MUSHI-SHI -Next Passage-

蟲師 続章

They existed long before anyone can remember. They are simple and strange in nature, not resembling any other plant or animal in this world. In ancient times, people revered these bizarre creatures and called them "Mushi." People once again began to believe in the existence of these "Mushi" when they began affecting their lives in inexplicable ways. The one who connects the world of "Mushi" to the world of humans—they were called the "Mushi-shi." All life exists not to hinder others in this world. They are simply there to live as they were meant to. (Source: Aniplex USA)

HyperWind's review #8 (original review for Mushishi)

Many things I said about the original retain in this series too, so instead of doing my section-by-section analysis I'll just mention the differences,

speak out my personal opinion and my final thoughs on this show.

-- Differences --

There weren't many. The story kept it's original format and retained that solidness and good presentation as the first season, though I noticed more corelations to classical folk stories in this one

than the last season.

--

Ginko's character as awesome as ever, but this time they focused more on the side characters, giving them more solid motivations and justification, clearing up some logic holes from the original.

--

From the technical side I noticed that they slightly changed the are style, by adding more of this traditional Japanese line are look to the characters, but essentially it's the same.

--

The music remained the same, still having that calm but intriguing vibe, but this time they hit the center with the opening. The opening of the previous season, while good, sounded kinda off, but this one, my good, it was perfect, really loved it, I might even buy the full song.

-- My opinion and final thoughts --

Mushishi is great, it always was great, I fell in love with this series from the first sight. It just perfectly balances on the line between a complex and a pretty simple (but enjoyable) story and does

mostly everything right from the beginning.

It also delivers the slice of life aspect really good, not losing focus of the characters and their interactions while telling a concrete story.

I'd still recommend this to everyone, though if you didn't like the first season don't expect anything else from this one.

-- Other Details --

Directed mostly by Hiroshi Nagahama.

Music by Toshio Masuda.

Animated by studio Artland.

Licensed by Madman Entertainment in Australia and Aniplex in the USA.

Originally aired from the 5th of April to the 21st of December, 2014 with a stop somewhere in the middle to let the animators rest before starting the second arc.

Mushishi: The Next Chapter is the next season of Mushishi and a lot like the 1st season I loved it such a good series. No real story to keep track of it is basically a bunch of stories put together. I love the way the anime is put together really gets you hooked because it is something new every episode something fresh to catch your attention. I recommend this anime to anyone who likes fantasy style anime this anime is honestly incredible and still one of my top watched because of how every episode is filled with something interesting there is not a single episode I'd want to skip or think should be taken out. This is the prime example of a perfectly rounded anime good story, animation, characters, and overall nice feel everything brings you into this anime more and more with every episode.

This season of Mushishi is much like the first in that there is no single story line to follow. The anime consists of several stories that have to do with Ginko (mc) solving instances where mushi, spirit-like beings, are involved. I'm glad to experience the mild yet interesting stories each episode has to offer yet again. The art style and themes have carried over and the mc's personality is still solid. For the anime of its kind, I prematurely give this season an 8/10 and hope to enjoy it as much as the last!

My first ever review :P
