School Days

スクールデイズ

High school student Makoto Itou first notices Kotonoha Katsura at the start of his second semester, freshman year. Immediately, he becomes entranced by her beauty, but his bashfulness doesn't allow him to approach her, even though they ride the same train every day. Instead, he snaps a photo of her in secret and sets it as his cell phone's wallpaper: a charm that, if kept under wraps, would supposedly help you realize your love. However, classmate Sekai Saionji spots the picture, but instead of ratting him out, she offers to help set him up with Kotonoha—going so far as befriending her just for him. Thus, the trio begins a rather impromptu friendship. School Days follows the lives of these three teenagers as they traverse the joys and hardships that come with being a high schooler. In a story alive and brimming with romance and melancholy, the tale of these three students will linger in memory long after the momentous conclusion. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The harem genre more than likely contains the highest amount of wish fulfillment compared to every other genre out there. The idea of one average, bland male being around a great amount of cute females is sure to raise points for the viewer and make them want to be in that protagonists' shoes. School Days introduces the deconstruction of the harem genre, one that it probably needed for some time now.

In short, the story follows Makoto Itou, a love-struck teenage boy who has his "love at first sight" moment with a girl named Kotonoha Katsura. This news breaks unwillingly to Makoto's classmate Saionji Sekai, but she decides to help the both of them out. After successfully getting Katsura and Makoto together, Sekai decides to show her true feelings off to Makoto, surely enough to cause trouble.

The moral of School Days' story does come out well, but the journey to that point of the story contains its flaws along the way. First off, as I said in the paragraph before, Sekai has her true feelings for Makoto shown immediately. How did you even get those feelings when you've hardly known him? Oh, right, we're still technically a harem. This isn't the only issue with character development throughout the story. While I do enjoy the realistic nature of some of these characters decisions through School Days, its still hard to believe at the end of the day when only one episode is being spent with these girls before they decide to do things that you would expect someone to do after at least 5+ episodes of development.

This leads into another issue, which is the characters in general. Seeing how School Days is a love triangle, the only major female characters are Sekai and Katsura. Unfortunately, the other supporting characters that are shown throughout the show don't serve much of a purpose other than to reinforce the fact that Makoto likes to get freaky. A lot. So, they do serve some purpose, but then it just adds to more repetition at the end of the day and makes the show unbelievable and predictable.

The story does contain its plot holes, mainly with characters avoiding or ignoring answers to their problem that would've been solved in an instant. For example, why does Makoto insist on not telling Katsura that he wants to break up with her, even though he knows that the actions that he is doing will really a mark on the emotional state of Katsura? Sure, you could say that it was due to fear of him hurting Katsura's feelings, but, do you seriously think that from everything that Makoto has done throughout the show, that he would actually care about what someone thinks?

Being the Ecchi that School Days is (thanks to the fact that its source material is from an eroge), you can easily expect to find fanservice as something shown over the course of the show, with the obligatory pool episode, which seems to be a big thing that harems enjoy doing. While the amount of fanservice isn't a large issue in the second half of the show, the damage, if you will, of its usage will just make the overall "seriousness" of the show go down in an instant, which is a key thing for the second half of the show.

If there's one thing I'll praise about the show story-wise, would be the great and logical development of Katsura. Starting off as a girl who wanted to be in love with Makoto, she slowly goes into this deep spiral of depression through all the actions that the other characters do to her. It makes sense for her to act in the way that she did act and it was very well-written. Sadly, all that progression slowly goes to dust with another plot hole occurs near the end of the show where Katsura acts completely out of character for no reason.

Another aspect of School Days that I can give a plus for is the shows ending. As I said, since this show is a deconstruction, it has to be proven in some way. The final scenes of School Days shows the wonderful consequences of each major character's actions throughout the course of the show. The thing is, I'm not someone who believes that a show can live off of the merits of the ending alone, but it did make sitting through School Days especially worth it.

