Durarara!! Specials
デュラララ!!Celty Sturluson is tasked to deliver a suspicious red handbag as part of her courier duties—the problem is: it is being sought by several organizations. As she makes her way through Ikebukuro toward the place the bag is supposed to be brought to, she is chased by mysterious men speaking a foreign language, and her package ends up dragging many of the city's residents into the conflict. Subsequently, famous actor Yuuhei Hanejima has just arrived in Ikebukuro as part of a special TV program, searching for the best couple to give them a chance to appear in one of his movies. However, Yuuhei Hanejima is actually a stage name for Kasuka Heiwajima, Shizuo's younger brother, and when an anonymous internet user threatens to kill the superstar, this user learns the weight of what that relationship means. These were some very awesome additions to the durarara specials but they seemed rushed and done slightly lazily. I am mostly talking about episode 25, episode 12.5 was amazing and I loved Izaya’s roll in the whole thing, but i’ll talk about the two episodes each at a time.

Episode 25
I know episode 12.5 came sooner but i’ll talk about this one first since it’s the one I have issues with. The main problem was the voice acting. Most of the characters either talked as if they had no idea what they were doing (Izaya especially in the scene he encounters Shizou in person) or without much emotion and seemed not to really care. The animation was not as spectacular as it usually is in the show. However it did have it’s good points. The whole idea was rather entertaining. I loved seeing Shizou interact with Izaya’s sisters, it was hilarious. The fighting scene with Shizou and Izaya was spectacular and defiantly not something you want to miss. Mikado and Anri’s romance was touched on a bit more and they had some lovely scenes together. Overall a good episodes but it seemed rather rushed.
Episode 12.5
The plot is amazing. It focuses basically around the characters being paranoid because of everything they’ve seen thus far, going so far as to believe aliens are coming to Ikabukero, with a hilarious ending.
Summary
Overall two great specials with great ideas around them, but episode 25 feel short and felt rushed with the voice actors generally not putting much energy or effort into their performances. But despite the flaws I really loved these two specials and defiantly recommend them.
