I see Idolmaster Cinderella Girls as a single series, despite the branding of a "1st" and "2nd" season, but this review shall focus more on the latter. The story picks up from the big concert of the 1st cour, we are gently reintroduced to the cast with some idol hijinks going on up until the real overlaying drama that persist goes into the picture. Idol animes generally lacks any concrete antagonist, but Idolmaster Cinderella Girls provides us with on in the form of "Mishirou Oujou"/Executive Director, as her views and plans for 346pro's idols completely differ and contrast to our hero, the producer. As such, the idols also suffer from these changes and need to overcome the hardships associated with the changes imposed by Mishirou. The weak part in this is that with 14 idols, not everybody had a chance to benefit from this character development opportunity, but at least the most popular characters did get their fair share of development and screen time. The animation quality was constant, but the last episode, which is supposed to be the big concert (no surprise here for an idol anime), had more still than animation. Props to A-1 to have never resorted to CGI unlike other idol anime which used those for the dance performances. The music was also great, I actually preferred the songs used in this cour over the ones in the first. Overall, decent idol anime. Watch the first cour first. Play Starlight Stage on the side. Don't go to Love Live.

Following the events of iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, the second season launches viewers into even more of the struggles and challenges facing the developing idols of 346 productions as well as their producer. In between strict overseers, lively events, and of course the singing, Cinderella Girls is packed with character development and overcoming challenges. Each idol is followed and their thoughts and feelings explored as their various hardships, experience, and passion all intertwine and finally meet in a heartfelt, powerful ending. 
Cinderella Girls lacks the silly and funny antics of the iDOLM@STER 2 anime but makes up for it in the absolute raw drama and powerful character interactions. 

This is a chance for those who play the game to see their favorite idols shine and come to life. This is The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls!