The animation for the show is great for the most part. It does contain its problems, but they aren't there that often. Character designs are another plus for showing the characters apart. The OST is another plus, excluding the OP specifically, since its upbeat tone is misplaced within the show. The ED is something well done, being a much more slower style. The background music does leave a nice tone through the events of the show.

So, would I reccommend this show to anyone? If you're patient and tolerant enough of characters acting illogically throughout the show, then yes. Otherwise, I really wouldn't go and spend my time with this show. School Days succeedes in getting the moral of the story to you, but it just hardly does it through the idiocy scattered throughout the characters and with its issues in the story. While the impact of School Days' ending will be felt for years to come, its hard to look past everything wrong with the show.

What the Hell did I just watch!! (Contains Spoilers)

I was originally introduced to this anime by a few friends online stating that it was one of the worst things they had ever seen. So when I was looking for a new show to watch, this poped in to my head, only 12 episodes long so it wouldn't take me too long to watch. How bad could it be?

Episodes 1 and 2 actually left a good impression, the characters were fairly cookie cutter but had room to improve and the romantic story being built up seemed fairly sweet and especially by the end of the second episode I had some high hopes. By the end of episode 3 (in the Very Last Scene, I want to stress this) Makoto, our "Protagonist" goes from a fairly neive, if hormonal, teenage boy, to a pig headed moron who pritty much just wants to use the, at this point in the story, sweet seeming Kotonoha for sex and has very little intrest in any thing else.

Sekai the, I want to say, leading lady was probably the only character in this whole show I actually cared for, though I'm sure the show was trying to make you hate her. Midway, if that, through the series Makoto begins sleeping with Sekai behind Kotonoha's back, but instead of actually breaking up with her, he continues to lead her on. By episode 10 he is sleeping with every female character introduced (bar one who has her own boyfriend but does consider sleeping with him breifly). Sekai eventually revieals that she is pregnant, causing everyone to stay away from Makoto, except for Kotonoha who has diluded herself into thinking that herself and Makoto are still boyfriend and girlfriend.

At this point I advise you skip the next two paragraphs unless you have already seen the show or really don't care about the mother of all spoillers.

Sekai and Makoto decide to raise the baby together so spend Christmas Eve together in an almost living together situation. While Sekai is cooking, Makoto decides to go for a walk were he finds Kotonoha sat under a christmas tree, they decide to go for somthing to eat with Makoto texing Sekai that he will be late home and to not wait for him. Sekai goes out to try and find him and eventully spots them both. Going back to Makoto's house she throws away the dinner she had made and goes home. Makoto and Kotonoha decide to spend Christmas together and Makoto finally decides that Kotonoha is the one for him, they decide that Kotonoha will stay at Makoto's on Christmas and then spend Boxing Day on Kotonoh's boat.

Makoto decides to do the right thing and break up with Sekai, meeting with Sekai at his house, he things that the break up is going well untill Sekai walks out of the room to make some tea, text's Makoto a message simply saying "Goodbye" and procideds to stab him repeatedly with a kitchen knife. A few hours later Kotonoha arrives at Makoto's to find him dead. Using Makoto's phone she texts Sekai saying to meet on the roof of the School. They confront each other with Kotonoha pointing at a bag on the bench insiting that Makoto is sat right there, when Sekai opens the bag she is greated with Makoto's head staring back at her. Kotonoha begins acusing her that the pregnancy was a lie and that she should admitt it now before its to late. Sekai attemps to run away but is stabed to death by Kotonoha after which Kotonoha slowly cuts open Sekai's womb Stating "Just as I Thought". The show ends with Kotonoha lying on her boat hugging Makoto's disembodied head saying "Now we can finally be together"

The Animation was fairly standered given this being a Slice of Life show that was all that was needed. How ever I think the Animation could have taken a Page from Haruhi Suzumiya and taken there aproach to splice of life scenes. Being also confined by being an adaptation of a visual Novel there are some limits to animation style, as well as the limitation with story. With the Normal visual Novel Adaptation, the studio picks one of the female leads and sticks with it, this on the other hand decided, 'forget that, lets have him sleep with everyone, than everyone is happy'.

