A series that did exactly what the title said it would do and had thousands of shippers cry tears of despair as their favorite wifu was not chosen at the end.
By the end of this it fans everywhere will know that Incest is most definitely WINCEST!!!

I watched the first season because of a friend, and then, continued the second because I thought there'd be an end to this shit, but it was just too far away so I dropped the anime after a few episodes in the second season. I dropped it because it's absolute shite. Fucking incest bullshit with no actual story except that nonsense, just to satisfy the little perverted incest fanboys who will fap to a 15 y/o obnoxious and annoying girl getting aroused by her 17 y/o retarded wimp brother. Plus the whole harem situation crap that constructs around the MC, plus all the random bullshit that this anime has, it's fucking horrible. Don't waste your time watching another mangaka's wet pedophile dream of fucking their little sister or having an over-the-top brother complex, this shit is wrong on so many levels I don't even. Farewell forever, OreImo. Overall 1/10. Fuck this shit.

Full of plot twists that will leave you in awe.

I was thinking of doing a review for the entire OreImo series, but it's clear that each of the two belong in their own niches. Lovers of the first season might as well become haters of the second, but that all comes down to perspective. As for me, I really enjoyed both seasons, yet found flaws with both as well. This being my first review here, I plan on giving my best to create an innocent, cute little incest-free review of OreImo.... yeah not happening.
Story
It's a hard job trying to separate the characters from a story from a romance anime like OreImo, as both are integral parts of each other. Defining the story as just the plot line and it's presentation is this sections intent. Season 2 starts with where Season 1 left. Kirino is back home. Kyosuke now must figure out what he's going to do with his reinvented relationship with Kirino, which improved over the past year. The events in Season 2 of OreImo take place over the next year of high school for Kyosuke, in which case more happens than did in even Season 1.
The basis of OreImo Season 2 revolves around the strengthening of the relationships that were already established in Season 1. While Season 1 involved the introduction of new characters, Season 2 was really about developing the interactions between those characters. No significant new characters are introduced in Season 2 while many of the ones in Season 1 get their own arcs as they try and get their way with the main character.
So, Season 2 is whem OreImo becomes a full harem anime compared to the Season 1, which was more of a slice-of-life/comedy. The main character has multiple love interests and must address all of them, and by all of them, I pretty much mean ALL of them. And to the point where it becomes cumbersome in some episodes. There's even an episode where a minor character takes a random 3 minutes from an episode to usher a confession, only to never be spoken of ever again.
But even so, OreImo rises above other harem anime in the sense that it actually develops the relationships between the characters, as well as add closure to the story and tie up loose ends. No doubt, there were some cliche episodes, but there were also many refreshing ones. Not to mention, there is a strict limit to the number of sexual The outlandish circumstances that lead to the outlandish events in OreImo become anticipated in accordance to the tone of the series as a whole. Moreso, OreImo continues the trend of presenting multiple perspectives on otaku culture, but less so than Season 1 did.
Overall, the Story was a fairly strong part of the anime, though it fell flat on its face at a few select points in the anime.
Characters
Season 2 keeps its bright and colorful cast of characters, and the cast proves that this anime is a harem more than anything else, with the main and minor characters consisting of primarily female characters, and of those, most of which find some way to be affiliated with our oh-so average main character. Seriously, why can't every man be as lucky as these guys.
Kyosuke is still the headstrong, yet indecisive slave for all of the female characters to boss around, while Kirino is still as much of a bitch and the definition of tsundere as she was in the first season. Kureneko also serves a bigger role in this season, being the fated rival to Kirino and all.
There is actually quite a great deal of character development in Season 2 as we get to see different aspects of each female character that we never saw before as they take up their own small arcs, including an entire episode dedicated to the exploration of Kirino's childhood, uncovering reasons for her current actions and behaviors. But even so, there's good development and then there's bad development.
I felt that this Season had much of the problem that Season 1 had. OreImo tends to show their characters in full light in an an episode or two, then proceeds to drop them from mention entirely come the next episode. Although there was a lot of development, the constant cram and dump didn't amount to much in the end. (life lessons here)
A lot of the characters also received negative developments to their characters to their characters in the end, namely Ayase and Manami, who completely throw away their personalities, character tropes, and development from Season 1 all for the sake of our overly average main character. A few of the characters that I really loved before become unlikable for a moment or two as they said or did things that were simply out of character. The entire onset of these character's changes felt like a rushed attempt to shove in some emotional moments in a time slot not big enough for even an virtual little sister to fit in. Good emotional moments aren't spontaneous, and require enough time and development for them to have adequate effect. These characters change way too much in a short amount of time to be any good in their respective time in the spotlight.
Meanwhile Kureneko remains the ideal stereotype of the socially awkward otaku girl that's both strange and amazing in her own way, although the strangeness gets to me on more than one occasion. Her arc was one of the more enjoyable parts of the anime, and she was one who got more than a single episode of screen time to achieve development.
