Summary : A Hunter is one who travels the world doing all sorts of dangerous tasks. From capturing criminals to searching deep within uncharted lands for any lost treasures. Gon is a young boy whose father disappeared long ago, being a Hunter. He believes if he could also follow his father's path, he could one day reunite with him.
After becoming 12, Gon leaves his home and takes on the task of entering the Hunter exam, notorious for its low success rate and high probability of death to become an official Hunter. He befriends the revenge-driven Kurapika, the doctor-to-be Leorio and the rebellious ex-assassin Killua in the exam, with their friendship prevailing throughout the many trials and threats they come upon taking on the dangerous career of a Hunter.
Story: I would say the story of Hunter X Hunter is overall very good. Some of the arcs are a little slower. But, these slow points are made up for by some of the other arcs. The story is well developed and doesn't feel like it was drawn out or cut short. By the end of the series I felt like the show had not only came to a conclusion of Gon's story. But, also left open the possibility of a sequel if the manga ever continues. The character's are also very good at pushing the story along and keeping it interesting.
Characters: I think the characters are the main selling point of the show. I really enjoyed all of the characters both the villains and the heroes. What I think Hunter X Hunter does better then a lot of other Shonen as it makes the villains have some actual development. Many of the villians have motive and they don't feel evil for the sake of being evil. This is especially present in later arcs. The main character Gon is also fun to watch grow and develop and doesn't feel like the typical Shonen protagonists. Overall whats great about the characters is not only are the main ones very well developed many of the side characters are also very well drawn out.
Sound: Outside of the great intro music, I think Hunter X Hunter does a great job when it comes to sound. The sound is especially good at setting the light hearted moments and give you a very upbeat feel. But, it is also good in the serious moments adding depth to the situations. Finally, I feel the Japanese cast did a great job at voicing the characters and non of them sounded out of place.
Animation: The animation of Hunter X Hunter is superb. But, what else would we expect from studio Bones. Like usual Bones brought their A game. Hunter X Hunter not only has some great animated backdrops and character designs. Some of the fights are some of the best animated parts of the series. Hunter X Hunter also does a good job of using both a more serious style of animation during the fights and a more comedic style of animation during the lighter parts of the series. Overall this show has excellent animation.
Enjoyment: I have to say there are not to many anime that i found as enjoyable as Hunter X Hunter. When I first started I couldn't stop until I caught up. Everything about Hunter X Hunter is great. The characters are entertaining and you want to see their stories unfold. The story overall is great and outside of the both the animation and sound are superb and worth the watch.

Definitely worth watching, great action and a lot of great arcs especially the last arc. Was really worth watching like 40 episodes to see what would happen.
Wish I could experience it again I had to pick up a Gon and Killua figure.

Hunter x Hunter 2011 may very well be the highest quality long running anime series of all time. What I mean by this statement is the quality of the animation, soundtrack, pacing, and amount of filler in the series. Just for some clarification, I consider a long running anime series to be one that is over 100 episodes. The animation of Hunter x Hunter 2011 is consistently good, unlike any other long running series that I've seen before, the soundtrack is very good and fits the scenes very well, the pacing is very well done, and probably the most surprising thing about the series is the fact that there is no filler whatsoever (filler are episodes or parts of an episode that are not in the source material for the purpose of extending the time period between the source material and anime so the anime won't catch up too quick). Unfortunately, these things are not the only things that matter in an anime. The plot itself isn't too amazing, but rather surprising for a shonen. There is quite a large amount of gore and gruesome events that happen in Hunter x Hunter considering it is a shonen, ranging from decapitation to children being eaten. The plot is about a boy trying to find his father, whom abandoned him at an early age, by becoming something known as a Hunter. A Hunter is basically a professional...person.. I think. It is rather hard to explain because of wide variety of what people who are Hunters do. Nonetheless the boy goes on a journey to find his father and of course a lot of things happen and he meets some friends who help him a long the way, basic shonen stuff with a bit of explicit violence. The characters are rather like-able, including some of the villains. In terms of character development, I believe it isn't done very well in this anime. The development happens way to quick with a lot of characters, some characters have one thing happen to them and boom they change completely as if they are another person. The viewers love character development but in this case it isn't done in an understandable manner in a lot of cases. As a whole, I do think the characters are done well because of them being interesting in one way or another, just the character development isn't done so well. Normally I would give in anime like this a higher score, but the problem is that this anime still isn't finished. There are still a lot of things that could happen which could make it better or worse. Therefor I give this anime a 8/10, worth watching but not something that is worth boasting about at least until we see an ending.