The Characters are all fairly bland and one note with the only real exception being Sekai, who isn't a great character but actually has some personality as aposed to, the rich girl, the jock, the Rei Ayanami clone etc. The voice acting (given that I only speech basic Japanese) is fairly good considering what they are working with, the highlites being Sekai's Seiyu Shiho Kawaragi and Kotonoha's Seiyu Tae Okajima. Soundtrack wise there are no real stand outs even the opening is fairly forgetable, the only exception being the peice that plays during the last episode (you know the one I mean!)

As Seele once said " The Pain of destruction is also the joy of Rebirth" and beleive me I have been destroyed and will hope fully be reborn with my next Anime Conquest: Madoka Magica

Side Note: I actually burst out laghing when I finished this Show, For the life of me I don't know why!

pouros.angel - 2013-07-27 02:40:51

I first heard of School Days as a psychological anime, and I totally agree with that. This anime shows you how doing certain things and not doing certain things to a girl will hurt their minds so badly it will be beyond repair. Literally. Romance is not a thing to be taken lightly.Story: 8/10 *MIGHT CONTAIN MINOR SPOILERS*It starts innocently enough. Makoto, your average high school guy, likes this girl, Kotonoha, and doesn't know how to confess, etc. Then, Sekai comes along, and helps him. A love triangle forms, and it's basically how an average romantic love triangle starts. Makoto starts being perverted, Kotonoha doesn't know how to react, and Sekai starts "training" him in the art of getting a girl. This is where it takes a turn for the worse. Makoto starts having feelings for Sekai, and they cheat behind Kotonoha's back. Then, 2 more girls, Setsuna and Otome, started to like him, and a complicated and perverted romantic relationship occurs, with Makoto, being the perverted bastard he is, starts to bounce between the girls, having sex with them too (except Kotonoha, sadly). As if it could get any worse, a big plot twist appears. Seriously. I really expected the plot twist, but it was sickening nevertheless. Then in the ending Makoto gets what he deserves. The ending was when I was shouting "hell yeah!" to my computer because seriously. The ending was that fulfilling. Makoto got what he deserves in the end, and trust me, you'll hate him as much (if not more) than I do. The scene was awesomely done too, and it made me sick to my stomach to see how horrifying the ending is. It almost justifies how the rest of the series played out, but not exactly. I found the story to be truly unbelievable. 4 girls liking the same guy? Them having sex and not getting pregnant? Unbelievable! Oh, I also have to note it's adapted from a H-game, so expect many inferences about sex scenes here. I guess that the original game had a harem ending, but there was a VERY messed up ending, which is what they adapted here. The producers are assholes, to not even adapt the WORST ENDING POSSIBLE from the H-game, and make one themselves. According to wikipedia, there were 3 bad endings, where either Makoto, Sekai, or Kotonoha dies. I'm guessing they created their own bad ending, because the anime ending is not in there.Rants aside, the story is great for sickening your stomach and teaching you a lesson: Karma's a bitch and how NOT to treat a girl.Art/Animation: 9/10The art fits this anime, with their eyes animated to show their emotion at any given point. As I said, it also tricks you into thinking this is your average romantic anime, which has its props, knowing how sickening this show is.Sound: 7/10The opening did not fit the anime. It was way too cheery knowing the tone of this. BGM was okay, it didn't really set the mood for me. The seiyuus did a pretty good job with their characters, though I thought Sekai's seiyuu doesn't fit her character, but maybe that's just only me. And I felt sometimes their voices did not fit the situation either. Again, maybe it's just only me.I just felt the sound was average.Character: 5/10I gave a 5/10, not in a good way, but of how much you'll hate the characters so much. Makoto is my most HATED character of all time, whose a horny, selfish bastard that doesn't care about who he hurts and who he doesn't. All he cares about is getting laid. When I first watched it, I really didn't get what's with the hate surrounding Makoto. Now after I watched everything, I know. To wish that he would stop being a stupid asshole and actually get a clue of what's going on was actually a great feeling, and when the ending came I cheered and cheered, as I mentioned. I hated the girls too. They were your generic, anime girls, but still. Clueless as hell, mostly selfish except for Setsuna, who shows a little unselfishness, no character development, etc. The only girl I cared about was Kotonoha, and that was out of pity more than love. Overall, a 5/10. I applaud how much I can hate EVERY.SINGLE.CHARACTER. in an anime, which I thought would never be possible. The only thing that was good about the characters was the design, but that's it!Enjoyment: 6/10In terms of a psychological anime, which I love, it was horrible! I didn't enjoy it, and found myself thinking "why did I watch this shit???" in the ending, despite the good ending. And I was sick to the stomach all the time, to the point where I had to pause the video to calm myself down. And I didn't like it. The first few eps were also a surprise for me, which played as a stupid romance, which I don't watch much.TL;DR, I didn't like it. Call me a hater if you shall.Overall 8/10I found this to be very interesting. The characters I despite with a passion, and combined with a story like this one, it's a masterpiece in dark storytelling.Morals will be learned. Hate will be formed towards the characters. Shock will constantly enter your mind. This is first, and foremost, a psychological anime, so don't expect lovey-dovey crap. Expect to hate, and hate, and hate even more. This is what I experienced when I watched School Days.

