Cool art style ....BUT it's very slow and not much happens. It build up something awesome and then slap you in the face.
If you like gore then this is a show for you. It sure have a lot of that.
I would give it more points if the show was going somewhere and had more speed and action. It's just soooooo sloooooow I started to sleep in some episodes. That is not good.

This is one of my favorite anime's by far. My only negative opinion comes from the fact that they never animated the second half of the story. Other wise this anime would probably be my favorite. It is not main stream, but anyone who loves action/samurai anime should watch this.

Best Mature Samurai Anime by far.
First of all - this anime is not for everyone. Most of anime is pretty childish or at least have some childish elements to it. Shigurui has none. It's filled with gore, depression, ambition and silence. It's really slow paced and you'll probably wont understand what's happening after seeing it just once, cause it shows not only what is happening, but also what have happened or what one plans to do or what might have happened. I know it sound complicated, but trust me - Shigurui is anime which you will hate or you might love. So if you don't like the first episode - don't go on, just drop it - it's not for you, but if you are like me - you'll watch it twice in the first week and then you'll read manga which is now finished. Anime shows only the 1/4 of the full story and probably wont be resumed, that's too bad, but understandable, because it targets very specific audience.
After watching/reading shigurui I was desperately looking for another great samurai anime or manga and failed. If you know one, please send me a message. :)
The biggest drawback of shigurui is that it is complicated to follow; what I mean is that story is so silent and many things are left unsaid. But if you like the first episode you'll enjoy the rest, if you dont - at least you wont have to watch any further.. :)
