I forgot how much better the older anime are.
They have their own sense of over the top humor and are not afraid of breaking the fourth wall. They don’t rely as much on fan service to make you laugh.

Starting from the month of fasting until now, I just finished watching this anime. But, I am a little disappointed with this anime one of them is ending. Maybe I will some explain this anime and review it. This anime if not wrong is the anode year 2007. Although this anime classic, I will not judge this anime. Precisely, this anime is very good to watch the view of the genre is already interesting that is Rom-Com or called Romantic Comedy.

“Seto no Hanayome” or better known by “SnH” by anime lovers. In English “My Bride is a Mermaid”. This anime genre rom-com that is interesting to watch and not boring although watched repeatedly. When I first saw this anime, I felt strange with the title and like looking back in TV Series Indonesia in general. But after watching it, this anime will make you laugh in every episode.

“My Bride is a Mermaid,” tell about a boy named Michisio Nagasumi (Takahiro Mizushima) who was visiting his grandmother who lived in Seto’s hinterland with her family. One afternoon when Nagasumi swam in the sea, he suddenly fell asleep because he was too frightened. At the same time, suddenly he is helped by a very beautiful mermaid named Seto Sun (Haruko Momoi) or commonly called San. In the afternoon, San visits Nagasumi’s grandmother’s house and says that Nagasumi should be responsible for the incident this afternoon.

Nagasumi and his parents were invited to the Seto Clan’s residence at the bottom of Seto Bay. Nagasumi is informed that in the mermaid rule, every mermaid whose identity has been exposed by humans must both be executed. San’s father (Kenta Miyake) who is a leader of the Seto Clan did not want it to happen to his beloved son. He originally wanted to kill nagasumi but was blocked by his mother. His mother is Seto Ren (Makiko Nabei) who suggested a solution to the problem that is married. Nagasumi initially refused because he was the feeling people should not be forced especially if not yet know each other. But after seeing the spirit of San, he also received an offer from her mother.

“My Bride is a Mermaid” is an anime you should watch because every episode will make you laugh like anime Nichijou, Baka & Test, or The Devil is a Part-Time!. This anime will make you laugh out loud. The art problem does not have to be asked because maybe some of you will think the picture is bad, ugly, and make sore eyes. In my opinion, the picture is very good considering this anime is a classic anime of 2007. Like any other school genre anime, this anime is a daily life Nagasumi and his friends and San.

As I said earlier, from the beginning I can already guess the ending. But, I will never underestimate what happened to him because of Epic Fight. Gonzo is the studio that works on this anime besides Welcome to the NHK, Rosario + Vampire, Hellsing, and others.

One of the best animes ever. Each episode is a heart attack of laugh and tears.

I tried to complete the anime because normally I hate to just give up on something but I don't know. The anime just didn't work out with me. I found it boring but I guess it's cause my humor is different and I don't understand it. The story is okay I guess. I know some people really love this anime so go give it a try and see if you like it. I'm just stating my opinion and what I felt about it so don't take this the wrong way.

It was fun while it lasted. The concept of Japanese gangs being different family's of ranking underground society. It is a cool way to tie in real life with this anime. The (Mermaids) are society that live by a own code of honor, and can go to extremes to enforce it. But when Sun Seto daughter of the boss of the seto gang saves a drowning boy named Nagasumi. He saw her in her mermaid form which broke the code of honor and creates drama.

It has a nice laid out story that involves mostly the relationship of Nagasumi and Sun. It seem like there was some unnecessary filler episodes, but it doesn't take away the enjoyment that much. The animation has a comedic style which is good for this series. It can get a little old after a while, but overall it can be looked passed. I recommend this if you like romantic comedy types of anime. I might even start reading the manga

A comedy of epic proportions that should be enjoy by everybody. The story about Michishio Nagasumi, an everyday normal guy who is saved from drowing by a yakusa mermaid, yes, a yakusa mermaid, so now he has to decide between getting killed or marry her, from then on is a rollercoaster of laughter that will not stop until the end, there are moment that will make you hurt your belly so hard that you will have to drop to the floor (episode 20, i'm looking at you). An amazing anime with a lot of scenes that you will never forget.

Seto no hanayome is a comedy monster between this and Hataraku Maou-sama I can't decide which is funnier.

You'll probably won't see something funny like MBIAM,which is genuinely funny again(we got hataraku Maou-sama) and this series is basically an underrated masterpiece its 25 episodes long and who ever did this series need to make another season. The strongest point about the series is the reactions from the cast like when Gozaburo Seto and company was running away from the little small kitten, a yakuza running from a small kitten. i can't really say much else cause two reviewers all ready beat me. you will enjoy this series.