whoppe - 2013-07-19 06:24:41

Well...I finished watching School Days (in one sitting) and got exactly what I had expected. Now don't get me wrong, what I expected still utterly shocked and disturbed me in a way that I'll probably remember for a long time. And for that, I ranked this series as a 10.This psychological drama started off fairly innocently. Light humor, boy likes girl, other girl helps boy try and get girl, things get crazy from there. It's all fairly formulaic. But that's about where it ends in its unoriginality and it ends pretty quick.I think it was only about one or two episodes in that situations started becoming less "haha that's pretty embarrassing" to ".....oh crap, did that just happen?" What's more is the situations are all fairly believable in a way that reminds me of how crazy relationships became in high school (minus some obvious stuff of course) and that things can get out of hand fast.If you've taken the time to read other reviews you will quickly discover that the general consensus is that the male protagonist is a terrible person. I completely agree. Now, while I would never wish terrible things upon another person, by the end of this series I was so completely disgusted with the way he was handling the situation it was almost unconscionable. Makoto is hands down one of the most despicable male main characters I've encountered. While is he (as usual) crippled by indecision most of the time this is strictly limited to his verbal interactions with fellow characters. When he does make a decision, it's more often than not one that will make you face palm (seriously, my head hurts because I was hitting it so much). By the end, you can no longer even justify his decisions by teenage hormones but more so that he's clearly a sociopath. His complete disregard for the repercussions of his actions goes beyond "troubled youth" and lends to the realm of utter insanity.By the end of School Days I was so distraught about how do these girls handle all of this crap he gives them that I completely overlooked how messed up they were as well! Now, not all of the female characters were beyond redemption. For example, Nanami seems to be a pretty upstanding person, but that's where it ends. Towards the end of the series you find out how morally inept they all are. Even with seemingly the best of intentions, there isn't a single character in the series that didn't do something wtf-worthy.While it was easy to find all the terrible things I disliked about each character, it's equally easy to overlook the redeeming qualities as well. A perfect example would be Otome. Early one, she's a pretty unlikeable character and for good reason. At the end of all things, even though a bunch of stuff she did was pretty bad, she had a decent heart and even had a "hell ya, you go girl" moment.Another thing I found wonderful about School Days was the art and music. Character animation was all pretty top notch from what I could tell. Scenes were crisp and attractive, but not so busy that it drew attention away from what the characters were doing. Every environment was beautifully done and really draws you in.This was all masterfully combined with a great, classic score of music that drew out the emotion of every scene. If I wasn't so busy trying to cope with the shock of what happened at any given time, I might have shed a tear or two because of a beautiful moment. After reflecting on it further, I think this was done to reserve moments of silence for those times when the characters did something shocking to which I tip my hat. One thing about a musical composition in media is that it is often used to illicit an emotional state at the time of the event to allow the viewer to essentially "know what to feel and when to feel it." This was clearly absent in several pivotal moments of the series to cause the viewer to reel emotionally and feel stranded in thought (re: Buffy the Vampire Slayer s5ep16 "The Body" - which won an Emmy for this btw).School Days left such an impression on me that it made me question all of the decisions I've made in my love life over the years. The heart and mind are terribly fragile things and this series reminds us that we should all be vigilante in how we treat other people. I strongly recommend this anime.

