I have been a long time fan of this franchise and this movie in terms of a recap helped recapture the Initial D spirit except for one minor detail; they left out the eurobeat iconic to the show. Much the same way with the old series the starting story simply put is nothing to laud at it just gets it rolling. The animation is absolutely gorgeous it was fluid and the racing scenes were on point. I liked the updated character designs I think it really helped take the age off a bit. The sound was very well done concerning sound effects and the like I just have my main gripe with the movie, no eurobeat. I have to give this adaption credit though even though a lot of the side characters didn't get much screen time they feel more like actual character than in the old series. Honestly, if you liked the old series and have the opportunity to watch it, do it. If you have had no contact with the series before its definitely not a bad place to start so why not give it a try.

Some of this will only matter to hardcore initial d fans but let me just say, it's about fricken time they updated the character design and have more drawn animation than CG. There is a bit of CG but also a lot more in-car shots as well of shifting, pedal work, and guage displays. All in all, amazing. Loved it, can't wait till the 2nd one!!!
