From the director of Elfen Lied, comes 2 great OVA`s that will make you laugh and wonder, what really is going on?
    Why?

Well, the story centers on Juu Juuzawa, a hot headed, short tempered high school rebel that wants to be by himself all the time. Unfortunately for him, he is met with a girl named Ame Ochibana that claims he is a king from an ancient kingdom in a previous life and has been reincarnated. While she is his knight and servant and will do anything to protect his life. He, of course, doesn`t want any part of that and tries to lose her any way he can. It does not work and decides to play along with her fantasy. Meanwhile, murders and other strange events are happening around them and its up to them to get to the bottom of this.

The big question in this, however, is Ame living in a fantasy? Will Juuzawa accept he is her king if this turns out to be true?

Answer, we don`t know, he dosen`t, only the people who have read the light novels in Japanese or online, since there`s not an official English release, might know. Even then, they still might not know completely because as of uploading this review, it is still going. This leads to my main grip I have, the lack of information with there being only 2 episodes. The mission that many adaptations try to go for, especially the very short adaptations, is making the viewer want to go pick up the source material and keep going to see where it goes. Many don`t succeed, but this not only does, it makes you want an Anime adaptation because it is great.

Juu Juuzawa is ultimately the guy with big heart but with tough exterior. Thinking with his emotions instead of his head. He is likable, especially with being watched over by a girl that supposed to be is bodyguard from another life. As the story continues, he shows that he grows and starts to care about Ame.

As for Ame, she is very much going full on Momma Bear mode. She`s constantly watching over him, but it never goes to where she is with him all the time. She knows when he is in danger and goes as fast as she can to wherever he may be. Then when she throws down. she throws done, she goes from hand to hand combat to psychologically attacking, then to using weapons. Anything from an umbrella to a taser, she uses or plans to use just about any object to protect her king.

With all of this being said, when they talk to one another and have time to bond, it is very well done. Again Juuzawa, along with the viewer, doesn`t know if she is making all of this up or she does have something wrong with her, even if they drop hints that she might not making this up, they do grow as a characters in the 2 episodes. It never goes to the level of both falling in love with each other, it stays at Juuzawa not knowing who she is and making Ame express more than just her need to protect Juuzawa. Along with other character interactions that are funny as hell or making you scratch your head, wondering where did they come from?

OVERALL
In the end, this just surprised me. It is directed by the director of Elfen Lied, and what ever you think about that series, you have to at least acknowledge that it did have great elements in it even if it did get bogged down from the decisions they made at end. This however, is consistent and is a bit more atmospheric. The Character interactions are great, the animation is great. Is this a perfect show....no. It is only 2 episodes long and it make you wish that some day we can get a proper series because this is so damn great.

Juuzawa Juu is a highschool delinquent that one day gets approached by the strange girl Ochibana Ame. Ame claims Juu was a king in his former life and swears loyalty to him. Soon strange things start happening and Juu has to accept Ames loyalty to start solving the mysteries. Since the show is only two episodes this is all I can say about the story without spoiling key moments. I will say though that the story was excellent and deserves a full lenght show.
For being a two episode OVA the characters are really well developed. Juu is a delinquent as I mentioned and is a character that does what he wants to and doesn't let anyone tell him no. At first he seems like a typical delinquent but you slowly tell that he is a very lonely character and that this loneliness is what has made him close his hearth off. Ame is a weird character. She looks creepy and does things that goes beyong common sense, all in the name of serving her king. She has a unwavering loyalty to Juu and would never betray him, but shows that loyalty in bizarre ways. She is an enigma as a character and you want to learn more about her.
The animation and artstyle is pretty good and fits the mood and theme of the show well. Background art fits the depressing narrative well and creates a suitable mood. The character designs work but is nothing to write home about. At times the motions feel a little off but I overlooked it since it not that noticeable.
The sound aspect was really great. The music does not overwhelm the show but instead stays in the background and enchances the story in suitable ways. The music has big part in creating the atmosphere of the show. Voice actors are great and really fits the role well.
The show is great in almost every way and in the end the only thing I miss is more content.

This review is mostly going to explain some of the importance of the psychology in this production, because you can already read usual reviews of this show, just in case this will not suffice as a review, I will make a small one at the bottom.

I hope this review will not spoil the surprises found in this OVA, I will not mention any characters or events, but the psychology of the series, if you do not want to read it, please skip to "--- Psychology END ---" at the bottom.

--- Psychology ---

Denpa teki na Kanojo does an amazing job in my opinion on creating characters that can be psychologically manipulated (Namely, the antagonists.)

The character that does the manipulating- it's questionable how she does it, but with that aside - is very good at what she does, the writing is very smart.

Mainly in episode two, where the protagonist manipulates the antagonist by using the antagonist's mentality of reality as a measure to change the antagonist's perception of her own reality, instead of common law, or common sense that many shows try to force down the antagonist's throats. That was something I have not seen in a production, or at least so obviously pointed out, in such a way.

As the show points out very well, people who are psychotic, do not have common sense, or the same type of common sense that most people have (Obviously), but to understand enough one others psychology to the point of using it to manipulate, is not pointed out in productions like this very often (In my opinion).

The direction of this production helps enhance the mood of these psychotic, and psychological scenes.

To conclude, this OVA is a thriller, but much more psychological than even your average psychological thriller.

--- Psychology: End ---

Story:

It is more psychological than your average psychological thriller, and very well written. Anymore and it would be a spoiler.

Art:

The art is better than what everyone is saying it is in my opinion. It fits the production well enough. But that's not saying too much.

For and OVA, usually the production quality would be extremely high, due the amount of time they have to produce each episode.

The facial expression are good enough, and you can tell how a character is feeling when it is silent, but there could have been more detail.

Sound:

I actually liked the music in the production, it enhanced the direction and cinematography. But it's not really great listening music, unless you like slightly creepy atmospheric music. Also most of the production has no music at all, which fits the show very well.

The seiyuu do a very good job on they're respective characters, and never sound like they are out of character.

The SFX were done well enough.

Character:

Now this is where it gets good. This is the reason why you should watch the show. I'll let you experience it, instead of explaining it. Besides, I have an essay talking about the character anyway at the top of this review, so anymore would be redundant.

Enjoyment:

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this show. I decided to watch it because I saw it was getting good reviews. It's very short, so I thought it would be a nice thing to watch.

I don't usually like thrillers, especially very dark ones, but this one surprised me with its psychology.

You will enjoy this show if you like psychological series.

Overall:

Denpa teki na Kanojo is a very well written psychological thriller.

If you are interested, watch it whenever you can.

The pacing is great, and you never feel like you're waiting for something to happen.

This is NOT Higurashi. It wishes it was Higurashi and tries very hard, but fails. The plot is so convoluted. *SPOILER* The main idea is there are a bunch of crazy girls (you meet more of them as the show goes on) who believe that one can obtain happiness by destroying the happiness of others, which everybody learns in pre-school is absolutely not true and usually has the opposite effect. *END OF SPOILER*However, they do manage do pack a lot into two 42 minute episodes and there is always something going on.The main character is a retarded brute. The female lead has some irrational everlasting bond with the main character. The art is decent and the sound is alright. Enjoyment was pretty low, unless you think molestation is comedy.Feedback is appreciated. At the very least, send me a smiley face :) or something just so I know that people read reviews.
