Ninja... Ninja were... merciless demi-gods, ruling Japan with their karate in the age of ninja tranquillity. Their lost history was falsified and concealed and the truth about these ninja was long forgotten. Now, in the future where the universalization of cybernetic technology and electronic networks are God, suddenly, sinister ninja souls, resurrected from thousands of years past are unleashed on the dark shadows of Neo-Saitama. Fujikido Kenji, is a salaryman whose wife and child were killed in a ninja turf war. In a brush with his own death, Fujikido is possessed by an enigmatic ninja soul. Fujikido cheats death and becomes Ninja Slayer. A Grim Reaper destined to kill evil ninja, committed to a personal war of vengeance. NAMU AMIDA BUTSU Do you feel it? This is indeed a breath of fresh air!!

Ninja Slayer is a little pearl, just like it was his spiritual predecessor Inferno Cop, hidden in the pile of anime that are countinuously coming out.

Someone might not like it due to the poor animation but it's an interesting style that i really like. In my opinion it tries to awake the kid of our childhood who, back in the years, imagined the most awesome fights just by hitting two toy soldiers one against the other. If that was the real intention behind this kind of animation well, dear Trigger, hats off to you!!

Even if the story might seem pretty standard, the awesome characters with their silly dialogs (I still hear the voice of NinjaSlayer screaming YEEART in my head) and the crazy scenes that appear almost every moment makes this anime a must-watch.

This is just a quick impression from the first episode.
Studio trigger definitely has a unique artistic style, shown in both this and Kill La Kill. I didn't really know what to expect from this show and honestly after watching the 12 minute short I'm still not sure. To me this seems like I'm watching a cross between Kill la Kill and Aqua Teen Hunger force. The animation is edgy and riveting (when its animated). I wasn't quite sure what I was watching but couldn't take my eyes off it. I'd definitely recommend watching at least the first couple episodes before making a final decision, I'm sure its not for everyone but with such a different approach to a stale industry its worth giving it a chance. Guess we'll take it one episode at a time.