isidro.howe - 2013-07-06 08:20:42

Ahhh... School Days.

Probably is one of the most controversial anime out there both in terms of how good the anime itself is, and the moral standards presented.

As one of the more popular animes out there in terms of how many people have watched it, and the fact that so many people constantly talk about it... I feel this anime is a bit more hated than it should be. It can't be that bad if so many people have watched it - likewise it can't be that bad if you hate it so much that you need to speak of it with a great fiery passion of how much you hate it so.

But let's get on with the review shall we?

Story:

At first, it's nothing that hasn't been seen before... love triangles and the main character with a perverted friend who is popular with the girls for some unexplained reason. Because of this, you will quickly get bored. However around the middle of the show, things start to become different than other similar shows. For being predictable and boring in the beginning it loses a lot of points. Then it sort of breaks from what you expect to happen and that prevents the score from getting any lower.

Animation:

Nothing fancy. Not too painful to look at, but overuse of the same colors and just being bland in general, gives this a 4/10.

Characters:

Makato quickly becomes the most hated anime character ever, and Sekai and Kotonoha don't see these negative points about him. However I find this believable - I think we all know of people who are total **** **** yet are in relationships somehow. None of the characters in this show are likable. But I don't think you were ever meant to like any of these characters. That being the case - they did a good job.

Enjoyment:

I don't think this is the kind of thing you enjoy watching. I doubt anyone thinks they want to rewatch this after finishing it. You may wonder why you should watch it then... I think this would appeal to anyone who simply likes shock value and seeing things they don't expect.

There is no enjoyment to be had here... just a "wtf" feeling.

Overall:

If you just want to be shocked then this does a great job at it. It's a great anime to make other people watch and see their reactions or to tell other people to watch just to be a little cruel. It's boring and predictable until late in the show and it's contains the most hated anime characters to exist.

vince45 - 2013-07-03 20:36:27

I didn't like it and here's why:1.)Characters were bland and generic with no depth2.) I'm pretty sure that the protagonist has a chick magnet somewhere because every girl in the entire goddamn series has a craving for cock with a side of douche3.) The heroines (can you even call them that?) are bat-shit insane4.) Even the girls who come in with good intentions always end up fucking the protagonist.5.) This is not a hentai. Had it been one I would have been able to overlook this horrid excuse for a plot but it's not so I can't.6.) It's shit.Still not as bad as Mars of Destruction though.

rebeca84 - 2013-06-23 14:13:00

This anime will be loved or hated by people, this differs depending on how people look at it.First off we have the main male protagonist Makoto, whilst he is generally nice and seems ordinary, his actions later in this anime suggest otherwise. Second we have Sekai who helps Makoto get a girlfriend which she later regrets with Kotonoha being too weak and not confident with her self until a certain point in the anime.I dislike parts of the anime because it doesn't make much sense, an example of this is Setsuna trying to protect her friend by offering sex to a guy in return for the guy to not have sex with other people other than her friend.Though I enjoyed some parts because it was interesting seeing how it would affect other people around them and how it would turn out. This anime teaches you can't always get everything you want or there will be consequences, though in this case it is to have sex with as many girls as you can with the worst outcome you can get.Overall it was quite enjoyable seeing the main characters mess up but I don't think it's best to watch this anime without being prepared for some of the things in this anime.

keebler.nedra - 2013-06-17 06:01:46

THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS AND NICE BOATS.

