Spice and Wolf II: The Wolf and the Amber Melancholy
狼と香辛料II 狼と琥珀色の憂鬱Holo, Lawrence, and Nora sit down to have dinner together, but Holo's dislike for Nora prevents her from enjoying the dinner. However, Holo falls ill due to fatigue and is forced to rest for a few days. She dreams and reminisces about her past and her journey so far with Lawrence, realising her affection for him is intensifying. Lawrence treats Holo's fever and fatigue by feeding her and balancing the four states, the Hot, Cold, Dry, and Wet. Over the course of her sickness, Holo grows closer to Lawrence, but her aversion to Nora continues to cause problems. When Nora visits her, she is finally able to get along with Nora after they share a joke. (Source: Wikipedia)

Spice and Wolf: The Wolf and the Amber Melancholy is basically just another episode of Spice and Wolf. it takes place in the time between season 1 and season 2 and I feel it is best to watch it before season 2. This episode concludes the story of the first season and brings you to the beginning of the second season.
There is nothing very significant about this episode, nothing in it is necessary to continue on to the second season. In-fact i watched after completing the entire series, but if you enjoy the Story of Spice and wolf there is no reason that you wouldn't enjoy this OVA. However if you did not like Spice and wolf and or have yet to watch the first season, this single episode (although not spoiling any major plot) may be hard to fully understand.
I thoroughly enjoyed this little extra episode of a sires that I love and would encourage anyone you liked Spice and Wolf to watch it.
