The World God Only Knows: Goddesses
神のみぞ知るセカイ 女神篇Having freed a myriad of women from the runaway spirits possessing their hearts, the "God of Conquest" Keima Katsuragi is confronted with a new task: find the Jupiter Sisters, the goddesses that sealed Old Hell in the past. Diana, the goddess that resides inside his childhood friend Tenri Ayukawa, explains that they have taken shelter in the hearts of the girls he had assisted previously. Moreover, once Diana and her sisters are reunited, their power can seal the runaway spirits away for good and relieve Keima of his exorcising duties. Though he is initially reluctant to get involved in yet another chore, everything changes when tragedy befalls one of the hosts. Discovering that the goddesses are being targeted by a mysterious organization known as Vintage, Keima is caught in a race against time to reunite the sisters and rescue the girl who has already fallen prey. With deeper resolve than ever before, Keima works together with demons Elsie and Haqua to recapture the hearts of the girls he had charmed in the past. However, the road ahead is a difficult one, as he is soon met with the consequences of his previous conquests. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I thouroughly enjoyed this anime all the way through from season 1. I was skeptical at first but I found that it has become one of my all time favorites now. I highly recommend this entire series to anybody who likes Rom-Com with some serious tear jerking moments, I’ve never had an anime make me legit cry before. I only wish a season 4 would be released, I would love to see how it goes from there. I know I can read the manga, but I’ve never been much of a reader. This show might just make me read it though it was soo good. 5 stars all around, no question.

One of the most beautiful, completely stupid, but heart wrenching anime I have seen yet. I am torn between hoping they continue on to the next season, crafting the final parts of the manga into a finale, or leaving it here, at this depressing and amazing ending.

Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai: Megami-hen Review
Before you watch the third season, make sure you watch Season 1 and Season 2 of the anime, as well as the OVA, Tenri-hen (aka Tenri arc). This is extremely important as if you missed the Tenri Arc, you might be a little confused as to what the characters are doing in the first few episodes.
Story (9.5/10):
The third season mainly brings back the girls from Keima’s previous conquests, from season 1 and 2, and he is forced to conquer them again. However, this season, the formula has changed.
*SPOILER ALERT*
One, he has to figure out which of the girls he has conquered actually contains the goddess. This leads to very interesting story development as we see Keima making tough decisions (and sad ones) to pinpoint which girl has the goddess, and of course, he has no time to handle the others who don’t.
Second, even harder conquests. The problem here is that the fact that the girls who have goddess actually remember the conquest from Seasons 1 and 2, and thus, this adds to the difficulty that Keima faces, since this means that rather than just trying to conquer the girls one by one in past seasons, he now has to conquer about 5 to 7 at once, and the worst part is, Elsie and Haqua are not as available to provide help in this season.
Third, there is a time limit. Keima has to locate and conquer the girls to awaken the goddesses as quickly as possible, due to the fact that *SPOILER ALERT* one, he needs all the goddess to revive Kanon, and two, he needs all the goddess to stop Vintage, the “evil” hell from being revived. *SPOILER END* Yes, the saving the world thing is a little cliché, but the way it is presented and developed makes it not seem so.
This all brings about a more exciting plot such that the viewers are often presented with a sense of urgency and kept on the edge of our seats trying to see who has the goddess, how Keima is able to do it, and whether he is able to make it on time. As a result, this often brings many plot twists and far more exciting and rewarding story than it was in Seasons 1 and 2.
Characters (9.5/10):
In the third season, we actually see many of the old characters return, and it was interesting to see their character when they actually remember their conquests. Are they awkward about it, tsundere, or even daring enough to straight up confess to Keima about their love?
However, the main character that makes the score here be bumped up to such great levels is actually our main protagonist, Katsuragi Keima. He has often been called the capturing god, for his prowess in gaming. All we have seen in seasons 1 and 2 was that he was smart enough to identify flags and being able to conquer the girls one by one. However, in this season, we see the true power of the capturing god as Keima captures 5 to 7 girls all at once, all while having to avoid letting the other girls know that he’s actually “cheating” on them.
Moreover, as mentioned in the theme song, “I know its not a game anymore”. You can see that Keima takes the conquering more seriously this time around, there’s almost no moment where he says that he doesn’t feel like doing it or just wants to play his PSP, because he is now dealing with a life or death situation, and the outcomes is on his shoulders. In fact, he hasn’t been even touching his PSP as much.
Lastly, in seasons 1 and 2, we could only see that Keima was sort of this cold person that only wants to make girls fall in love with him as quickly as possible so that he could get back to his gaming. But here, his character has truly developed and changed. For example, when his decision hurts a girl, he actually feels depressed and sad that he had no choice but to do so to her. He could feel and put himself in the girl’s shoes, something that he definitely could not have done in past seasons.
Art (9/10):
The art remains visually the same, in a good way. What’s improved is probably that the action scenes are more crisp and detailed, as well as better animated.
Sound (8.5/10):
The soundtrack used in the third season is generally the same as past seasons, but this is in no way a bad thing, since its something special to the “Kami Nomi Franchise”. However, of course, I hoped that they would introduce more new soundtracks.
The Opening for the third season is “Secrets of the Goddess”, sung by Saori Hayami, seiyuu for Haqua. The lyrics are extremely meaningful, and may possibly provide some spoilers, haha, but its very catchy and if you liked the previous OPs, you’ll love this one.
The Endings are somewhat different each episode. Each ending is sung by the voice actor of the girl that was conquered that episode, which makes the ending interesting and fresh every week.
Enjoyment (9.5/10):
I enjoyed Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai Megami-hen a lot more than I did with the past seasons. This was because I felt that in the past seasons, it was not presented as well and the conquests were boring and too slow in some arcs. However for the third season, every conquest is interesting and the pacing is just right. Moreover, it was awesome to see the old characters return. Never thought I’ll see them again.
Overall (9.5/10):
If you haven’t already started on Megami-hen, do it now! The third season is extremely rewarding with a reasonably paced and interesting plot, returning characters and well-done character development, with an awesome opening to add to this