At this period of time, the shonen genre has become a difficult demographic to recommend to experienced anime fans, due to increasingly unoriginal stories and recycled concepts being rampant among the shonen demographic, leading for many people to dismiss it as an overly repetitive, stagnant genre with a few gems in between.
Classics within the demographic suffer from another core problem; while an excellent portion of the classic shonen demographic are truly fantastic series within their own right, the demographic suffers from those classics not holding up in the current time among modern yet experienced anime fans.
Why is all of the above relevant?
With all these conditions in mind, here I am, giving my first 10 to the 2011 version of Hunter X Hunter.
Why you ask? Because Hunter X Hunter is an example of a classic shonen that does much more right than wrong, and withstands the test of time to this day as a classic example of how purely amazing a shonen can be.
Anyway, onto my review:
Story (10/10):
Oh God, where do I start?
Hunter X Hunter is one of the most carefully written, if not the most carefully written shonen to date. The story-line is fast-paced at the beginning, but slowly gains this careful pacing that most shonen series, in particular long-running ones, lack. The fights are carefully written from start to finish, and the way the protagonists or their opponents manage to defeat each other never feels poorly explained with deus ex machina moments in between, unlike more recent shonen classics which are filled to the brim with these kind of moments that anger non-shonen enthusiasts. If you think the series will explain it's concepts in long, drawn-out dialogue, you're wrong again. The dialogue in this series is full of wit and tries to explain the various concepts and themes it presents bit by bit rather than explain things all at once.
Art/Animation (10/10):
The artwork for Hunter X Hunter is nothing like other series we've seen. Despite being rather old, Hunter X Hunter's art looks very different and pleasing to the eyes, with characters, their costumes and the world they're in being drawn with such vivid detail that most shonen can only dream of having. The fight scenes are very very well animation, and studio MADHOUSE seem to have taken it upon themselves to give this series an excellent budget, as the animation looks absolutely gorgeous, with very few still frames and bringing the series to life with some very detailed backgrounds.
Sound (8/10):
The OST is very well composed, though not on the same level as the previous version of Hunter X Hunter. The calm, soothing soundtrack of the previous version is replaced with a more hardcore rock soundtrack. While not as good, the OST is nevertheless very well executed, and perfectly fits the tone of the series. The OST never feels out of place, and the right tracks are played at the right time.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the opening and the various endings of the series, which are more hit and miss more than anything else.
Don't get me wrong, they're still very pleasant to listen to, it's just that some of the endings don't fit the tone of the arc shown at the time. The opening, while great, hasn't changed so far, which leads one to wonder whether they're actually planning on keeping this opening all the way to the end. Not like I mind, mind you, just that I think we can do with a bit more variety.
The voice-acting is the shining aspect of the sound aspect, as the voice actors have done a fantastic job bringing their characters to life. None of the voice acting or roles assigned feel out of place, and while this series may be over the top in it's acting sometimes, it's still bloody fantastic.
Nevertheless, this series still receives a well above average score for sound.
Character (10/10):
The characters at the beginning fit into their generic archetypes, but later those archetypes are deconstructed and reconstructed in what slowly but surely becomes a fascinating character study of morals. The series isn't afraid of taking risks, and goes into boundaries that most shonen don't dare approach. The characters develop because of the plot, yet the development doesn't feel forced or unnecessary and the characters are still independent enough to feel that they don't develop because the plot dictates it.
And most importantly, try not to judge this series' characters based on their appearances. An important theme of this series is breaking stereotypes about other people's appearances, and this series utilizes that theme to maximum effect, so be prepared to be surprised by some of the characters you meet. So yeah, no complaints whatsoever here.
Enjoyment (10/10):
The series is adrenaline pumping but has it's character-driven moments, amusing at times and dark at others, and has wit in it's dialogue that the shonen demographic desperately needs at a time like this in the state that it's become. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
Overall, I grant this series a 10 out of 10, because it's just that good.
Thanks for reading! Feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Note: This is a copy-paste of my own review on AniDB.
This preview will mostly be a comparison between the original Hunter x Hunter and the currently airing remake. A proper review will probably come once the show is over, and this entry will be changed to most likely a blog entry (though it will of course be linked in the review.)
