Seitokai Yakuindomo*
生徒会役員共*Formerly an all-girl school, Ousai Academy has recently gone co-ed. Enter student council vice president Takatoshi Tsuda, one of Ousai's first male students. He's adapting rather well now that he's in his second year, but there's still a lot to get used to. For example, what do girls talk about when there aren't any guys around? In Seitokai Yakuindomo*, pretty much exactly what you'd expect: sex! Although charged with upholding morality among the student body, the Ousai Student Council is notoriously perverted, especially president Shino Amakusa. As they carry out their duties to the school, Tsuda, Shino, and their fellow council members must balance curiosity with decency and sex jokes with studying. It takes a perv to know one, after all!

This review will encompass Seitokai Yakuindomo Season 1, 2 and the OVAs
Plot: Takatoshi Tsuda attends Ōsai Academy, a high school that, due to declining birth rates, is converted from an all girls school to a co-ed school (with a male-to-female ratio of 28:524). On his first day, he is forcibly recruited into the student council as the vice-president and sole male representative. The story follows Tsuda and the student council as they interact with each other and their schoolmates.
Story: There isn't any. This series started out as a comic strip and plays out as such in the anime. Each segment is mostly comprised of one skit and each skit doesn't have major relations to other skits in the series. Some times they do advance the characters relationships with each other but overall the story is non-existent.
Animation: The animation is average. There is no scenes in Seitokai that stand out but overall the animation flows very well.
Sound: The sound of Seitokai is also pretty average and no song with the exception of the intro and ending theme that stand out.
Characters: Now, the characters don't really develop throughout the series. But, I came to enjoy watching them throughout the show. You also don't learn much about the characters in the series since the main focus of this show is to turn everything into a double entendre.
Enjoyment: I did really enjoy this series. The jokes were alot of times witty and funny. But, after awhile you could kind of see them coming. Seitokai turns just about everything into a dirty joke so by the second season most of the jokes are obvious before the characters even say them. I would still recommend this to anyone who is not easily offended and enjoys a good laugh.

NOTE: Take any review with a grain of salt. Neutral reviews don't exist. No review is without bias, which is why my final ratings are solely based on personal enjoyment only. They can be completely subjective and should not be taken as a representation of your own views. Always watch the anime for yourself and use others' reviews as a guideline or reference point. I respect your opinions and I hope you will also do so in return.
Hey everyone! Welcome to my second review. Today, we will be penetrating into the gaping orifice of the Seitokai Yakuindomo series. Since the two seasons are practically identical, this review can compensate for both seasons (BUT that does NOT mean you should watch the second season first).
Now then...think long and hard, how often do you perceive daily quotes with having another "deeper" meaning to them? It gets pretty hot and sticky once you get a firm grasp on it. Double entendres means double the pleasure, and this series will give you that pleasure! Oh baby (if you haven't caught on by now, then this show is probably not for you)! You ain't going to get your typical ecchi panty shots here! It's all words baby and you'll get plenty of it shoved down your throat! Produced by Starchild Records, whose past works include "K" and "Kokoro Connect" (all them K's), Seitokai Yakuindomo* is the direct sequel to Seitokai Yakuindomo (hehehe look at the asterisk "*"...it's a buttho-sorry sorry I'll stop...but who knows, it may actually symbolize that)
Standing erect, Ousai Academy was originally an all female school. When the school finally allowed co-ed, things get down and dirty.
Where is this school again? I'd like to enroll...
Now, jokes aside, I firmly believe that a story should be judged based on the context and what the manga intended. The Yakuindomo series' purpose is for the sake of comedy through random daily slice of life moments. Its popularity primarily arose from its randomness and array of different but hilarious moments. In other words, if you're looking for a complete, solid, and a coherent story, you're probably going to be disappointed. Comparing it to other slapstick comedy anime such as Baka to Test, it has less coherence and direction in terms of story, so the more suitable comparison to this anime would be Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, since they are both constantly changing scenarios and situations. This may not appeal to some, but to me it offers a fresh experience every time you watch an episode, since you don't have to constantly try to interpret what the characters and story are trying to portray to you. All you need to understand is their references and innuendos. But that's not saying that you can just watch something and forget about it, for the series will also refer back to specific moments from earlier episodes. Knowing a lot of slang or informal words would also be beneficial, since the characters love to allude to certain body parts constantly. So you may have to guess at what they are referring to.
Other times, they aren't so subtle.
And the award for best guarded v*gina goes to...
But if you can figure out that when they say that something is wet and dripping or when they mention someone is "going at it alone", you'll be fine. Also, in case you STILL haven't noticed, if you don't like sexual innuendos, then steer clear from this series, because the unforgiving innuendos in this show will give you a harsh and forceful pounding (and believe me, they won't stop, even when you cry for mercy). Although the concentration is on the innuendos, there is an underlying romance aspect to it, and typically the anime will tease at that. But overall, if you're into that kinky wordplay stuff, then you'll definitely enjoy the pounding that you're going to receive.
You'll get to love them as the anime progresses. Despite the lack of background information, you'll grow to like them through their daily interactions and jokes.
