Anime Tenchou (Animation Store Manager) is perhaps one of the best Anime to have been conceived by Hideaki Anno (Gunbuster, Evangelion, Cutie Honey) and maybe even GAINAX as a whole.

Now you may be asking yourself a couple of questions like "What is Anime Tenchou?" or "I've seen that character somewhere before!" and here are the answers:

1. Anime Tenchou is a 2 minute OVA produced by Studio GAINAX during 2002 and the purpose of such is to promote Animate. Animate is a retail store specializing in anime, games and manga. Check it out.

2. You might have seen the main character before, he is the mascot for Animate and he has appeared in Lucky Star, Hayate no Gotoku! and Miyakawa-ke no Kuufuku. He also has his own manga.

With all of that out of the way let me actually explain the meat of this anime.

Anime Tenchou has a gripping story.

Right off the bat we are taken into the aftermath of what seems to have been a battle. The main character Meito Anizawa is hold a dying man. The dying man has one last wish and that is for Meito to become Anime Store Manager in his place. Meito has one job from then on and it is to sell anime and other related goods. That itself isn't as easy as it seems since there are many rivals that he has to face.

The story is just perfect and uses the amount of time it has much better than other show which have longer run times.

Story is 10/10

The animation in Anime Tenchou is compelling.

The animation may remind you of some other shows that Gainax, or rather; the staff that worked for Gainax made. The animation is energetic and also has that bit of quirkiness to it, not to mention the fact that it has that the audio gives it that extra bit of pzazz.

Animation is 10/10

Anime Tenchou has wonderful sound.

The video about is the actual OVA so I suggest that you watch it. The music, voice acting and extra sound effects just make the anime explode with energy. The voice actors did a great job capturing the intensity of their respective characters.

The characters are charismatic.

The character in the above image is Meito Anizawa. He is the mascot of Animate and the main character of this OVA. As said before, he appears in other anime. He is strong and strategically minded. He strives to create the perfect store and he 'loves anime with all his heart'.

There are many other characters. Unfortunately due to the time that the anime has it could not expand on all of them but we are given an idea of who they are and what they do. Many of the characters work with Meito and have equally unique personalities.

Character is 10/10

Anime Tenchou is enjoyment to the max.

I do not think I have to explain myself as the anime will do the talking, nevertheless; Anime Tenchou never fails to entertain me. Each time I watch it I find something new, another way to interpret it all. If you have seen the other anime that Meito and his crew appear in then you would have known extra information about the characters.

No matter how you look at it Anime Tenchou fits nicely into the 2 minutes it has. I recommend that you watch this as your time won't be wasted and it is worth the 2 minutes any way.

Overall I give Anime Tenchou 10/10. Everyone should watch this.