Well then, since the new Hunter x Hunter (which I will from here on forth call 2011) is now done adapting everything that the original Anime (which I will call 1999) adapted, I thought it would be nice to do a comparison between this version's first 75 episodes and 1999's entire TV series and its OVAs, since both cover the exact same amount of content - ending at the same scene, at the same moment.
Hunter x Hunter (1999) was animated by Nippon Animation and directed by Furuhashi Kazuhiro, famous for directing the entire Rurouni Kenshin Anime, as well as Gundam Unicorn.
Hunter x Hunter (2011) is animated by MADHOUSE and directed by Koujina Hiroshi, who has some previous experience in the Shounen department, but nothing really spectacular. His most famous work would probably be Rainbow.
Art & Animation: First let's talk about 1999. Now this version uses a very dark mood in both colouring and presentation during the TV series, but changes to a more childish and classic shounen style during the two Greed Island OVAs. The details of it are very nice, for being an anime released in 1999 it still looks good. It's not very impressive overall, but it manages to do an impressive job during the fights. It's clear by just looking at the animation style and its content that this was made for a more mature audience. But is that necessarily a good thing? Well, during the beginning of the show, it didn't fit very well, as the show had a more adventurous feelings. However, when the series reached the Yorknew Arc, it fit like a glove. Since the style was dark, and the Arc was dark (especially for a Shounen) everything worked perfectly in setting atmosphere. However, when the series reached the two Greed Island OVAs, there was a big noticeable change in both art and animation. The artstyle was comparable to the artstyle in 1999, but animation quality was severly worse. This may very well be because by the time of release, this was when production studios started to go over to computer animating, instead of traditional handdrawn animating. The animation got stiff and lifeless, and that's sad considering that the final OVA was released a whole 5 years after the TV series, yet it looked worse.
Now for 2011. Now this is one of the main things that most people have complained about. 2011 is definitely much more colourful and brings a much more childish feeling than its original 1999 version. However, 2011 is much more pleasing to the eye than the 1999 version in some instances. There are some points in the show where I would prefer the original 1999 version's artwork style, but in the end the 2011 version is much more appealing to me as it gives me that adventure feeling the original version failed to give me. There are however some scenes where 2011 can look dark, but the overall tone is always much more "happy." This is a bit more of a self-preferences, so it's hard to say which one could be considered to be "the best" artstyle. If you like a darker tone, 1999 wins, and if you want a more adventurous tone, 2011 wins. But, when it comes to animation, 2011 is clearly the superior version. While it may not look very impressive during all scenes, MADHOUSE manages to amp up the quality by a lot during the fight scenes. These fights are some of the best looking fights you will ever find in a Shounen. They added smoke, slow-mo effects, camera shakes, monochrome, and much more to make these fights have a much bigger bang to them.
So, despite the tone of 1999, the clearly inferior animation quality of the Greed Island OVAs drags its value down a lot. The very well animated fights of 2011 and it's adventurous style makes it win this round.
Sound: The 1999 soundtrack is one of the most atmospheric soundtracks I've ever heard, at least in the Shounen department. It fits the mood perfectly and has some tunes that I still go around whistling on. This soundtrack is something that will stick with you for quite some time. It is well composed and every song uses just the right instrument and fits every scene the music is placed in. Soundeffect wise, it's not very impressive. It uses a real weak sounding punch sound and the OVAs uses a really annoying summoning sound. And those are just the big things that I noticed, because other than that there's no real power. But, one of the biggest parts of the sound department is in voice acting, and it's... Ok-ish? Some voices are great and fit perfectly, like Gon and Kurapika. But other voices can sound pretty awkward or are forgettable. No one really stands out - but- they do their voicework as they should. Like I said, it might sound awkward or is forgettable, I still can't deny that the voices actually do fit.
The 2011 soundtrack is a bit more rock-like at some times, a bit more of a typical Shounen at other times, but it still has some of these "adventure toned" songs in its soundtrack that are really fitting with the tone. Just like 1999 it has some memorable themes, but with the lack of the atmosphere-building songs of 1999, it fails to really leave an impact on you after you just watched something, but it still manages to wow you sometimes during certain scenes in the show. Biggest example would be during the Requiem scene in the Yorknew arc, when the song even overlapped and replaced the ending song for that episode. Soundeffects are a big plus here, as the fightscenes has big power behind their soundeffects. Background noises fits and there are always small details that you can barely hear, but you can still hear that they are there. Voice acting is good. Nothing spectacular, and the only real noteworthy voice performance is by Namikawa Daisuke, who voices Hisoka, as he does a really chilling performance.
