Exploding body parts, struggling to stay alive till the last second and seeing your fellow comrades fall in a pile of blood and gore are the norm to them now. They are aware now that Gantz can call them up along with any new deeds, at any time for another confrontation with aliens. Will Kato's experiences in the Gantz world give him the same courage in the real world? This stage is very crucial to the manga fans because this is where the filler part comes in that leaves many of the fans unsatisfied. Unfortunately it goes the same for the viewers because, even though the anime is one of a kind and the plot is something unique, the viewers are still left with unanswered questions in the end. In Gantz: 2nd Stage we can see a few things that are dominant with the smooth transition between both stages, The first is the characters' development and acceptance to the lifestyle with Gantz, and the second the climax that ends the show with unfavorable scenes.

When you start Gantz: 2nd Stage, it doesn't feel like there is a new atmosphere like the concept of a new season because there was not gap in weeks. Hell, even the theme songs didn't change! However, you get a sense that the plot is heading to another direction by its own, away from the manga, and a direction that sets the development of the characters as well as the aliens Gantz targets on a new level. We noticed that the main characters such as Kurono Kei and Katou Masaru are taking new roles and new controls on the people who are transferred into the Tokyo Aparement. We also see the love triangle between the two main characters and Kishimoto Kei takes another twist. Unfortunately, Kishimoto is still annoying. The most noticeable change is how the team is now prepared to battle before being sent off, with a whole strategy and leadership roles received from Katou Masaru and the bond between him and Kei Kurono.

Even though the characters have their own development, the plot does not fit the ending very well. Some might be pleased, but most people are unpleasant with the ending because it leaves us in a position where we still want to know more about Gantz and about the whole secret behind it. The good thing is that the anime doesn't invent its own reasoning but instead leaves things unanswered so that it stays loyal to the manga, and this gives us an op-ed kind of ending (at least to those who only watch the anime.)

Overall, Gantz is one of those shows that you can't forget whether you like it or not. It gives a fair dose of action, adventure, gore, romance and of course boobs and vulgarity. I would recommend you to watch this if you are into shocking scenarios and instant blast of gore.
