Kuttsukiboshi

くっつきぼし

To Kiiko Kawakami, there was nothing in the world as important to her as Aaya Saitou. Something about her allured Kiiko to the extent that there was no sound sweeter to her ears than Aaya's voice and no sight more beautiful than her hair softly billowing in the wind. It was for that reason she let Aaya in on her secret: last year, she had gained psychic powers from an accident that changed her life.Kuttsukiboshi is a story of infatuation and romance between two girls as their feelings for one another reach the tipping point. Unable to deny their heartfelt desires, the two give into them and make many sweet memories together around the school—testing the bounds of Kiiko's powers and how far they can go without being caught in the midst of their trysts. However, will things remain as they are when Kiiko discovers the love of her life has a dark secret of her own?

This anime made me feel weird. A kind of weird I can't say I've ever felt before. I liked it.

Story/characters
The story is a couple of young dykes are friends. One has magical powers, the other likes sex a lot. Those are their defining characteristics. It starts out fairly normal. It's yuri, they're gay, you know the drill. However, one chick lifts a cat down from a tree with her mind, and I was like, "Okay, that's kind of a cute little addition," but they took it further than I thought they would. It's only two episodes and I don't want to give away anything(literally gave away everything in the summary) so I'll just say this isn't at all what I expected.

Animation
Low budget. One man band. Blah blah. It's actually quite charming. A lot of stills in the establishing shots and not always fluid, but it was nice.

Sound.
Bad. Even being a non Japanese speaker, I could tell the voice acting was sub par. The music was not at all memorable either. Best would probably be the episode two ending.

Honestly? I enjoyed the hell out of this. It was different. It gave me an experience I won't soon forget. I laughed at the absurd and exaggerated nature of it, yet it had my full attention. The drama was forced and out of nowhere, but I always wanted to know what would happen next. I wanted to like this either sarcastically, or in a so bad it's good kind of way, but by the end of it, I was left in a half laughing, half crying state of self-analysis, prepped and ready for the most euphoric mental breakdown of all time. There was no breakdown, though. Just satisfaction. It gave me something: a feeling of time well spent discovering something new, and I love it for that. This is definitely a weird anime, but give it a try.

I really like this a lot but the animation could be better. Given that it was low budget I can forgive this tho.

I learned that, with the power of love, you can teleport.

So, here's the thing, this is not the first yuri-centric anime that I've ever had the pleasure to watch and it sure as hell isn't the last. Kuttsukiboshi is only two episode but let me go ahead and tell you this, this is NOT what you are expecting. I'm sure you're thinking, "Pshh yeah right Gold I bet this is just another bleh school romance." Well, guess what. YOU SHUT YOUR UNEDUCATED WHORE MOUTH. Ahem hmm, sorry about that. As I was saying, this is not what you are expecting. Kuttsukiboshi actually genuinely surprised me. At first it starts innocently enough, but it actually managed to pull of a twist that legitimately left me stunned. Would I call this an absolutely perfect specimen of yuri anime? Well no, it is definitely lacking in many ways but I give it the benefit of the doubt considering it's only two episodes and clearly didn't have a very impressive budget. Now is it worth a watch? Yes, go watch it. Like now. Right after you finish reading this review you should go watch it.

In summation: That was a lot of aggressive yuri action.

I can't believe nobody has taken the time to review this yet, and most of all, the poor rating that this anime has recieved.

If you're somebody who enjoys a shoujo anime at all, I can say that this is honestly a top pick for you. As you can tell from the picture, it focuses on 'yuri." It has a very powerful love theme that really hits home. I was both surprized and impressed with the quality, of what would seem, an anime that lacked all budgetting and even length. For two episodes this is probably the most intensely, emotionally dense show that I have ever seen.

For a two episode anime I thought that perhaps the story would seem rushed and incomplete. However, this anime has concluded itself on a level like no other. It really comes around and ties itself together in the second half.

The story is brilliant. The animation is of the best quality imaginable for the budget the recieved. Sound is perfect. There are only really two characters who play an important role in this show and they're played out perfect.

I gave this a 10. It really deserves it. The fact that it's two episodes and managed to captivate and output so much really is what puts it above the 8 and 9 mark. I've never been so moved and thoroughly impressed in 48 minutes.