So, which one's the winner? I'm actually gonna have to go with a tie here. While 1999 has a great atmospheric soundtrack, 2011 has better voice acting and soundwork. One can not work without the other, especially when you only think about the soundtrack and voice acting, the main two elements that makes up the sound department.
Story: Both 1999 and 2011 follow the same basic storyline: A young boy, Gon, wants to become a Hunter in hope of finding, as well as understanding the actions, of his father. Accompanying this is the "Kurapika Kurta Clan Revenge" sub-plot, along with a little bit of Killua and his family. The story itself isn't very impressive or groundbreaking for that matter, but it's good enough to make you want to keep on watching, as it does have a more mature way of portraying the story compared to other Shounens, both the 1999 and 2011 version. So, how are they on their own? Well let's see...
1999 took care of the story up to the end of the Greed Island Arc in 92 episodes. Whilst the pacing was pretty slow during the Hunter Exam Arc, due to fillers and creative choices, the pacing did improve later on. However, in the OVAs the pacing once again slowed down considerably. This is one of 1999's biggest downfall, as the show could be quite a drag to watch. While this may not be a problem for older viewers, as Anime tended to more slow in the old days, this may very well be one of the biggest complaints the show gets from new viewers. But besides that, the Anime did adapt the Manga faithfully, even if it was ultimately left incomplete.
2011 took care of the story up to the end of the Greed Island Arc in 75 episodes. The pacing was increased a lot in this version, so much that some episodes in the Yorknew Arc and Greed Island Arc adapted as much as 4-5 chapters. That is a lot, considering that your average Shounen adapts approx. 2 chapters per episode. While some might say that the pace became too fast, I'd disagree, as the faster pace helps you a lot in paying attention to the show, as you won't get bored as easily. Sure, the slower pace of 1999 may help in a lot of tension scenes, but the faster pace still manages to keep the tension intact. MADHOUSE also removed and/or rearranged a lot of scenes, which gives this version a more "fresh" feeling, for both the Manga and 1999 viewers.
However one thing they both share in common is the Yorknew Arc, which is undoubtedly one of the best Shounen Arcs ever in both adaptations, even if it's primary focus is not on our main protagonist, Gon, but instead on Kurapika.
So which one's the winner? I would guess it should be pretty obvious; the faster pace of 2011 helps this adaptation a lot, as the show in overall is more exciting to watch.
And besides that, since 2011 is also adapting at least the Chimera Ant Arc, it already has more value to it, but I won't count that, since this comparison is only based on up until the end of the Greed Island Arc. So no handicap here!
Character: The characters of Hunter x Hunter is definitely the highlight of the entire show. All of them develop really nicely throughout the show (except Leorio, who just can't seem to catch a brake) and/or are defined by their characteristics very well. Gon is an enthusiastic but selfish kid, Killua is an assassin trying to change, Kurapika is an avenger who is after a certain group of thieves and murderers, and Leorio is... Well, Leorio. And of course we can't exclude our favorite perverse clown, Hisoka. What a lovable nutcase he is. Now, as for the shows themselves...
Due to 1999's added filler, we get a bit more insight on our characters and their motives. That, added with the slow pace lets the Anime take much more time in developing our characters, and make us more attached to them. So yes, a negative can result in a positive. 2011 takes a more direct approach and focuses more on the action of our characters rather than the motives. It doesn't exclude the motives in any way, but it's definitely not as thoroughly represented as it is in the 1999 version. This can however be a plus, as action speaks louder than words in this show, which has been proven time and time again. If you want to prove your worth to someone here, show them spunk, not intellect. At least, that's how it's seen through the eyes of most of the villains.
Speaking of the villains, they are far from your typical one, or even two-dimensional villain. These guys have clear motives and aren't afraid to show their emotions if necessary, and they will stick up for their comrades.
But which one wins? I'm going to have to with the 1999 version. The added scenes and the slower pace manages to grasp you into the characters and their feelings much better. That isn't to say that 2011 is poor at doing that, which it clearly isn't, it's just not doing as well of a job at doing it.
