Junjo Romantica
純情ロマンチカMisaki Takahashi is a regular high school student who is preparing for his university entrance exams. In order to reduce the stress of studying, or so he hopes, he accepts the help of his older brother's best friend, and famous author, Akihiko Usami. However, Masaki is about to find out that Usami's books are of a very naughty genre, and that there may be something naughty waking up inside Masaki as well.Junjou Romantica also follows the story of two other couples loosely connected to Masaki and Usami's "Romantica." Egoist shows the very passionate, but often complicated, relationship between university professor Hiroki Kamijou (whose life has reached an all time low) and paediatrician Nowaki Kusama, who falls for Hiroki at first sight and would do anything to make him happy. The third story, "Terrorist," shows just how obsessive love can become when rich eighteen-year-old Shinobu Takatsuki finally discovers something that he cannot have so easily—the literature professor You Miyagi. There is passion abound as these three couples try to achieve their goals in life while also falling into temptation and anguish with their partners.

*Original review from my MAL.* For anyone that is unsure about giving this series a chance, then you should read this to see if its right for you or not. (look for *)
IF! you switched half the guys for girls people would say this is one of the best romance anime's to date. That is how good this story, and anime are!
Okay here is a little background on me, I am a Straight male with no interest in men or for even watching a BL series, However there might be a few people out there who's Girlfriends really want to watch this so..... they FORCE you to watch this (which is what happened to me.) Before i watched this i knew what it was and i had a feeling i knew where it was going to go. well at first try i almost couldnt stand what was going on, i thought to myself OMG RAPE! and turned it off. then about two weeks later i then tried (got forced) to watch it again. To my surprise i enjoyed this, and very much so.
Story 9
Its very simple but very powering with alot of colorful words. its about three homosexual couples how they live there daily lives, some knew they were gay and accept it, it also shows the people that dont really know if they are gay, or even what being gay really means. It shows there struggle through acceptance, denial, and their love for one another.
* If you dont mind yaoi then this is a most watch, this was my first one. IF you like great romance stories with fun characters and sexually funny moments this is for you. IF the thought of two guys disturbs you in any way then i would try the first episode and see what you think
Art 7
The art, well its art. this has just the right amount for what its trying to accomplish. I cant give this a higher score because there is no need for the Art to be off the charts its a Rom/Com. they charcter designs were nice some of the guys looked the same so that didnt help any, i did however enjoy the silly faces misaki made when he freaked out, when the humor comes so does the silly drawings which were nice and a refreshing change from a typical romance style art.
* IF you must have Brotherhood type Art or a style classic like Mononoke or and art that has an old school vibe like bebop this isnt for you, this is a typical and averagely average Art style.
Sound 8
I cant say it was really typical but it wasnt overly aggressive. The OP and ED were decent nothing great, once again pretty average, the music throughout was the same, however when it needed music the most it got it. Every sappy love speech or new revelation they encountered the music fit wonderfully.
* Not a mozart score by any means, also not some Glee infested over hype. I dont really think theres much to say, but just to be safe if your looking for an awesome blow me over feel from the music and how it makes the whole mood better it does this decently. so if you a sound type of guy/girl not for you.
Characters 9/9.5
They were fantastic, i swear misaki is a tsundere... i dont know if thats how it works but whatever. you could clearly tell after a few episodes who wore the pants and who wore the mini skirt in the relationships. The characters were cute, funny, and dramatic what kept me from saying 10 was the over dramatic parts. most of the time the characters pulled of the role great and really shined but every half dozen episodes it was just to overplayed. The last couple to be declared really surprised me as well it also added in some nice background drama that i thought was pretty interesting and cant wait to see who they work out and how the other characters work out there relationships.
* Well this is a BL series so for obvious reasons if you cant get past that you wont like this, if you can do what i did and just treat the "weaker man" as the women you will be happy with this series. I think if you watch this it will be hard to say anything negative about these wonderful characteres.
Enjoyment 9
at first i really did not like this, it started of awkwardly with a little mis communication along with other things. Then after that moment passed i really started to get into this and found myself really wanting the relationships to develop. just really great.
overal 8.5/9
If this review helped and made you want to give this a shot then chances are you will love this it is a pleasant surprise and kind of a shocker for me that i actually enjoyed this as much as i did.
Thank you i hope this was helpful.

So here’s the thing, I am a heterosexual male and let me just say one thing: I saw man butt. Now that aside Junjou is actually not that bad of an anime. I’m not big into yaoi stuff (well I’m not really into it at all) but I play a game were if I come across a yaoi while trying to find something to watch, it then has to be watched and this is one of the ones I came across. Junjou is a multi-arc anime that focuses on 3 different romance pairs that are all connected in some way. Now since I don’t watch yaoi stuff I personally don’t know how this gauges in that category but I have watched a TON of romance animes and this one is actually really well done. Like, surprisingly so. Most anime that deal with romance are always round-a-bout with the two characters maybe eventually getting together but Jounjou just comes out straight up and tell you. This dude with this
dude, ect., ect. Instead of them being all doki doki and too embarrassed to show how they feel about each other like most romances, this series actually wasn’t afraid to have their characters straight up tell it like it is (well most of the time). All in all looking at it as a romance anime I personally feel as thought they did a pretty bang up job with this….now if only the other yaois I get stuck with could be as good as this.

Do you enjoy BL/Yaoi? If the answer is yes, then I'd highly recommend this anime, especially if one is just getting into BL (though I may watch Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi before Junjou, as it's a bit lighter on the sexiness... but I digress.)
Art: Beautiful boys, no complaints here.
Sound: The soundtrack wasn't particularly memorable, though I did particularly enjoy the opening song, which to some may seem a bit outdated, though I find it cute. The voice actors, likewise, were very good.
Story: The story is split between a few couples - the main story being the relationship between Misaki and Akihiko, the two side stories being between Hiro and Nowaki and Miyagi and Takatsuki. Each of the separate stories distinct, and for the most part, fairly well developed, especially in the relationship between Misaki and Akihiko. The stories are touching, and have plenty of sweet moments.
The issue I had with the plot is that the Junjou Terrorist story between Miyagi and Takatsuki seemed to be random, unjustified, and inexplicable, as it appeared from no where, even if it developed neatly after its rocky start.
There was also the issue that, even though I love yaoi sexiness, the sex seemed out of place in many instances - surely the author and producers could have thought of better premises for such events to stem from.
Characters: I absolutely loved all the semes and mostly the ukes (barring Takatsuki, whose bluntness I found somewhat overly aggressive, approaching psychotic.) They're easy to love and connect to. Most all of them have endearing, often rather humorous, peculiarities that make them unique and wholly entertaining. You're never left wondering how they feel. The only problem I had, other than aforementioned one with Takatsuki, was that Misaki in particular had a recurrent trait of denying his love, or sex or whatever, after every attempt made by Akihiko, no matter how touched he was, literally or figuratively. There becomes a point when one just wants them to admit their love and move on. The shy uke in denial act gets old.
Although this wasn't an issue for me, it should be noted that there are huuuuge age gaps between the uke and seme in each couple - though the ukes are still of legal age.
TL,DR: It's sexy, fun, romantic, sweet and full of yaoi goodness, so if you're a yaoi fangirl or the likes, you'll almost undoubtedly enjoy Junjou Romantica.
