Okay, so welcome to my review and all that jazz. I decided to review this because I feel my thoughts are actually unique to what many people feel about this.
STORY
The story of this anime is not one to be taken seriously. It is mainly about high school students and their struggle in surviving the zombie outbreak. People say the story sucks and I would have to agree but the thought of it all is, it doesn't have a story and it wasn't MEANT to. So judging it based on the story element is unfair towards it. BUT we are required to have a story part of the review so I would give it a 2/10.
ANIMATION
This is where I feel H.O.T.D really supports itself. It has fantastic animation, to me at least. I've never been able to complain about it as I never found any mistakes in it. The animation is very detailed. Not much else to say about it, other than fantastic and definitely an excellent aspect in the show. 10/10.
SOUND
The music used in this show is very... unique, forsay. It manages to capture the essence of the show and gives you the feeling that you are being pulled into something more than just a boob festival. The music gave me the sense that this was more than just boobs and camel toes, and that is was action packed with a deep impact. 9/10
FANSERVICE
Oh gosh... I bet most people clicked this review to see what I would say in regards to this. Well, my thoughts on this are simple. At times, it feels as if the boobs get developed more than the characters themselves but the thing about it is, why in the world would you watch a show ABOUT fanservice and mindless gore, and still have the mindset on judging it as if it was as serious as other anime. I didn't let the fanservice get to me, because the show was fun to watch, it was fun to see action that I wish I could do. I think people take this on a whole new level from what it should actually be on. N/A.
CHARACTERS
The characters actually develop in a strange, unknown way. I don't know how but at the end of the series, I could honestly say that I have truly grew attached to all the main characters. I don't know how it happened, but it did. In the beginning you could be easy to judge, as most people with this series but it just depends on the person. 7/10.
ENJOYMENT
I loved this show to tell you the truth. Everything about it just sprung out to me as unique and that might be why I love it so much. Most hate it because of the fanservice, which is kind of weird as it's meant to be like that, but I discussed that earlier. I would give this aspect a 9/10.
OVERALL
Overall, this show is quite amazing, but it all depends on you. I can say I love it but if you watch it, you might not feel the same, and that's okay, in case I come off as "YOU MUST LIKE IT!", as that isn't what I was trying to say. But this show gets an 8/10.

Highscool of the dead is a very fast paced and action packed anime which never has a dull moment, the story isnt amazing but what makes up for that is just how fun this anime is to watch.
If i rated animes just for enjoyment it would get a 10, but if you are the kind of person who wants to have an entertaining storyline with their anime, then you might want to skip this one.
The charachters are fairly boring and while you get an idea of what they are like and why they are depressed, some are just annoying (dr. boobs)
The animation and sound always fit the scenes well, and this anime had some of the most ridiculous but entertaining fight scenes of any anime
If HOTD tries to be more serious it could have gotten a better score, but at least it didnt try to take iteself (a fan servicy fun anime) too serious

"STORY"
The story is nothing we have not seen so far, zombies attack, humans die, and a group of badass main characters survive and fight hordes of zombies by them selves. However the anime does give it`s own spin on it, with sometimes showing us that humans are much more dangerous and evil than the zombies them selves. It also gives it`s own spin on the zombies, with them not being able to see, but only hear, but that does more harm then good, since most of the times it just does not make sense, and all it does is make the zombies easy to defeat.
"Animation"
The animation is great, and it shines threw during the action scenes, and there are lot`s of action scenes, but it looks as if some times the animators were to focused on animating boobs. And since were on the topic of boobs, what the fuck is up with the breast physics in this anime, breasts that move faster than bullets? What the fuck Madhouse what the fuck?
"Sound"
The sound is just amazing, the anime is filled with lots of great OST, with my favorite being the opening theme. And the voice acting is superb, especially the dub, I honestly could not imagine enjoying this as much as I did if I watched it subbed. Since the dub is heavily re-written and the jokes are changed from Japanese pop culture to more western style jokes. And let`s be real here, I think we all had enough J pop culture jokes. And not only that, but it`s much more awesome hearing fuck & shit then the cliché name calling that makes zero sense some times like "takashi-kun". Since there is a lot more swearing in this anime, and it`s overall nicer to hear curs words in a language you understand.
"Enjoyment"
I enjoyed this anime a lot, honestly maybe even too much, cause I started watching it no Monday, and finished watching it for the third time on Sunday. But my enjoyment of the show does not affect my scoring, cause it`s not about how much I liked it, it`s about how good the show actually is.
"Overall"
It is a good show, it`s not a great show, but as long as you like the zombie genre you will like it. Even if you overdid it with western media, this will give you something different to watch. And with it being so west inspired I would recommend watching it dubbed, since they really nailed the performance, the sub is good as well, but unless you`re a dub hatter I`d say you should try it dubbed first, and even if you are one, just give it a show, who knows maybe it will change your perspective of dubbed anime!

