I picked up this show on the basis that it was short, funny, and sweet. I decided that my foray back to watching anime would be with short episodes and this show didn't disappoint. There wasn't much in the way of story (as expected from a short form), but character development especially on Takahashi's part is pretty sweet. Animation is bright and strange from what I've seen so far. Opening song fits the show well, obviously.
Throughout, I always thought about how strange or weird the other characters were compared to Takahashi, but that was honestly the point of the whole show! This show is about a news anchor landing a job on the infamous World Fool News. His experience there has been anything but normal, but he does have fun. This realization only comes to him close to the end when he meets up with an old classmate later in the series.
Everyone in the studio has their own quirk (and I do mean this loosely), and it takes him a while to realize that he does as well. Everyone thinks that they're going through life, living as normally as possible, until someone points out something regarded as 'weird'. The news that the program talks about are surely weird, and the guests that they have are also just as 'weird' as the news headlines themselves. I think what this show does best (wrapping it up nicely close to the end) is that it makes you know all of the main characters best in just 10 or so minute increments of episodes. I learned to love them all for who they are, Shimohira especially.
This short anime asks you to live your life the way you want to, even if it means not conforming to the norm (unless it's murder or whatever).

World Fool News is a fun, short form comedy show that is sure to bring a smile, and I would recommend it to anybody looking for something quick to squeeze in between the various hype trains you've jumped on this season.
I found World Fool News when I was looking through crunchyroll's simmulcasts, and was instantly drawn in by it's cute art style. The show is about a news presenter, who has been moved from his midday news job to a job at 'World Fool News', a program that is rumored to be run by a bunch of weirdos. Most of the shows plot points are based on the antics of the various people working at the station and there interactions, along with the weird stories they present every night.
Somewhat reminiscent of shows like the simpsons, the art can be a bit off putting if you're used to realistic graphics, but the stylised nature of the show really suits it. It keeps the tone of the show light and the wide range of expressions that the form allows really enhances the overall feel of the show.
Now, where it really matters, the comedy. Most of the time, the comedy is pretty decent, although the comedic style of the show won't be for everyone. Most of the jokes are found in the interactions between the many characters on the job, and the clashes between their characters. Takahashi (The main) Is presented as a serious guy who is an 'outsider' to the weird going ons in World Fool News, and so he has a hard time adjusting. The jokes can sometimes fall a little flat, but most of the time they are pretty funny.
Some of the time, the joke will be one that builds up over the whole episode, with a reveal at the end, and I can see that this could lose some people. I personally enjoyed myself, but for those with little patience or with a dislike for what can be seen as 'silly' comedy, then this might not be the show for you. If you need help deciding, whether it's your thing, watch and episode. The old series can be found on youtube, the new series is a re-make / re-editing of the original series, but the stories and feel of it is mostly the same. So get a feel for it, this video is of one of the segments they present:
(Make sure to turn on captions for subtitles)
As it stands at the time of the review, you can find the old series on youtube and the new series for all users on crunchyroll.