Value: Since I'm watched both 1999 and 2011 you should know that both shows together have a really nice value. If you enjoyed 1999, you're gonna enjoy 2011, and vice versa. No matter what version you're going for at first, you're definitely going to want to watch the other version after you're done with the first version, that is if you enjoyed the first version you went for, of course. But which one is really the better one in the value department? Well... None of them. Or rather, both. 2011 definitely has the better pacing and presentation in its story and art, but 1999 has the better character development and characterization, along with soundtrack. So it's pretty much a tie here.
Though 2011 would've won this round since it's adapting even more of the Manga than 1999, but the same reason I gave at the end of the story section applies here as well.
Enjoyment: Now then, which version is the most entertaining show to watch? Remember, just because something is more entertaining doesn't mean that it's necessarily better. For starters, the 1999 show definitely had a more enjoyable Yorknew Arc, due to its tone and artstyle. The slower pacing also let the psychological factors become more clear. However, the pacing goes from okay to bad when the show reaches the OVAs, especially the Greed Island OVAs. This is a problem the 2011 version never succumbs to during its first 75 episodes. It manages to keep the tension and psychology even when it's going really fast.
The winner has to be 2011. Despite not as good representation of the characters, the amazing art and animation during fights, the much faster pacing and so much more makes it far more enjoyable to watch.
Winner of each department
Art & Animation - 2011
Sound - 1999
Story - 2011
Character - 1999
Value - 1999 & 2011
Enjoyment - 2011
1999 - 3/6
2011 - 4/6
The winner is 2011!
Closing comments: Hunter x Hunter, no matter if it's the 1999 version or the 2011 version, is one of the finest Shounens you can watch, due to the more mature feeling and its "almost deconstruction" approach of the Shounen genre.
You like action? You like adventure? You like to watch an anime that is both entertaining and addicting? Then look no further because here is Hunter x Hunter! Will edit this review to see if there is any chances to the new episodes that is worth mentioning this review.
Now I haven't saw the original series of Hunter X Hunter,so this review is only the 2011 remake not the 1999 version.
Tired of watching the same shounen show over and over again or tired of hearing the popularity of big 3? Then this series will changed that and will make you happy again.
Story:Welcome to the adventures of Whale Island, where Gon will face in many situations where he wants to become a hunter so he will be like his father named Ging, and is searching where is he at. Later on his journey after the sailor ship in the beginning episodes, Gon meets Kurapika, Leorio, and his friend Killua along the way where they help each other, and go through bunch of battles by one on one. Later on you will see their characters backstory in each arc where I will not spoiler the part.By each arc, the story has it's stories with the Hunter exam,Zoldyck family,The Phantom Trope, Greed Island, and Chimera Ant.Each arcs has it's great storytelling with some great moments you will be amazed. But there was some exceptions that in some of the later arcs like in Greed Island may get a little boring because it has a slow start and Chimera Ant which it is longer than the other arcs, but it is still entertaining to watch through.Other than that, the storyline in rest of the arcs is very interesting as you keep watching the episodes. Because it does different than what you suspect out of anything you saw.It has no dull storyline to deal with, and it makes you want to see what the story unfolds next.
Art:Excellent artwork. Even for a remake this ain't that bad.The animation looks very crisp with great background color. The characters looks great, and totally look just the same as the 1999 version. Also, the battles are nice especially at the Phantom Troupe which you will find out why I like it.Great art.
Sound:Pretty good sound. At first, the ost is alright, but once you get used to the soundtrack, it gets to be awesome to hear.It also fits to the scenes perfectly that it gives a apporiate hearing. The sound effects is also good that does not make it unrealstic to deal with.
Character:The characters in Hunter X Hunter are the best in a shounen show which is very rare to have all the characters likeable in a shounen show. What makes the cast are even more enjoyable is that they aren't just any predictable archetypes you usually see, they are different just like in shounen where it should work like this. For example, Gon a excited person who wants to do more adventures with also he can be an airhead, but here's why he is totally different. He isn't like any same basic shounen shows where something predictable happens, and then he defeats an enemy after a flash, he takes the risk he is facing, he is also smart on whatever he does, and he learns through on how to improve his battles. That makes the show even more rarer with awesome characters than other shows that have's it's problem. Very memorable characters that does different things.
Enjoyment :Very high enjoyment value. Watching Hunter X Hunter every week is like addiction that you can't stop not just even once of it. The episodes has perfect balance of twists, comedy, and a nice bonus no fillers in this version.Worth the time and effort to watch this everyday. But,One minor problem I had is what I mention the story about it's slow start in Greed Island, and Chimera Ant with least amount of new characters are a tiny bit annoying. Though, the show is still enjoying to watch.