Highschool of the Dead is your typical survival-zombie apocalypse story. Though it's set in a high school where all girls have massive breasts. Takashi is the lead character, who decides to team up with his classmates to live through the zombie apocalypse. There are many clichés in the story, but as I mentioned before, you don't get bored watching it. It's ecchi, so there is lot of fanservice. But if you manage to overlook the fanservice (also if you're a girl, like me) then it's pretty good. Even the plot is so typical, the anime is enjoyable overall. The dub is also very good, I'd definitely recommend it.

Highschool of the Dead is a show that knows a very, very base demographic and knows exactly how to pander to it. It aims to please simple-minded, uniformly male teenagers with base level action and lots and lots of large, jiggling breasts. Highschool of the Dead has quickly entered into the ranks of shows extremely popular, not for being well-written or emotive, but simply for being a barrel of big, dumb fun.The problem is... it's not very good at it.As the name would suggest, Highschool of the Dead involves a highschool and dead things. More specifically, the series begins in a highschool and revolves around a bunch of highschool students, who happen to have walked into a George A. Romero film. In other words, they're surrounded by undead, bloodthirsty corpses... zombies. From here, the plot is about as simple as can be. The cast has to try and not die.So all in all, it really speaks volumes that Highschool of the Dead manages to fuck up such a simple task, for a wide variety of reasons. But let's start with the most glaringly obvious one... the fanservice. OK, so considering the demographic the show is aiming for, it's hardly surprising that HotD uses a lot of fanservice. But Highschool of the Dead crosses the line of what an acceptable amount of fanservice would be repeatedly. Any scene that was otherwise good had an irritating tendency to shove some schoolgirl's underwear into the camera. And don't even get me started on the infamous "Boob Matrix" scene.Of course, no matter how much fanservice is in a show, it would not destroy an otherwise good show. So let's get to the next reason HotD is an incredibly poor anime - the characters.Let's summarize the cast very quickly. The everyman, the ditz, the needy girl, the bitch, the action chick, and the nerd. Not one of these characters has any more depth than that. I have literally told you everything you need to know about the characters in the space of one sentence. Takashi is completely unremarkable, Shizuka is dopey and annoying, Rei is irritatingly helpless and inconsistent in her character, and Saya (probably the worst member of the cast) is a self-righteous bitch who has no consideration for anybody else and considers the rest of the cast below her. The only passable members of the cast are Kouta Hirano (named and designed after the creator of Hellsing, a MUCH better take on the same style), who manages to make his military obsessions at least entertaining, and Saeko, who manages to not be annoying. The worst thing about Highschool of the Dead, though, is that for a show that tries to be simple and fun... it's very boring. All in all, a survival horror really needs you to care about whether the characters live or die to work. At first, after a seemingly significant character is killed off, it seems quite possible that major characters will be killed off, and that the series will be a struggle to survive. And yet, after that, not one character we care about dies. It becomes quite clear that the entire cast is in no real danger, due to having that strange immunity from danger that being a main character grants you. This means that we are simply stuck watching these unlikeable characters do things we don't care about. It would have at least been passable if the action had been well-directed, but it really isn't. There are no fight scenes that really stick out (barring the aforementioned Boob Matrix, which sticks out for all the wrong reasons). The action is mediocre at best. All of this leaves it up to a plot that really doesn't exist. So what does this leave us with? A show that really doesn't have any positive points at all, really. It's watchable, I'll give it that much, and the first episode was quite good. But it really doesn't follow through on any of the potential it has. The themes in this show have been done before many times, and almost always better.Final Words: Just watch a George A. Romero film instead. Seriously.Animation/Graphics: 4/10Story/Plot: 3/10Music/Background: 6/10Characters: 2/10Overall: 3/10For Fans Of: Hellsing, Elfen Lied.

