An improvement on volume 1

Any reviews I make, please take with a handful of salt.

Pros:

+ Animation isthe same unique style with small improvements (e.g. now background people aren’tjust black shadows).

+ The show putsmore focus on world building and awesome fight scenes rather than high schooldrama.

+ The comedicwriting is still as good as before,

+ They also gaveepisodes a consistent length of 12 minutes which makes the experience feel lessdisjointed. There are about 6 standard episodes worth of content in this one soit’s longer than the first volume as well.

+ Small extra butI loved the opening; it always got me hyped for the episode.

Cons:

- There are stillsome of the negative aspects of the first volume (e.g. high school drama, lackof plot) that are still present but to a lesser extent.

- The openingteases all these cool characters fighting and yet half of them don’t evenappear or do anything of importance and before you know it the volume is overonce the plot starts going somewhere. Overall it was very anticlimactic and createsmore questions than answers.

- There is still no sub that I’m aware of if youreally can’t stand hearing people speak in your own language

A new chapter in everyone's favourite American web series, but is it any good?

Now I will Start this review by saying I love this show I really do. So this may sound slightly biased as I'm not judging it against other anime since I don't consider it an anime. Its more of an animated web series as Rooster Teeth puts so well. This is not however because of any kind of budget or quality issue, it is down to its inability to post consistent 20+ Min episodes.

The Story is a dramatic improvement to volume 1. It's much more linear and more enjoyable to watch, it feels like RWBY spent alot of time and money investing in their story line...

But it should have been spent on the Animation. It is still amateur hour as far as that goes. Broken running animations are still a massive problem and some fight scenes suffer badly from dropped and skipped frames which at points will make it look like it was animated in flash using tweens and there are many scenes that have background items come in during one shot only to disappear in the next.

The Soundtrack wasn't as good as last year, although the full soundtrack is yet to be revealed the sounds and music where just alot better in volume 1. Notable good songs include; Time to say goodbye (OP), Die and Shine.

The show's Characters are good improvement on the first series's small cast, Cinder, Mercury, Emerald and Neo are all fantastic new characters introduced throughout until. The finale, (which was rushed so badly. The animation is awful during the first part.) introduces Team CFVY. Team CFVY gets about 2 mins of screen time, this is the best part in the series, the 2 mins Coco got will make you just want more of Team CFVY's explosive attitude as she is by far my favourite character in front of Mercury!

Overall fans of the previous volume will love this new chapter to the story, it answers a lot of questions and poses new questions while keeping you entertained at the same time, for a new member to the series I highly recommend giving the first series a try, RWBY's not for everyone but its great fun to just watch the gun folding carnage unfold!

The 7/10 Rating is for my pure enjoyment minus the some of the most cringe worthy animations.

The whole RWBY series is a nice change of pace from traditional anime. All the characters have an anime based design but the animation is more like that of a video game. Once you get used to it, it's actually very enjoyable to watch.
The characters are all likeable and distinct and the script is great, with lots of great one-liners thrown in at just the right moments. I always end of laughing!

The only downside may be the plot. There is one but it can sometimes get a bit lost in the side stories, though that may be down to the fact that the episodes are often quite short. It's really not a major issue, in my opinion.

This is what RWBY should have started out as. This is truely amazing.

The first episode of RWBY Season 2 just went up about 20 minutes ago on roosterteeth.com. If you're a fan of the series and want to get caught up, take 15 minutes to go check it out!