The character developments go to Kirino and Kyosuke as they face numerous conflicts together. Both characters are seen to have their faults and their charms, but neither is completely likable either. Many of their actions and lines have me face-palming and wanting to ask the writers, "Why. Why, oh Why?!?" The growth of these two throughout the story is what is meant to spark the majority of the emotions in the audience, however, much of the development failed to invoke any emotional response in me due to the circumstances of the situation.
It was a noble attempt, but I don't think any of the character developments did what they intended. While Season 2 of OreImo took one step forward by trying to develop its characters, it also took two steps back by ravaging the personalities of some through a few uncharacteristic actions while discontinuing the presence of others after their time in the spotlight.
Animation
It's getting late now, and I actually want to finish this review, so now that all the bulk of the analysis is done for, it's just some light commentary and opinions to share.
There's not much to animate in Harem anime compared to your typical shonen or action, but interestingly enough, there's some of that to be found in OreImo, Aside from the random fantasy battles, animeception, and comical fights, overall the animation was solid throughout. OreImo definitely provides some of the best animation in Harem anime that I've ever seen.
Also special props to the running scene. Being a runner myself, I really enjoyed it.
Sound
The bulk of OreImo Season 2 used the same soundtrack as Season 1.The opening and endings continued to be refreshing with no two ever being the same. (don't quote me on that one) The voice acting was tremendous and I don't believe there was a single weak performance from any of the characters, not even the minor ones. The soundtrack included a variety of music, from the typical light-hearted, gag and comedy music to the dramatic piano-accompanied pieces. The only complaint I can bring is that the music wasn't used enough, as if it were included in some of the dialogue sections, it would have definitely enhanced the experience.
Enjoyment
I've enjoyed the second season as much as the first, contrary to popular opinion on this anime. Even through all of its flaws, there's still plenty of smiles, laughs, and feels to be had with this anime. Although the main character is quite ridiculous, at least he isn't a pure perverted pussy of a man like some in the harem genre are. (yes I'm looking at you Makoto Itou) And Kirino is just one of those guilty pleasures of mine to watch, EXACTLY like those erogames she has stored in her closet. Considering that the story and everything else pretty much revolves around these two, that's a pretty important factor.
I'm able to overlook almost all of my annoyances with the characters and plot in regards to my enjoyment simply because those are only things that bother you after you have finished watching any single episode. While you're watching it, the lightheartedness of the series and the pure comedy and joy that reverberates through every frame prevents you from actually having to worry about any errors made on the writers part, and allows you to simply enjoy the anime for what it is or what it's not. It's one of those deceptively captivating animes that people love to watch despite not knowing why. (kinda like SAO) It doesn't require that you stop thinking entirely, as is the case with Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann, but it allows you to follow a simple thought process in which you don't have to think too much to analyze the situation. It's in part because of the great storytelling method that allows the writers to lead you on a train of thought that they want you to have, and because of that, OreImo is a perfect anime just to relax and enjoy.
I really had no problems DURING the viewing of this anime.... until the ending
The Ending
The ending of OreImo has proven to be quite controversial, and my thoughts of which can be summed up here. http://youtu.be/lT5NuM-7B4o?t=7m11s
But that aside, for a spoiler-free commentary of the ending, I'd say that the ending pissed me off tremendously. Does it give closure to the series? Yes, but in the most unsatisfying way ever. As with the characters, it just takes everything that was built up before, tears it up in the claws of a vengeance-seeking cat, and then smashes it to pieces with a magical girl arrow from outer space. The ending is pretty much a big FU to everyone and anyone who's watched the anime. The anime proceeds to tie up the smallest of loose ends in a rush, but then leaves the biggest one under a huge pile of rubble, which I assume are the remains of the institution that created this anime.
If you haven't figured it out by now, this anime treads heavily in the territory of incest, more so than any other actual anime I've seen so far. (don't bring H into this) No doubt, anyone writing, producing, or directing a story with incest in it will have their reputation to protect, so OreImo successfully or unsuccessfully provides a way to bullshit your way out of it, all without answering a single one of the questions it has posed about the matter. It's almost as if OreImo wants you to think that incest is okay, but then retracts its statements like a rat that scurries back into its hole after its ventured too far out. The ending fails to do anything for the series and more or less just gives the viewers something to talk about.
The ending was aggravating to say the least, but it doesn't detract too much from the entirety of the series.
Synopsis
OreImo 2 is one of the better harem anime's out there, while maintaining much of the slice-of-life and comedy styles that made Season 1 good. It uses great storytelling techniques to create an extremely enjoyable series that you'll feel guilty about enjoying. But once you take a step away from the screen, the crumbling of the character development becomes apparent.
The story maintains a refreshing perspective on the world of anime, manga, and games while not including an overload of fanservice, and thank god, not another beach scene. The story, however, rushes itself in more ways than one and fails to create moments that are really emotionally gripping.
The sound and animation are some of the stronger points of this anime and truly add to the experience. However aggravating and controversial the ending is, it's more of a unique statement that can only be made by OreImo and OreImo alone. There are still many great parts of the anime that will make up for even the ending.
Finally, there's one thing that must be said: My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute .... because I'm an otaku and I think girls in anime are far cuter. There I said it. No Regrets.

