Code-E
CODE-EChinami Ebihara is girl with a strange ability to generate electromagnetic waves when her emotions run high. However, since this "ability" affects anything electrical, it resulted in her having to transfer from school to school when she was younger. As Chinami, now 18 years of age, transfers to a new school, she once again affects the electronic devices in the school, but this time, when another student, Kotaro Kannagi, sees her do this, he becomes obsessed in studying her "TYPE-E" ability. Story: Chinami Ebihara is girl with a strange ability to generate electromagnetic waves when her emotions run high. However, since this 'ability' affects anything electrical, it resulted in her having to transfer from school to school when she was younger. As Chinami, now 18 years of age, transfers to a new school, she once again affects the electronic devices in the school, but this time, when another student, Kotaro Kannagi, sees her do this, he becomes obsessed in studying her "TYPE-E" ability. (Source: ANN) Sounds interesting enough... except for the end and the ending which pissed me off to no end 6/10
Animation: Pretty decent actually, not too great but its not too bad either. Same thing goes for the artwork. 5/10
Sound: The OP is instrumental and it sounds... out of place actually. It sounds like something you'd see in an action anime, not a romantic comedy (and the same goes for the imagery in the OP also). The ED is ok, sounds nice, and it at least is accurate to the show... most of the time. As for the voice acting, it's pretty bad, not the worst, but nobody puts in any effort in their lines or does any emotion whatsoever (even when someone gets injured badly that still doesn't make them show any shred of dignity whatsoever). 3/10
Characters: The main lead Chinami is a pretty likeable lead. She's shy (especially when around others. trying not to scare them with her ability), kind (most of the time, she has her limits), helpful around the house (imagine, an anime where both of the main character's parents are alive), and her actions in the show are believable (mostly). No complaints here.
Yuma, a samurai shrine maiden is probably my favorite. She's cool, mature, loyal, and can show some depth of emotion from time to time as well as have some backstory. Yeah, I know it isn't the most original character-type of it could have been worse, y' know?
As for Sonomi, I had mixed feelings about her. I mean in the beginning I freaking despised her, what with her trying to upstage Chinami and giving her glares everytime she's even near this guy Kotaro (to do some lab tests and discover how to control her ability) or even when she's not there at all. Eventually she finds that there is 'nothing between the two at all' and starts getting friendly towards her (oh and she also reprimands Kotaro from time to time which is also pretty satisfying and funny, in fact they play off each other quite well).
However she's a saint compared to one of my most hated love interests of all time: Kotaro.
My god do I hate this guy. Not only is he blind, idiotic, oblivious, and weird, but he's also a huge dick! He pushes aside his childhood friend Sonomi just to go and hang out with (and dare I say even STALK) Chinami in the beginning of the show just for research! Yeah, he doesn't care about Chinami as a person at all, he even flat out admitted that he was only interested in her ability and nothing else. TWICE! He has no concern or care for anyone but himself (that's what I'm guessing) even though he says it'll be for the greater good and even Chinami runs away from him every once in a while though if I were her I would call the- oh wait I don't blame her. Even that speech about how he loves her felt bleak and I don't think he really meant it. Are we supposed to like this guy? I feel more sympathy for the villains of this.
Yes, there are villains. There are two blonde foreigners named Adol and Mils and they're basically Team Rocket if they had no Meowth and were siblings. They're actually pretty funny, have plenty of personality, and even have some depth to them. Also there's this other guy but he never does anything until the sequel. You just know that it's sad when the villains of a story have more charm than the love interest.
I'll get into the others real quick: Komasutka is a friend of Chinami's, her parents are a likeable bunch and are realistic/relatable, Ma is cute and innocent and has a cute dog named Dotora (remember that), and everyone else is... eh. 8/10
Enjoyment: It was pretty decent up until the end which felt like I was given a middle finger or something... it was just painful 6/10

Overall: It was alright, probably wouldn't come back to it as it wasn't enjoyable as I thought it would be... the sequel on the other hand....
Nah I'll get to that some other time.
Anyways thanks for reading my 38th review~
