enjoyable and make the experience remarkable on the whole. The animation does fail sometimes, but specifically while fighting it’s flawless. The story is not the deepest of its time, but gives an insight of a professional gamer life and hardships, giving the anime a new aspect which makes it different from Sao or Log Horizon. Overall a 8.5/10 and a must see if you have spare time.

first thing i thought in my mind when i watched this ,oh it’s Chinese i wonder if it’s gonna be as good as Japanese productions, it was pretty good i liked it a lot, only few things that bothered me a little which is the unnecessary CGI (i don’t like the visual of it it’s just a little turn off), and the reuse of some of the scenes.
P.S: when they want to say “umm” or “uhh” it sound like they’re saying “Nigga”, they’re probably not but that’s how i hear it every time!

On the one hand, this series is technically great. The animation is nice, especially considering it’s coming out of a Chinese studio. (Though they definitely poured a good bit of the budget into the first episode or two to make an impression.) For the most part the characters were… well, not the best ever written certainly, but better than what I’d say is average. The music didn’t make a huge impression on me while watching the show, though I admit I haven’t tried listening to the music on its own so there may be a standout piece that I overlooked.

But I didn’t come to this anime for the visuals or music, I came because the story was recommended to me. And I have to admit, the first episode or two had me feeling optimistic. Unfortunately, the feeling quickly faded. I feel like I could have watched through episode 4 and skipped to the end and not really have missed anything. The action scenes were pretty ok, but ultimately pointless. The main characters would converse, but nothing would be resolved, or even move towards resolution.

The majority of the “story” seemed to be centered around random characters we weren’t acquainted with “finding out” that our protagonist was, in fact, still playing the game that he had publicly retired from. However it wasn’t really a secret either..? He seemed to be pretty open about explaining who he was to people if they bothered to ask. And what screen time wasn’t spent on this mystery(?) was spent on watching masses of faceless, nameless people gather together to try and kill him and his friends for absolutely no gain that I could discern.

And even with all of that said, it’s not like I hated the show or anything. It was somewhat entertaining, which is usually all that you can ask for. But if you’re going into this hoping for “SAO done right” with compelling characters and story, you will be disappointed.

Actually a pretty decent show for a Chinese anime. Animation isn’t too shabby, though obviously in some parts it’s not amazing.. and for a show about an MMO, I actually quite enjoyed it despite not really having an interest in MMOs.

For a Chinese anime this was really well done! Also, all the characters talking so fast added a unique aspect to it. Would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in a gaming anime.

I am quite surprised by how good this show is and I had my doubts. No way does this link to animes such as SAO and Log Horizon asides from the gaming element. This is a whole different aspect of gaming, where audiences get to see the both sides to it; 1. inside the game and 2. behind the screen. The characterization is superb and the animation is beautiful.
This is definitely one of my top anime of the season.

this show has many similarities between sao and log horizon but it has many of its own ideas mixed in the anime as well. in my opinion it is better then sao and log horizon due to the gaming areas is better, it has more action and more interesting twists and turns as well. i have read other comments about this anime but i dont think we should keep comparing it to sao or log horizon. the creators of this anime wanted to make something better and more interesting in its own way.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the show so far due to many reasons. I at first thought it was just going to be a an attempt to make SAO for China however i was wrong. There may be similarities between the show but whereas in SAO Kirito is over powered and unrelatable, but in this show the main character Ye Xiu is powerful yet still feels compelling and sympathetic. This is due to the show not being afraid to show that he has weaknesses. The show also knows how to handle an action scenes and uses some interesting visual techniques that keeps it interesting to watch. Overall the show is an interesting watch that i am enjoying so far.