What School Days appears to be is your typical, generic, school/romance anime. There is a problem, though. That's exactly what it is. I don't know if it was the creator's intention do to this or not, but School Days pretty much bores you to death, the most ridiculously generic plot, guy likes girl, guy gets girl, guy likes other girl, guy gets other girl, guy likes ALL THE GIRLS, guy gets ALL THE GIRLS. It's silly. It just plays out and plays out right up to the "shocking" end. Which was very overrated and hyped up, the boat was nice though.

Story: 2/10

_______________________________________________________________

There isn't very much to be said about the animation, there were a few moments that stood out as good, such as the scenes at the metro where Katsura sees Sekai with Makoto in slow motion while riding the train, vice-versa. Others? Not so much. The stabbing scene in the end would have been much better if it wasn't so poorly animated. The boat was animated nicely, however.

Animation: 5/10

_______________________________________________________________

There really wasn't anything significant or insignificant about the sound, the soundtrack was okay, I don't really remember any points at which the sound was either very good or very bad. However I may just be overlooking the sounds based on how nice the boat was.

Sound: 6/10

_______________________________________________________________

The characters are some of the worst I have ever seen. You've got Katsura, the original love interest of certified pimp and protagonist of the series Makoto Itou, then you have Sekai, the jealous one who was in apparently in love with Makoto from the very beginning. Even though she did her best to make sure Makoto and Katsura even hooked up in the first place. Sekai was probably my both favorite and least favorite character in the series simply because she killed the dick of a protagonist but was also the hardest character to understand the intentions of next to one particular character, Setsuna. Setsuna is the BESTEST FRIEND EVER who wants to help her best friend Sekai hook up with Makoto by constantly annoying the balls out of him and kissing him, yeah. Next up is Hikari, WHO JUST LOVES TAISUKE, but also loves guess who? Makoto. Shocker. Next, Otome Katou, who guess what? Loves Makoto, and has sex with him. Grand. Taisuke Sawanaga, is a good friend of Makoto, but is only in love with one of Makoto's 1000 girlfriends, Katsura, and decides to just rape her in one scene. Classy. I just hope Kokoro Katsura doesn't eventually take after her sister in picking horrible boyfriends, but she should take after her sister in the fact that she should also make sure to bring the decapitated head of her boyfriends on their nice boat.

Characters: 1/10

_______________________________________________________________

The only enjoyable part of this anime was the boat. Over 90% of the series is just the story dragging on and on and on and on until the final *OMG SHOCKING* murder scene. They literally could have accomplished everything they did in the entire anime in 6 episodes as opposed to 12. By the time episode 4 rolled around I couldn't wait for the series to be over, only to be even more disappointed by the overhyped ending.

Enjoyment: 3/10

_______________________________________________________________

Overall, if you want a boring as hell, anime full of generic characters, unoriginal plots, rape, and random sex, then School Days is the anime for you! I would advise skipping to the end of episode 12 for the boat though and only watching that, it was fantastic.

Overall: 3/10

klocko.reva - 2013-05-31 01:41:07

There are no spoilers in this review.
I just have to say I really enjoyed it. It was painful to watch throughout but that ending was brilliant in my opinion. I appreciate the whole thing reflecting on it now. I'm really glad I watched it in the end.

Story
The story is about High School life and the relationships between boys and girls and how they interact each other and the consequences of your actions.
It also demonstrates that people on the sidelines get hurt to when someone makes a mistake. In this story a lot of people get hurt. It may not be the best written anime out there but it's certainly well executed in my opinion.

