Story: Tamayura centers around a young girl named Fū Sawatari who moves to Takehara, Hiroshima to begin her first year of high school. Her late father grew up in Takehara and this is her first time back in the town in five years. Fū enjoys photography and is often engrossed with taking pictures with her father's old Rollei 35S film camera. A shy girl, Fū tries her best to make friends early on, spurred on by her childhood friend Kaoru Hanawa. She quickly becomes friends with two other girls, Maon Sakurada and Norie Okazaki. After a year has passed, Fū forms a photography club and meets fellow photographer Kanae Mitani. (Source: Wikipedia)

Much like Aria (my favorite anime ever), this story is beautifully told, pieced, and is well put together. Not one episode is filler and each little tidbit/adventure in the quiet little town feels genuine.

Animation: The art and animation are lovely to look at, the colors are just right, the movement is fluid, and the music really sets the tones in each situation they is.

There are morals in this show in each episode and they are all wonderful and realistic ones that anyone can relate to.

Characters: Speaking of relatable, the characters (most of them anyway) are memorable and likeable to see.

Fū is clumsy, but kind, loves to take photos with her dad's camera especially after he passes away and wants to treasure them for all of time. We never even see him but he gets referenced so many times and he sounds like a really nice and interesting guy... I wish I knew more about him though.

Maon is a quiet girl who loves to whistle, Norie is an exciteable girl that loves to cook and try new things, Kaoru is the no non sense girl with some unintentional silly moments too (don't call her Kao-run), and Kanae, the new girl is kind of a mix between all the main girls in the show and its nice to see her develop alongside the others also. (The pink cat Momoneko is cute) The side characters are also great and are hard to describe, you just gotta see it for yourself :)

Some of the characters (especially their voices) are pretty annoying, like this girl kid Komachi who always tries to give her affections to Fū's younger brother Kou while also fighting with Norie (who can also be annoying at times) all while Kou is oblivious to them both. But Komachi and Norie have mellowed out and not been as annoying in the second season and now its kind of amusing to see them like that now (Kou is just a small boy after all so he wouldn't know any better).

Sound: Aside from Norie, Kou, and Komachi, the voice acting is great and everyone sounds just right fitting in with their personas and you can tell they really put some real time effort and love into their performances (not hating on the others, just that it isn't as good as I thought it would be, sorry). Ending is also pretty fantastic (again, have to see it for yourself in order to comprehend and understand it fully) :3

The music is pretty forgettable. It's slow and mellow, but aside from one or two songs they're kind of boring and will not stick in your head unlike Aria's soundtrack, and I know the songs are supposed to be mellow but it honestly nearly put me to sleep it was bleak. Not to say they're bad, its just they're not that memorable to me.

Overall: While not as good as Aria, it is a wonderful, peaceful slice of life that must not be overlooked and should watched by all who love the genre (and photography). I highly recommend it unless you don't like the genres, otherwisem hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and I can't wait for its upcoming OVA coming out...

Pros: Art and animation is pretty, most characters are wonderful, story is beautifully paced, voices fit the characters well, ending is also nice.

Cons: Forgettable music, some minor annoyance in some of the characters.