I really really really hope there is a Season 3 that they make or are in the works now...I wonder if their is a Oreimo game like for a mac, that be awesome!!! ^-^

No anime has really made me giggle like an idiot like this one, nor have I ever seen a couple cuter.
I guess its easy to put off for some, but I found it quite touching, except for the very end, which seemed to be kind of a cop out, and was a bit heart breaking, and made me go through the Kubler-Ross model. I read the Light Novel first so I guess I kind of got how all the characters felt, but the characters are quite different, and kirinos a bit more likable in the LN. The characters actions are all realistically stupid and express it in a rather unrealistic way though. Somehow they pull off being cuter than any character from anywhere else though.
As for the clearly incestuous romance thing, I kind of thought forbidden love is kind of cute. Awkward, having siblings, but cute.

A very good sequel to an already good series. Yes a lot of people might say how this series is "ok" or how its worse than season 1 but thats completely wrong, this season was as good as season 1, funny and very enjoyable but actually had some good character development and a bit more love ;) which leads to amazing situations and makes you wonder every episode how it will end, episode 13 isn't much of a series ender and the episode overall felt a bit off, its pretty much a flashback but it gives us the viewers the reason why Kirino is the way she is and how she became that way, now just waiting for the extra 3 episodes with the proper ending on august the 8th :3 if you enjoyed season 1 this is a must see.

One of the good anime of Spring 2013. Has a lot of funny moments and the classic Tsundere imouto. A must watch if you are an OreImo fan or if you just read its light novel.

I'd be the first person to tell you that Season 1 was way better than I thought it would be. I actually liked it, which surprised me, as I thought I would hate it. Hearing there was a second season, I was a little mixed, because I had this feeling that if the show went on any longer it might actually lead to incest. I was fine with the Season 1 ending, but I watched Season 2 anyway. I'm here to say I made a huge mistake. Where Season 1 was funny, different, and just a joy to watch, Season 2 was boring, cliche, and annoying to watch. The show got too serious for its own good, and it suffered because of it. It also doesn't help that this season had the same amount of time to adapt 2 extra light novels, so a lot of the books were taken out (more than what was taken out in Season 1 at least). I didn't like where they went with any of the characters. Kirino was even more of a bitch than she was last season, Kyousuke became really freaking weird (it was borderline creepy really), and nobody else was important. Aside from Kuroneko, who is cool. We learn more about Saori, which was a good thing, but that wasn't enough to save the rest of this show from being really bad. The production values in this show stayed the same from the previous season, which was another good thing. I will admit that I didn't find either of the jpop openings or ending particularly good, but they aren't bad either. But no amount of amazing openings and endings would make this shows story any better (and it isn't the kind of show you can watch just for how good it looks and sounds). Overall, I think you are better off just not watching Season 2, and letting the show end at Season 1 (after the 4 OVAs). A good ending might have changed my vote, but I got spoiled of the ending and all I'll say is this: it isn't good. Overall: 61/100