The World God Only Knows - Goddesses Arc
Shadows Classification:
Top 2013 entrance: 1º (TOP 2013)
All Time Top entrance: 11º (All Time Top)
Recommendation: Very entertainment! ( 84.25 of possible 100)
Blogger Note: To watch Season 3 of The World God Only Know, two things are required:
- Have seen the Season I or II (They are very similar to understand and you should be able to understand the story main plot)
- See The World God Only Knows Tenri-Arc (a two episodes OVA, sincerely I do not agree that a OVA should contain main story plot development, and in case of TWGOK for me is a huge mistake)
Warning this review could contain spoilers!
If the reader wasn't watched this anime, this could reduce the enjoyment!
For instance Sasuke will kill Naruto in season finale!
See the danger of a Spoiler? Now this was a lie, only to show the power of a spoiler!
The reader was been warned!
Now Let's Get Started:
"The Rule That Only God Knows Is Broken"
Directed by - Satoshi Osedo
Studio - Manglobe
Year - 2013
Season 3 / 12 episodes
One More Note
After two seasons and several OVA, the show suffers a director change! It's a very risky move, to a well establish anime. But I think that didn't affect much the anime.
Scenario
The world is divided in 3 parts (Heaven, Earth and the New Hell) and it is in New Hell that this anime has born several years ago, Hell tried to invade Earth and capture their souls and gain supremacy against Heaven, but Heaven and the good demons rise up and stooped the attack. As consequence the hell souls, run and hide in lonely girls hearth, so New Hell send is agents to capture the running souls with the help(forced) of chosen humans.
Last Spoiler Warning!
Analysis
As usual I will start this review by the opening, and TWGOK on't goes to break that rule, as the anime made (:P). The openings of TWGOK have the ability to make me hate at start and then to love it. In this season the feeling was more extreme, because they started with glimpses of the old opening.
(TWGOK 3 - opening)
As usual in this series the opening reflects the spirit of the plot. This op. was no exception, making a perfect trailer without any type of spoiler, because you need to watch the first 2 or 3 episodes to understand.
When I said the op. reflects the anime is because the lyrics "It's not a game anymore" was a constant presence! The game flags and events was set to a very minimum to trace a bridge between tho old seasons.
Keima Katsuragi now holds the humanity faith in his hands, he is no more an buddy between others, but now holds the power to find the Goddness that stooped the Old Hell riot! And that Goddness are in the bodies of the girls that Keima released and to find the Goddness he needs, to reconquer all his targets with the only clue that now, the girls remembered!
Obviously with the golden rule beaked the story turned in a harem and to help the party the Goddness also feminine also like a little of Keima! For me Season III of TWGOK could easily had been a 25 episodes season, the OVA Tenri-Arc and a more paused rhythm could give a very good season!
Also to be noted the new Hell organization receives some protagonist, we are able to see they organization and corruption like an typical government :P
The only thing I really dislike was the disappearance of air time of Elsie, completely push aside, returning a feeling of an incompetent character!
If you watched previous seasons I vivid recommend to also watch this Season!