I think the story itself is important to see if you are Harem fan. I dare say there isn't probably many harems like this. Although I haven't seen that many myself. I'm just basing that on what others have said about the show.
I do think that this show get's a lot more flak than it deserves.

Tech
Let's start with the art style. To me it seems rather depressive. Now this isn't really a bad thing as I think it helped set up the story well in the direction the director wanted to go with this. It all looks dark and that suits the style of the show just fine.
The sound was in good quality and the voice acting was also well done, too. Of course, there are always moments when you cringe but that's to be expected.

Characters
This is the interesting part for me. The characters are what make this anime. They all show their weaknesses and reasons to dislike them well. This I think is important in the characterization of this show. The whole point is basically to demonstrate the weak points in humanity.
I found that Makoto wasn't as bad as everyone claimed and really wasn't the one responsible for how everything turned out. I think he copped the flak because he was the guy. Rather, Sekai is the one to blame. But not too many people realize this or accept this.

Characters  *Potential spoilers in this part*
At around the middle of the show I found a lot of the characters annoyed me. They all seemed to be against Kotonoha for no good reason other than their own selfish desires. The reason I believe she liked Makoto obsessively was he was one of the first people to treat her kindly. Because naturally, Makoto is kind, whilst he is quickly brought out of this by Sekai and her selfish actions. I'm not excusing Makoto, he didn't do right by what he did, and he made lots of poor choices; but he was dragged there by a temptress.

Conclusion
School Days is a unique viewing experience. It's frustrating, painful to watch and makes your blood boil sometimes. But it also makes you weep and causes you to reflect upon yourself. It's a unique rollercoaster. I think it's a ride not soon forgotten and I think everyone should experience it, even if they don't like rollercoasters.
I think we could all learn some valuable life lessons from this.

My favourite part was the ending. To me it was what made it all worth watching. If I wasn't committed to finishing it I would have dropped it and would have hated the anime. But I came out of it appreciating it for what it was and was satisfied with it.

Score: 8/10

brigitte.wunsch - 2013-03-15 23:23:58

You ever cut your eyes out with a butter knife? Well, you will know the experience once you watch School Days.

Story:
The story is very simple to begin with, but then become very "unwatchable". It follows the school life of some guy (I don't give a flying ass about his name) and his relationship with two girls. There is a loudmouthed overspoken girl, Sekai, and the shy, quiet girl, Kotonoha. The guy originally liked Kotonoha but then like most guys, he becomes sex deprived from this shy girl and decides to screw the other girl for "practice". Blah blah blah, a few boring sex scenes later, a problem arises. This loser guy is now a horndog with no consideration for women's feelings. I'm not gonna ruin this marvelous (bullshit) ending for you, but it is very, um, intriguing. (You ever hear of the famous boat scene? Yeah, there's a reason why it's so popular.)

Art:
The art was ok to look at. It wasn't outstanding or new, it had the art most animes follow nowadays. There wasn't much physical action or movement in this anime, save the ending, so it was near impossible for the animation to fail. The art was probably the only thing I didn't puke at in this anime.

Sound:
The BGM felt very monotonous and I skipped the ending and opening so I don't have a deep opinion here. However, I must say the music during the final scenes were quite nice. It really let the series climax. (haha climax. Get it? I used a sexual joke for a sexual anime!)

Characters:
Fuck you. No, not you. Fuck the characters. If I could meet the characters in real life, I would murder each one for the sake of my own sanity. Well, the guy's friend was kind of funny. He was horny too, but he didn't go overboard and he provided some comic relief. Anyway, back to my thoughts for the main characters. I would chop off the main guy's weiner for his overhorniness and complete disregard for women's emotions. I would stab Sekai with a trench knife for her overall attitude and lies. Then for Kotonoha, I would give her a cookie filled with cyanide and my dog's diarhhea dump. I will NOT describe these characters any further. Let me warn you. You will hate these characters so much, that you will end up hating yourself. Oooh philosophical. School Days suck sweaty asshole, Confucius say.
