You know you've got a masterpiece on your hands when you see a work that fully lives up to its hype.

Tekkon Kinkreet story-wise was perfectly executed - the plot moved on fast, but it didn't feel rushed. It was smart and never considered the viewer stupid. It didn't explain anything, yet there was no need for explanations. It was never simple yet never too difficult to follow. Same was with characters' actions. They weren't stupid. They were crazy, weird, drunk, foolish, but never stupid. Yes, the characters were archetypes. Yes, I had seen them before, yet they were played so that you knew there was more to them than just the stereotype, especially the main duo. In the first moments of the movie I judged the animation by the shitty-looking character designs, but very quickly I understood that it looked like that for style. The animation itself was fluid and its action scenes were better than most actual action movie's. The backgrounds were very detailed and showed the mood of the movie perfectly. The climax takes the cake style-wise. Music-wise the cake stealer is the intro and outro songs, not to say that the little pieces in the middle of the movie were anything less than really good.

The only thing that derails the otherwise great work is clad in spoilers, so I won't tell that. Okay, alright, just a hint - I hoped for a different ending.

Overall I enjoyed Tekkon Kinkreet very much like most did, and I recommend it to anyone who is over his Narutard phase and is able to enjoy something a bit smarter.

Also, this is one of the shows to be enjoyed dubbed.

My first review and for my first review, I bring you Sony Picture Home Entertainment's latest anime DVD release - Tekkon Kinkreet!Story - 10/10In Treasure Town, life can be both gentle and brutal. This is never truer for our heroes, Black and White, two street urchins who watch over the city, doing battle with an array of old-world Yakuza and alien assassins vying to rule the decaying metropolis.Art - 10/10Done by Studio 4C, the famous studio that brought you beautiful pieces such as Mind Game and Mahou Shoujo Tai (also known as Tweeny Witches, which is being released here in R1 by Media Blasters), the animation is solid and beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking. This animation alone should be enough to buy it.Sound - 10/10An excellent overall soundtrack. Very beautiful and majestic numbers done by the artists. The ending them song is called "A Town in Blue" and it's sung by Asian Kung-fu Generation, best known for Fullmetal Alchemist's 4th Opening and Naruto's 2nd Opening. Very beautiful music.Character - 10/10You'll fall in love with the tough, but loving Black. You'll probably fall in love with the innocent, but kind White. You will end up liking each and every character and you'll find you have a deep emotional connection to them and their issues. You'll laugh, you'll cry. You'll love atleast one, if not all the characters!Enjoyment - 10/10I'll say this now. This takes the cake, easily. It's the best anime film I have seen since Akira. That's a long time. I urge everyone to pick up this movie. You will not regret it. I can absolutely promise you. You will find so much to enjoy, whether it be the animation, the characters, the story, the soundtrack -- you'll find something about it to love. You might even love it all, like me!Overall, I have to give this film, a 10/10. Best film of the year, hands down.
