All too often, recap episodes are needlessly thrown into an anime series. Fortunately, Nana Recaps is handled with care as it is placed separate from the TV series.

Each episode recapitulates the story arc prior to it, thus it is what you would normally expect. However, this is given a slight twist as two of the secondary characters, Junko and Kyosuke, act as hosts for Junko’s Room while we reflect on past events from the TV series. Not only that, there are other minor characters that visit Junko’s Room whom provide additional character interaction in the midst of covering key points from the TV anime episodes.

A lot of the jokes stem from poking fun at guests in Junko’s Room, usually in reference to their limited appearance or trivial role in the TV series. And this serves as the main source of comic relief for the dramatic scenes that we are looking back at. Also, this helps bring the characters to life a bit more than the lack of shine they get in the TV show.

If you don’t watch them, obviously, you won’t miss anything important. But even so, you might want to consider it for the well-incorporated segments of humor as well as the nostalgic feeling of re-watching pivotal moments from the TV series.