Overall:The show is may be one of the greatest shows that makes watching shounen great again. If you new to Hunter X Hunter or despise shounen but with great story development with great battles, than watch this version and enjoy the ride this has gotten.

Gona try to keep this review short and brief as it is my first one ever.
STORY
The whole story revolves around gon trying to find his father who left him as a baby to follow the path of a hunter, when gon is twelve he goes to pass hunter exam at same age as his father did.
The story itself is quite simple, easy to follow and most of all interesting, the start is quite strong and most likely will get you interested. The series start of by beeing quite childish or so it may appear, but dont be fooled, it took me by surprise in a good way, there is blood and even some slight, not super detailed decapitations. ( its a small ammount of gore, atleast at first). The story itself didnt leave me bored even once.
THE ANIMATION
Its pretty sweet, but that shouldnt come as a surprise since the anime is quite new. The style is likeable. It provides beautiful and great action scenes.
CHARACTERS
In my opinion characters are quite cliche when you compare them with other shounen characters, but they still are interesting. The main characters start off by beeing quite powerfull and in my opinion that is the biggest flaw that this series has. Later on the main characters become quite powerless and useless for long time periods. Its not necessarily bad thing, but it is for me, for main characters beeing powerless and pretty useless for an entire arc is way too long (phantom troupe). Im not saying they should win every fight, but the periods for them beeing underpowered are too long in my opinion. So anyway lets get on to the main characters.
Gon - He is super positive, simpleminded, and in some situations too soft. And it most likely will bite him in the future.
Killua - In my eyes he really steals the spotlight away from Gon, he is so badass and strong, smart, he is the only one that goes trough a big change as a character. And his background is quite something. By far the most interesting character.
Leorio - Just a comedy relief character mostly who rarely is a big help and needs saving for most part.
Kurapika - A character for who revenge is very important. He is also really smart, but when he meets his ultimate enemys, he becomes short tempered and tends to make dumb decisions, that hurts others, which actually is quite realistic.
Hisoka - A really mysterious and interesting character, for most part u wont even know what he is up to.
The things that dissapointed me or didnt reach my expectations.
As i mentioned before, main characters beeing useless, it made the show boring and a bit irritating a few times. But if I look at back it now, it actually is a good thing, it doesnt make the show predictable that much or bland, meaning that its not your typical shounen where MC will defeat everyone just because he has to.
I expected more of the hunter associasion they are quite rarely mentioned or shown (other than at hunters exam), each hunter pretty much acts independently, the hunter association just seems meaningless since they dont play a big role in anything. Expected more of them, not really a bad thing, just my individual disappointment.
Anyway i recommend hunter x hunter 2011 series, its alot of fun, sure it has his flaws, but so does everything, and its still on-going, so the flaws i mentioned might be fixed in the future episodes.
Its definetly the best, mature, dark and amazing long running shounen.

Hunter x Hunter 2011 is well paced with an amazing plot that allows you to understand the characters and see them progress to achieve their goals. The best part is there are no FILLERS (well as of yet). A must watch anime with a high re-watch value!

I'm going to try keep this as short as I can.
First of all I'm gonna compare it with other shounens, the reason I like this a lot more or why I rate it higher than other shounens is mainly because there's less bullshit. By bullshit I mean the MCs (main characters) always winning no matter what kind of situation they are put in. If you watch other shounens you should understand what I mean by that. If you hate the fact that the MCs always win without reason then this might be a show that you should give a try, obviously the MCs in this do also win battles and other situations but it's made believable and it doesn't make you think "well that's just bullshit".
^ Now that's my main reason for why I love this show a lot more than most other shounens. For the rest of this review I'm just going to list some other good things about the show.
Story 8/10
Art 8/10 Sound 9/10
Character 9.5/10
Enjoyment 10/10
- No fillers (yet).
- Good characters, not only the protagonists but also the antagonists are made very likable and enjoyable to watch too.
- The MC isn't super strong and unbeatable. Some people might not like this but for me it's something that sets it aside from other top shounens and makes this show special.
- Although the plot doesn't sound like anything special or interesting (Gon searching for his father), the adventure that Gon goes through while looking for his dad is really good. Also there are arcs where the story focuses on other MCs and deals with their problems which are also really good to watch (arguably the best arc of the show at the moment is an arc that focuses on someone other than Gon).