The main four characters of the student council are:
Tsuda Takatoshi
He is the main male protagonist, and he is basically the overseer of the group. When the situation gets too dirty, he's the one that comments on it (usually critical) and keeps things "under control". He is also the prone of many inadvertent sex jokes by other characters (since he's the only relevant MALE student in the anime and we all know why that is) and is often exposed to numerous others as well. Sometimes you wonder how on earth can he take all that everyday. BUT he is a central figure to the anime and serves as essential icing on the cake of many innuendos in the anime.
Amakusa Shino
Ahh the class president. Tall. Smart. Nice. Strict yet fair. And possesses a REALLY ignorant perverted mind. ALL traits of an ideal leader....She shows absolutely no shame in blurting out sex jokes and will often refer to them even in the most casual and serious of moments. She is also VERY VERY VERY self conscious about her breast size. But everything else is fair game. There is no defining line between what is considered appropriate talk and what isn’t for her. She’ll take the most innocent sentence and make it dirty. This is a good thing. She is what makes the show shine.
Now you'll never look at a piano the same way ever again.
Your classroom too...
Baseball too...ok I'll stop...
Shoutout to motivational posters :3...
Hagimura Suzu
The midg...oh don't say that around her! She'll get REALLY mad. She is as self conscious of her height as Shino is of her breast size. Bad things will happen...
SUZU RAGE! Prepare for a midget slapdown!
BOW DOWN TO SUZU YOU MONGREL!
Yes this is basically how you'll see her almost half the time in the show. Even the camera doesn't bother. Such respect hehe...
Suzu is undoubtedly the smartest character in the entire show. Despite her size, she is a genius and is actually one of the very few characters in the story, like Tsuda, who actually has the regular non-perverted mindset. She also serves as a warden of the activities in the student council. But her serious personality is often overshadowed by the pervertedness of...everyone else, but nonetheless her presence makes the show refreshing. She is especially funny whenever her height is referenced. She basically plays the female role of Tsuda.
Shichijou Aria
Aria is the rich/perfect girl of the anime. You can say that she pretty much has everything. Grades (yes she is a top student), looks, kindness, and (to Shino's GREAT dismay) the perfect body. BUT when it comes to male/female interactions and activities and...life, she's as bright as a di*do. She is often fairly clueless and will often seem helplessly innocent (HAH... FAR from it). Like Shino, she is also extremely curious of the human body. She is also much more daring than Shino. Together, they form a duo of insurmountable perversion.
Meh...not a tough choice at all...
*Clap clap clap* So proud of you Aria...NOBEL PRIZE WORTHY!
Oh...and beware of the teacher...
She prefers young ones...watch your back
If you're thinking what I think you're thinking when it comes to visuals, lemme tell you now that it's rated PG animation for the most part. Where it IS suggestive, it's probably PG-13ish. You ain't going to get cheap ecchi shots very often, because it's all about the dialogue. There ARE some small ecchi moments as the jokes are being told where silhouettes of people are doing...things....The second season also gets a bit more daring and risque.
That being said, the visuals of the second season are very identical to the first, although the second season improves on the shading, lighting, and smoothing. Animated by Starchild Records, it's colorful, vibrant, and overall looks very nice, similar to their previous works on K, AKB0048, and Aku no H...you know what, let's move on....Additional smaller touches and details seem to be added here and there as well, adding to the atmosphere.
Suzu's name in SYD* is now in 3-D!! THREEEEE-DEEEEEEEE!! :D
The OP (Hanasaku☆Saikyou Legend Days) is awesome:
The soundtrack, while not TOO memorable, overall does its job well to portray the atmosphere, and add to the comedic moments of the anime.
The real star of the sound is the voice acting. Each character's voice is done perfectly to portray their character. You can hear the amazement of Shino and Aria as they turn a vibrator on (yes....a vibrator). You can hear Suzu's anger and annoyance whenever a reference to her height is made. You can hear the lust and fake innocence that the teacher has. You can hear the monotonous "are you f***ing kidding me?!" tone of Tsuda whenever a sexual innuendo is referenced. The voice acting was overall outstanding.
Enjoyment
As you can tell, I loved this series. I was always fond of puns and innuendos, and this show delivered. I laughed a lot from the references, and the jokes that they make are sometimes so outrageous that it's hilarious to listen to and watch the characters react. I wholeheartedly enjoyed this anime and it ranks as one of my favorite slapstick comedies out there. You'll laugh, you'll facepalm, you'll want to mastur...sorry sorry...but my point is that you'll have a blast with this anime if you like punny jokes. I know I had definitely had a pun time watching it.
Remember, laughter is the best medicine.
Recommendations
For alternate hilarious anime, I recommend:
Baka to Test (Idiot and Test)
And
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (The Daily Lives of High School boys)
Between these two, if you liked Yakuindomo, you'll love these as well. These two are among the best slapstick comedies out there too. They are NO where nearly as sexually suggestive though. They are just pure hysteria.
Aaaaand there we have it! I appreciate you sticking with me 'til now. Hopefully your computer didn't crash loading all these pictures! I thank you for reading my second review! Until my next (maybe) review, enjoy yourself! (Yes....go enjoy and pleasure yourself....alone)
