Gorgeous !
A difficult start, I felt lost by the atmosphere of the anime that does not resemble the memory of my childhood but I was quickly taken in this story.
The childish side has disappeared to make way for an anime for adults.
The image of our hero grew up together with us!

The story has been changed, but despite this the spirit has remained, and it's logical. Harlock always have his courageous and fearless side, subordinates are more present and less light. The tortured side of characters is annoying The story has been changed, but despite this the spirit has remained. Albator always his courageous and fearless side, subordinates are more present and less light.
The face is tortured characters annoying the first 15 minutes but we realize that without it, there is no depth. Why flog to live with Albator if you don't have a dark past ?
Nevertheless, this dark side spoils the side of the heroic cartoon characters and our childhood vision finds herself changed despite us. This Harlock, a sort of black knight guilt-ridden, more realistic and a more human hand makes its namesake, our childhood is bit cheesy, wasting my precious memories.
So beware, don't mix everything !

The graphics is beautiful, the details make them very believable.
The fight scenes are magnificent.
This anime has given depth to our mythical Harlock by making it darker, in final, eternal in every sense !

So I took great pleasure to rediscover my favorite hero and this deserves a 4.5/5 !

Captain Harlock , a Classic anime from the late 70s remade in 2013 in movie form. Let’s see how good it is!

NOTE:I have not seen the original anime

STORY
‘’Captain Harlock rebelled against the Allied Forces and has been plundering space ships for one hundred years. Why did he rebel? How does he survive for one hundred years? With awe and fear of the legendary captain, the Allied Forces issues an order to assassinate Harlock’’

The idea behind it is great, but this is a 2 hour movie-The original series is 42 episodes long. So it feels very, very rushed. The story itself is great, having politics and the debate of what’s right and what’s wrong in the minds of both Yama and the Captain Himself.
So by that, I give the story a 6.If this were a series of movies it would be a lot better, but sadly-it is not
Story-6/10

Characters
The main character in this isn’t actually Harlock Himself(He does play an important role nonetheless)It’s Yama, a young man who is a part of the Allied Forces. He is sent to join the crew of the Arkadia to kill the captain.
Yama is really an interesting character, but the rushed story is what keeps him from being an amazing character. His conflicting morals are explored deeply but feel rushed. As a character , he’s not half bad

Then we have Harlock. The Living legend himself. He also has the same conflicting morals as Yama, but his are explored through the flash back that show us how he became the feared space pirate that he currently is.
And I can say, he’s the meaning of the word-BADASS.

As for the side cast, they were pretty good but the rushed story stopped them from being something grand.
Characters-6/10

Animation
This movie has really good production values, and I mean REALLY GOOD. It has a budget that comes close to that a Hollywood movie.30 MILLION BUCKS. They sure as hell weren’t wasted-IT LOOKS FREAKING AMAZING, some of the best use of CGI known to man.
No real complaints here.Animation-10/10

SOUND
Great OST, There’s really nothing to say about it-it’s just good
Sound-7/10

ENJOYMENTIt was a fun to watch movie, had some slow parts but overall fun
Enjoyment-6/10

OVERALL
Good movie with amazing production values, but it being rushed keeps it from being amazing.
7./10

Hope you liked my review, until next time. FT-Signing out.