Ok here is my first reviewThis anime was amazing. I loved a lot of aspects about it-First off the whole anime is based around killing zombies if you dont like that kind of stuff then dont watch simple-The characters and relationships are a bit corny but enjoyable (especially if you like ecchi)-It did very well for the first season Hoping there will be a second (heard it was very popular in America but it didn't do well in Japan, Apparently japanese dont really like this genre

I'm just an average everyday watcher, so take what you read with a grain of salt.If you feel like you might enjoy High School of the Dead, then you are in luck, because you most likely will. Why? Well, because I liked it. I mean, it's not like my opinion matters or anything, it's just that I normally hate these kinds of animes. I hate ecchi animes. But I enjoyed HOTD. Again, why? Let's find out.The plot is basically your average everyday zombie apocalypse plot. The outbreak happens, people band together and try to survive. I may be a bit biased because I've always really liked these types of stories. I love zombie movies and the idea of friends and sometimes complete strangers having to come together and survive. HOTD pulls off this often used plot actually pretty well. I mean, it's nothing special, but it's nothing really bad either. The characters form a group with only a couple people actually knowing each other. Since this is a fanservice show, all the females in the group have comically huge breasts and panty shots are sprinkled in at every opportune and sometimes inopportune time. The main characters are hit and miss. As far as the girls go, you've got the smart bitch, the calm combat specialist, the ditz and the main character's love interest. I really don't know what he sees in her, she's also kind of a bitch. But, that's besides the point. Really the only female character I like was Saeko, because she was badass. The two males in the group consist of the generic hero/leader who is also the main character of the show, and the otaku who just so happens to be a gun nut, so he's quite useful to the group. Whether you like the characters or not depends on whether you feel a character can be saved based on how hot they are. Seeing as how this is a show done by studio madhouse, the animation is actually quite good, and not just for the fanservice. The characters are well animated, move realistically and the backgrounds in this show look like an apocalypse, as they should. Weirdly enough, the angles in the show are pretty good too. Overall, very nice artwork and once again, not just for the fanservice. The music is nothing the write home about, it's generic but works with the show. The opening is pretty damn awesome, awesome enough that I didn't skip it.Overall, HOTD shouldn't be that good at first glance and really, it isn't. But despite annoying fanservice, some unlikeable characters and an otherwise generic plot, I did really enjoy it, and apparently I'm not the only one who feels this way. Many people have indicated HOTD as their guilty pleasure, and so do I. At 12 episodes, it's an anime you can watch in a day and it's a lot of fun. If you go in with the right mindset, you'll have yourself a good ol' zombie slayin' time!

