okay form the start, ikki tousen is an anime that is based on the romance of the three kigdoms, where the souls of the warriors that fought in it are inside a bead called magatama and whoever gets said bead iscalled toushi (warrior) and is bound to the same fate, down to who will kill you.

now that's out of the way, the anime shows us the story of sonsaku hakufu, a toushi that while pleasing to the eyes, it has Little skill and intelligence and her liffle in her school named nanyo and all teh manipulations in that comes to it while everyone tries their best to kill her while the girl cares nothing more than to fight.

the story is at times simple at others complex, the visuals are pleasing for obvious reasons both the fights and the models, the series is all fan service where the fights are good but for some reason the girls end up with shredded clothes.

as for the character depth, it all revolves around the magatama and while most of the toushi just accept their destiny (hich nine times out of ten is death) some do try to change it, at times with somewhat predictable means, but most others are " i act like this because my bead says I should, becuase soemone stronger said I should" not to mention that some characters have little to no ambition. Also hakufu suffers from the beserk powerup syndrome, you know, when she is about to loose the hidden powerup (in this case a dragon) kicks in and she beats teh stuffing out of her opponent.

the music is okay, but mostly a non factor, to this day I'm still not sure it has music in it beyond the opening and ending.

the seires is not that long and the ending is nothing new.

It is also to note that the sequels are better tan this one.

If you look for a series with good visuals and good fights its a great option to pass time, you will enjoy it, but if you are looking for something else, with great intrigue, amazing depth in both plot and carácter just keep going and look for something else.
