Honey and Clover II isn't the greatest anime I've ever seen, but it is my favorite, and I make a point of watching it at least once a year. Where the first series is characterized by its use of humor to punctuate the emotional highlights, this series is much more serious about the conflicts the characters are facing in their lives. This results in a more compact story with a much greater emotional payoff. That's not to say all the humor is gone. One particular scene involving Yamada's unicorn guardians immediately springs to mind. However, this series is shorter than the original, so some of the fluff is gone. The best way to describe this show is the most pleasant heartache you will ever feel. If you were (or are) a college student, this show is the best way I know how to remember the bittersweet feeling of graduation and entering the workforce.
