To be honest, omake shows are a big reason why I was drawn to anime. Sure, they're not the greatest animation-wise, but they have a bit of charm and humor to make up for it. Love Live seems like an excellent medium for some chibi humor shorts with the nine members of Mu's, but that's not what this really is. It's hard to even call this an 'animation', actually.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. The whole plot is that Mu's is having a big concert soon, so to get inspiration for the concert's theme, they go to an amusement park of all places. Hijinks ensue. It's your typical Love Live plot, with your typical Love Live characters. What's interesting about it is that there is actually a tiny bit of character development on Umi and Eli's part. Not a whole lot, just a tiny bit. But it was enough to make me appreciate their characters more.

About that animation...it's tiny chibi-head portraits of the characters on a static background. It's actually more akin to the skit-styled specials for the Tales of series. I adore those specials, so I have no problem with this choice of animation. However, I have a feeling these moments would be more magical if they were properly animated, like in the show.

This is actually my first time listening to the Japanese voices of Love Live outside of the songs, and while I like the voices, there's something within me that's saying something's wrong. Perhaps it's because I'm accustomed to the English voices of the main show, which are just as good if not better. I don't remember much of the music, but I don't think it left a bad impression on me.

So, while this isn't the greatest of omake specials, I can give a fair recommendation to anyone even remotely interested in this three-episode OVA. It kind of makes me want to watch a Mu's concert, actually... >.>