- The fights are enjoyable, well animated and can be thrilling at times.
- The special abilities are interesting and cool.
There's definitely other good things about the show as well as a few bad stuff (probably) but nothing springs to my mind at the moment so i'll leave the review as it is.
I'm not very good with reviews and you can probably tell, so I just hope this might be useful for some people who don't like reading a long review.

My Hunter X Hunter Review
Hello, my username is Duhvan and I will be reviewing Hunter X Hunter 2011.
I have watched up to the latest episode (Which is 85) and will watch the upcoming episode 86 that will be released in a few hours. :) So far I have enjoyed what I have watched, honestly this review is about the 2011 version and not the 1999 version, but I will include some changes or improvements. I believe even if I hadn't watched the 1999 version, I would of still loved this Hunter x Hunter nonetheless.
(For some reason, the videos i posted on this review aren't showing so I just inserted links instead :P) Try reloading the page, the videos show up if u do
SO LETS GET STARTED "Improvements"Hmm so as many as you may know, Hunter x Hunter (2011) is called as such because the series itself is a remake of Hunter x Hunter (1999). Instead of stopping the series prematurely like 1999 version, the 2011 version is very likely to finish Hunter x Hunter with an appropriate ending. The "improvements" between these series are that the animations are fairly "nicer" now (They are brighter and create a more lighter feel to it than the 1999 version). This lighter feel is one that some may say is more directed to the younger ages because of censorship (Blood, and brutality). Some viewers who have seen the 1999 version may say that many of the characters have been ruined by the new voice actors of the 2011 version, but I believe both of these are great to watch and no hate should be put on any. To me the voices of the characters fit and I love them for who they are. <3 The older version has been said to have quite a few filler episodes and scenes, but not to fear because the newer version's story is more fast paced and includes less fillers :)
The differences in animation personally for me is quite a nice change :) Everyone is entitled to their own opinion doe. Here's a vid comparing em. Dat music doe <3

StoryThe story follows the main character Gon Freecs as a young boy who dreams of finding his long lost father Ging. Gon meets many people along the way and follows his father's foot steps into the unknown. The world that these characters live in are based upon the hunter system. Becoming a hunter will allow one's self to enter many places that need certain credentials and etc.
Analysis of the StoryThe story is comprised of 8 arcs that grow more malevolent and darker each time. The arcs consist of the Hunter Exam Arc,the Zoldyck Family Arc, the Heavens Arena Arc, the Yorknew City arc, Greed Island Arc, The Chimera Ant Arc, the 13th Hunter Chairman arc, and the Dark Continent Expedition arc. Not all of these Arcs will appear in the anime since the manga has yet to be written. The series will end at 90 episodes at the closure of the Chimera Ant Arc. The first arc is one that shows Gon's begginings and how life where he lives is so peaceful and how different the world is outside. The second arc shows a bit of Killua's (One of Gon's friends) past. The pair's past contradict each other like black and white. The third is basically a point where the group trains and learn many new things like most anime with "martial arts" or some sort of training (Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Etc). The fourth arc is one that Gon searches for his father and little by little the story turns darker and darker. The fifth arc is the finale and the arc that may have many symbolic meanings which one can interpret.
Openings, Endings, Ost :DThe opening theme so far has been fairly decent. I can't say that the opening is my favorite, but I don't mind listening to it while the rest of the episode buffers or doing other tasks. Throughout the arcs, they have kept the same opening theme, but changed the opening..... arghh what is the word? ummm like animations are changed :P

The endings or outros of this anime are pretty amazing :D I actually love these due to their catchyness and wouldn't mind listening to them another time. :D However I never knew the first ending was a screamo xD Here's a link! Go ahead and check em out <3 The Video below includes 3 of the 4 endings of this anime :)

OverallI enjoy anime to the fullest and try to find the best in any anime, but if an anime sucks, then it does. :P However Hunter x Hunter is not one of those anime, it's an exciting anime that is one of my top favorites due to it's unique characters and story line. So I hope you guys take the chance to watch it and enjoy it like I did :D Sadly Hunter x Hunter 2011 is ending in 4 episodes and I'm so duh sad :((( In conclusion I still believe this version should not be compared to the 1999 version because it is it's own beast and not one that would compare it to its older version.