The World God Only Knows. The comedic and light-hearted story of an avid dating sim gamer who must use his abilities to dislodge evil spirits from the heart of an emotionally-troubled young maiden. Girl gets invaded by spirit, boy devises romantic plot, boy kisses girl, evil spit is released and is captured by boy's hapless sidekick. Rinse and repeat.
At least that's been the case until now. Amid much derision from certain sections of the fanbase, TWGOK: Goddesses makes a bold decision to skip over at least two more seasons' worth of conquests and fast-forwards to manga's Goddesses arc. And for the most part it pays off.
Apollo explains Manglobe's thought process
Spoiler Warning!
Goddesses is a much more serious story compared to the light-hearted antics of the first two seasons. Old Hell is ready to break loose thanks to the cult of Vintage, spearheaded by rogue spirit catcher Lune (Haruka Tomatsu). Standing in their way are six Goddesses who, like their demonic counterparts, lie dormant in the hearts of girls who have previously felt love. Things start to fall apart when Apollo, the Goddess residing inside fan-favourite Idol Kanon Nakagawa (Nao Toyama), is attacked by soldiers of Vintage, leaving her in a self-defensive coma. The way to revive her? Restore the power of her five sisters via the power of love.
So here we are back to the old formula again. But not quite. The first few episodes focus on Keima's attempts to revive three of the Goddesses, two inside characters that are completely new to Anime-only viewers (refined stargazer Tsukiyo and wealthy tomboy Yui), and one inside meek bookworm Shiori (Kana Hanazawa). Things are complicated further when Keima learns that not all of his previous conquests have forgotten their experiences, setting himself up for huge consequences as this series goes on. More about that later.
While this early part of the season was entertaining enough, I couldn't help but feel I was missing out on backgrounds of Yui and Tsukiyo, with each of their conquests explained in a brief flashback. As a result I found it more difficult to empathise with their characters compared to Shiori, my personal favourite from the first season. I'm hoping these gaps are eventually filled in via OVAs, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.
Truth be told I don't really remember much about Tsukiyo at all, though Yui's role reversal in trying to conquer Keima brought about a couple of memorable moments. Shiori's story in particular was absolutely adorable, her anger at Keima for abandoning her previously told via constantly changing novel, followed by her own "I HAVE A VOICE!!!" moment with her wavering "KEIMA-KUUUuuuuUUUUuuuN!" howl eluding almost infinite amounts of cuteness. A fantastic job done by Kana Hanazawa.
The series really comes into its own in the final half of the season. With only one Goddess left to find, Keima faces a 50-50 choice between best friends and bandmates Ayumi & Chihiro. Without going into too much spoilerific detail, the subsequent roller coaster and lasting consequences on Keima bring about some of the finest episodes in TWGOK's entire run. Chihiro absolutely steals the show in these final episodes, producing by far the most memorable scenes of all three seasons - firstly with the rooftop fireworks scene in Episode 9, followed by the heart-crushing final 10 minutes of episode 12 with the concert and the meeting outside of Keima's house. By the time this series reaches its climax Keima's seeming impenetrable emotional armour is now full of cracks and maybe, just maybe, someone real may have conquered his own heart at last. And if you don't feel even the slightest inkling of sympathy for Chihiro by this point, there's a fair chance your heart is made of stone.
Keima lied, Chihiro cried.
In short, by taking a gamble with cutting content, TWGOK has finally struck gold. Brilliantly funny, yet surprisingly emotional.

The world god only knows is a highly engaging highly dynamic romantic comedy series that focuses upon taking the most cliche and overused character types and reconstructing them. While many fans of the manga will be disappointed that a large portion of story is skipped over in favor of the more "driven" real plot beginning, I look at it as a chance to see what the world god only knows can bring up. At the end of the day the world god only knows is a thrill ride that you, the audience is taken by. I believe that this season continues to shine.
As for the story, the goddess arc focuses upon the series protagonist "getting the band back together." This is a solid story that takes the audience forward to an ending you see coming in a unpredictable way. We know what is going to happen for the most part but the real joy is how much the whole production makes you enjoy the journey.
The animation is flawless if not fantastic. It understands it is supposed to be slightly comical and differing from real life and fits this series perfectly. but is not a focus of the anime.. The animation is very definitively not the important part of this show and the animators understand this. With this said, there are some breathtaking moments in this season that open your mind. When some routes are ended the animators triple or quadruple the budget like always.
Being my first review, and one done for the fun and to encourage fans to continue with the anime, i have little to nothing to say about the sound. I don't know how to judge sound quality aptly for an anime but, the sound perfectly fit the anime and the opening is the best fully English opening i have ever heard, though it was produced to be the opening for this anime.
Many people look at the characters that make up this series and write them off because they are overused.tropes and cliches, but the author uses these tropes to greater show the character development of the "real" characters and deepen the value the protagonist has to a viewer even more. Keima started off as a geeky neet that only wanted to live in the world of his video games but has evolved to an actual human being that not only has empathy for other people, has somewhat of a personality beyond his trope and cares about the women he conquests.
I like this season because the animators and the storyboard writers continue their trend of breathing more life into these characters than the original manga could, and making the full use of their anime format to develop and shape these character; both as real people, and as the tropes they reconstruct.
Overall i would say that highly funny highly entertaining romantic comedy harem. If you like those things you should watch this series, but especially this season.
