Now I should get this out of the way straight away...I am not really fond of anime's in which the main characters are basically so super-powered that they could crush the universe with a slight eyebrow twitch...Sengoku Basara is my single exception...I LOVE THIS ANIME! It's art style is one of my favorite with a fairly tame bit of gore for people who are not exactly fond of that kind of stuff but still action packed enough that it does not even need extreme gore to express the extreme badassery of the characters. I first came into this thinking I would basically be watching a series with characters that have cardboard for character development...I was actually surprised with the amount of development there was in this, it's not the most I have ever seen but it is very good for what you get in this. The story follows a very basic overlook of what happened during the Sengoku Period of Japan mainly following the Takeda and Uesugi clan against the Oda; I personally think that this series found a very good balance between realism and insanity to keep people entertained and honestly it is one of the few anime's that I have ever just went "Well I don't have anything to do in college so lets put on some Sengoku Basara"...In other words this a very very good anime that has a plot you can easily watch without having to be taking notes and action that is to die for.

Overview
Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings, is the anime adaptation of a video game series that goes by the same name. The series is split into 2 seperate seasons and was written by Yasuyuki Muto.
Sengoku Basara takes place during the Sengoku period of Feudal Japan's fascinating history. Many very powerful generals fought during this time, in an endless struggle for power and the ultimate unification of Japan, but of these, one stood out. That man, was the "Devil King", Oda Nobunaga. Amid the chaos of the period, two young warlords by the names Sanada Yukimura and Date Masamune, become heated rivals, but soon begin to form a very unlikely alliance in order to combat the tyranny of the Devil King.
The first season of the series follows the emergence of the various protagonists, specifically Date and Sanada, and their fight against Oda, who seeks to unite the land under him and is more than willing to crush anyone in order to have his way.
Sound: I give it a 7. It was well done, the music and ambiance was well placed throughout the series, but never stood out as being amazing.
Story: I give the story a 9. It loosely follows the actual history of the sengoku period, and adds a few twists and turns.
Animation: An 8. The animation was fluid and well done, but again, nothing stood out to make it one of a kind or amazing. The fight scenes were great though.
Character: I give Character a 7. Nothing special, but the characters were well rounded at least, and they give you a feel for what their real counterparts might have been like, Mostly by the way they are viewed by others.
The series brings a lot of action to the table, and interesting history as well. I recommend it to anyone looking for something of that nature.