You're sitting in school one day, skipping class. Your genius friend comes to berate you for being so stupid, your childhood crush is dating your best friend, your grades aren't great and you don't have much direction in life. In other words, a usual day. Suddenly you see an undead monster bite a teacher, and from there you can see what happens - all Hell breaks loose, literally, and your first instinct is to save your friends who haven't been treating you all that well recently. Now you have to deal with relationship drama and zombies attacking from every angle; fun, right? Highschool of the Dead is nothing if not simplistic. It has just about every cliche one might expect from a zombie story, so anyone looking for something they have never seen before should look elsewhere. However, it is quite a bit of a breath of fresh air in the anime genre; Western stories are filled with zombie apocalypse scenarios, so much so that one must be exceptional (or a decent comedy) to stand out. Anime, on the other hand, hasn't had the same oversaturation of the zombie genre, so the sort of generic anime antics are applied to what one might think is a worn-out idea to bring about something more interesting than at first glance. Gratuitous ecchi is rampant in Highschool of the Dead. Understandable, as the artist Shōji Satō is quite used to drawing for h-doujinshi and the like. Luckily for him, this artstyle of his fits seamlessly into the world of Highschool of the Dead, and Madhouse did quite an impressive job in translating his art to an anime form. As a result, the adaptation is almost panel-for-panel correct, with only a few creative liberties taken by Madhouse, and this is definitely something to be thankful for as there really wasn't anything to change to make it work. The story itself, as I said before, is simplistic to the point of being very predictable. While this might normally be a bad thing, it actually adds some charm to the series for a few reasons. One is as I said above - anime doesn't have zombie stories around too often if at all, so from that perspective there isn't much that can be generic for the genre. Another is that the normalcy is almost welcome in the zombie genre at this point; too many zombie stories have been written recently using irony, over the top comedy, and post-modernism in order to avoid the inherent silliness of a zombie movie. Fortunately one of anime's high points is that it rarely takes itself too seriously unless it really wants to, and on the other side of the spectrum it is almost never afraid to go the whole nine yards with an aspect before giving into the absurdity of it all and attempting to add other unnecessary things such as irony in order to appear more "edgy." Perhaps that is the reason that the entirely normal and reasonably simple storyline of Highschool of the Dead is still very entertaining. The third and final reason Highschool of the Dead is an enjoyable addition to anime is that the genre actually does lend itself to things anime rarely sees other than zombies - male protagonists that can stand on their own two feet. Takashi, the main character, begins the story appearing to be a normal dejected anime lead, but as soon as the situation gets serious he takes things into his own hands and begins protecting the people around him without hesitation. He still has some of the issues with girls that most anime characters do, but he doesn't whine about them, he deals with them, and when an issue arises he deals with it himself. The other male lead, Hirano, is another anime stereotype-breaking character. He's overweight, wears glasses, and is a gun freak; being obsessive and overweight almost always makes you absolutely useless in anime. However, he takes his chance to shine and from there becomes one of the biggest offensive forces in the group, as well as earning the respect of even the most judging people around him. All in all, Highschool of the Dead may not be the most original anime ever, and it may not have the best written story. But it is truly entertaining for various reasons, the biggest of these being its uniqueness when considering the plethora of endlessly rehashed anime that appear so often. In this regard, it is definitely worth at least checking out.

Ok you have a normal zombie goodness, plus with some sexual cuteness,And then you will have yourself a decent show with some lower expectations.(7)Story: The plot isn't quite appealing because, all it has a zombie outbreak invading the high school. Takashi has to save all of his friends from being eaten by zombies and, yada yada you know what's next for a normal zombie theme. Though it has some entertaining story you may like.(9)Art: A 2010 anime needs great art right? It has it right there. Well designed that even the zombies look so handsome! The characters also looks good. Though, the girl's breast are distracting to look at that it is annoying.(8)Sound: It has very good voice acting. The voice acting is pretty good, with some aggravating characters that may hurt your ears. The ost has great songs to deal with. It matches with the atmosphere scenes. The opening sounds spectacular. Ending theme is awesome too.(8)Character: Now the characters has some good personalities. There some of them will be very extricating.Like the useless character who has very busty chest, who whines all the time and she can only drive. Her name is Shizuka, and she will annoy the crap out of you.The glasses girl name Saya who thinks she is smart all the time but is not.But At least some of the characters are well developed you may like even the supporting characters. Rei is pretty much a very good character. Why? Because she has a very good personalty and great fighting skills.(8)Enjoyment: At the first episode, I was having low expectations of you know what this series has, but it starts with killing zombies after zombies like normally everyone loves. And I started to enjoy this show. Though around episode 5 and when Alice appeared, it starting to decrease my enjoyment. And the ending can not tell you that ruins the show but, let's say it drives you insane. (7)Overall Even though you won't expect to be perfect zombie show, but it has some good moments you will like. Just enjoy the ride and get ready for fanservice.