OK, First of all, this is my first review. And i'm not 100% sure what to do but bear with me. This is my favourite anime of all time so it will be hard to judge this legitimately. I have also watched twice and i am rewatching it for the third time now.Story 10: My favourite story ever, the idea of marrying a mermaid is fantastic, not to mention the heaps of benefits that come with it. However there are also some hidrances such as school warfare and many other halarious things.Art 8: Not the best art, but it was intsantly acceptable. Also it wasn't forgettable either, it kinda sticks with you. Sound 10: Also had my favourite opening and endings of all time, the backgrounds sounds were also great. None of it is forgettable unlike some other anime.Character 10: Great character developement, I enjoyed seeing San and Nagasumi's relationship grow, the other characters side stories were encorperated into the main storyline very well too, none of those random changes and shit. Japanese voice actors were great, english dub wasn't terrible, but i hate dubs.Enjoyment 10: I laughed my ass off every episode, from lewd humor to just plain crazy shit, Seto No Hanayome delivers, again and again.Overall 10: My Favourite anime, along with Angel Beats and Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou. Make sure you watch in a good quality and be ready for laughs, tears, and your previous favourite to be knocked down.

Seto no Hanayome (My Bride is a Mermaid) combines romantic, harem-esque comedy with slapstick, parody, and a bit of action in the mix, pulling off a great presentation of its characters in an extremely humorous yet outstanding fashion. I honestly haven’t laughed this hard in quite a while, and of course, that’s a good thing. I already had some good vibes going into Seto no Hanayome, though in the end, it exceeded my expectations, and has since become one of my favorite anime comedy shows to date.Much of Seto no Hanayome’s entertainment comes from its bizarre cast of characters, but I have to give the plot some credit in giving off a nice first impression, setting things up on what was to come. Nagasumi Michishio is our unlucky protagonist that almost drowns at sea when his family came to visit his grandmother. As he neared his last breath, along came the mermaid San Seto and saved his life. This sweet relief doesn’t last very long, as Nagasumi later finds out that San is a member of a yakuza mermaid family (Wow. Who knew, eh?). One of their laws states that if a mermaid has been exposed to human eyes, then that human or mermaid must be executed to protect the latter’s secret. However, Nagasumi can choose an alternative to save both his and San’s lives: To ask her hand in marriage. Thus, Nagasumi’s hectic life begins.Although it may not seem that way, Seto no Hanayome shares some similarities with School Rumble, ranging from the slew of misunderstandings to both series’ penchants for referencing other shows/films; a couple of noteworthy ones in this show include parodies of Fist of the North Star and James Cameron’s Terminator films. Despite the hilarity being a bit too much in some parts, I’ve come to know and appreciate all the important characters introduced throughout the show. Every single one of them felt like they played significant roles that, for me, it had gotten to the point where I thought it wouldn’t be as compelling without the full cast making appearances in every episode. At its core, Seto no Hanayome is a comedy show, though there’s a bit of backstory with some of the characters that kind of makes you care about them genuinely. That’s one of the things I love about this show; it can be funny or sincere when it has to, and none of that feels archaic or inconsistent.Unfortunately, many of the kind words I have for Seto no Hanayome doesn’t include its visual style. If there’s one thing the show is lacking on, it’s the animation. In some parts, the hectic action/comic scenes are appropriate, but when it comes to the character designs, I’d say it’s pretty lousy. I guess they’re trying to give some animal resemblances to some of the main characters (like for example, the character Saru’s name comes from the Japanese word ‘monkey’ so his face resembles that of a monkey), but I feel their appearances should be more intricately detailed, most notably the hair. Instead of making certain characters stand out in a good way, they just seem out of place compared to the rest.Regardless, Seto no Hanayome still has good production values, so I can’t really complain much. Like I said earlier, the comedic scenes are where they should be, and I was laughing every time characters would be placed in unbelievable situations. A lot of the exaggerated imagery effects give scenes more edge. Compared to other comedy shows, Seto no Hanayome is over-the-top with pretty much everything, and the Japanese voice acting largely contributes to that.I’ve listened to Funimation’s English dub of the series, and I’d say they’ve done a decent job overall. In my honest opinion though, you’d be doing yourself a favor by listening to the Japanese dub, mainly because it makes the experience that much more ridiculous and amusing. I’m not saying that the English dub is bad and should be ignored; it’s just that the original definitely does justice to the show’s comedy/parody tropes. I also think it sounds a lot better than the former. Just saying.Music-wise, there’s nothing that could be really be considered memorable, but the hard rock riffs and the occasional character insert songs perfectly fit the most intense, action-packed scenes of Seto no Hanayome. While the rest of the whimsical tracks aren’t meant to be taken seriously, they still sound pleasing to the ears. I can also echo those sentiments with the OP, ‘Romantic Summer’ (by SUN&LUNA), which is a nice song to listen to, and the first ED song ‘Ashita e no Hikari’ (by Asuka Hinoi), a sweet ballad that reflects the show’s romance elements. There’s not much else to say about Seto no Hanayome at this point, only that it’s an hysterical, incredibly funny series that manages to combine a number of genres together without sacrificing much of its integrity. Although some of the slapstick/parody stuff can probably be a tad bit overwhelming for some, there’s still something to laugh about in each passing episode; something I haven’t done since I first saw School Rumble. If they ever decide to release a second season someday--complete with all of the insanity I’ve been accustomed to in these 26 episodes--count me in.
