Myriad Colors Phantom World
無彩限のファントム・ワールドPhantoms: supernatural entities such as ghosts or youkai that, until recently, were thought to be superstition. However, when a virus that infects the brain spreads throughout society, people's perception of the world changes as the mythical beings are revealed to have been living alongside humanity the entire time. This virus has also affected those of the next generation significantly, allowing them to develop special abilities that they can use to fight against dangerous phantoms. Haruhiko Ichijou and Mai Kawakami are two of those that were granted such power as Haruhiko wields the ability to summon and seal phantoms through drawings while Mai imbues the power of the elements into martial arts. Together, along with the friendly phantom Ruru, they form Team E of Hosea Academy which is dedicated to dealing with these often mischievous beings. In a world where the real and surreal intertwine, Musaigen no Phantom World follows the adventures of a group of friends as they handle the everyday troubles caused by phantoms. I love Kyoto Animation, really I do. They’ve produced some of my favorite anime of all time, and I hold them as my favorite anime studio… But, even the great must fall eventually, and this show is hopefully something they’ll never repeat again.
You want a premise summary? Just take the absolute most basic parts of Kyoukai no Kanata’s premise, add in a bit of generic lighthearted harem aspects and have the most unneeded fanservice that Kyo-Ani’s ever done. Like, sure, the show HAD a premise, but it felt completely flat and cliched, and it doesn’t help a lot that the show’s story never picks up at any point. Once the story’s done introducing all the characters and giving them all a sob-story, time to go into completely miscellaneous side-stories and ending off with a climax that was barely built up at all, and one that left a sour taste in my mouth. Just… Ugh.
I find it hilarious as to how laughably bad the cast is compared to everything else Kyoto Animation has pulled off. The MC is unmemorable, and the female-characters feel like they don’t know what archetype they’re trying to be. I mean, their designs were decent, if not a bit generic on some of them, except that damn yellow vest. Now that’s an eyesore.
The animation is honestly the only saving grace this show has from being just outright boring and maybe even bad. It’s the typical Kyoto animation quality, topped off with the newer tech of 2016 and you have a visual jaw-dropper of a show. It would’ve been good if they used all this great talent on something that’s worth a damn.
Whilst Kyo-Ani can usually pull off great and memorable soundtracks, they messed that part up with this too. I can’t really remember much of anything barring the opening, and even that’s only decent at best.
Oh boy, what a mess. Musaigen no Phantom World feels so unlike Kyo-Ani that it’s actually somewhat disturbing. Boring premise, unmemorable characters, unmemorable music, unmemorable everything. The animation helped only a small bit. Definitely the worst of Kyoto Animation’s work I’ve seen thus far.
I give Musaigen no Phantom World a 4/10. I usually save that score for shows that are generic as all hell and only had slight bits of enjoyment. And for a Kyoto Animation show to get that score? Yeah, that’s a new low for them for sure.

Bastante entretenida pero no destaca demasiado, no es el mejor anime de la temporada pero cumple la funcion de entrener, la animacion y las secuencias de pelea son muy buenas

A compilation of random moe scenarios and funny cliches with stunning animation, though the characters are all pulled out of someone's arse, there's absolutely no character progression or overall goal of the anime.

If you are like me and have dropped watching KyoAni produced show all together for a while, this is not the show to get back into. Its bland, boring and filled with tons fanservice. Colours are interesting but you might as well go outside and look for a rainbow. At least that has the perk of being healthy and a chance at socialization.
All in all, its a another case of studios not giving their fans what they want. Dont watch it unless you dont have better things to do.

Musaigen no Phantom World is a show that is going to be carried by the animation and fanservice.
It is always disappointing to see a show waste the first few minutes of air time. It starts out with a very boring exposition about the premise of the show. The idea they had was a good way to handle it but the execution resulted in information, that most people would have heard before, being presented with nothing added to spice it up and make it interesting. With better writing they would not have had to even include it as they would have been able to weave those details into the story itself.
The premise is weak. It is basically a show about spirits that aren't spirits but I M A G I N A T I O N. It is a bad take on a common setting. The story is not very compelling and does not show any signs of gaining depth as the story progresses.
All of the characters introduced so far are not memorable and are very generic.
It is blatantly a fanservice anime. I can't mark it down for that as that is the type of anime it wants to be. If you like that then you won't be bothered by it but if that is something you don't like then I can guarantee that there will many scenes dedicated to it in future.
The art style is very nice, a style in which I personally enjoy. The animation is also very nice. It shows promise of having good fight scenes but I have a feeling that it will not deliver those satisfying fights for all the fight fanatics. If the story or characters were a fraction better then this would probably enough to carry the show.
Conclusion - No Thank You
