Great Teacher Onizuka

グレート・ティーチャー・オニヅカ

Onizuka is a reformed biker gang leader who has his sights set on an honorable new ambition: to become the world's greatest teacher... for the purpose of meeting sexy high school girls. Okay, so he's mostly reformed. However, strict administrators and a class of ruthless delinquents stand between Onizuka and his goal and they will use any means, however illegal or low, to drive the new teacher away. Perfect, because Onizuka's methods won't be found in any teaching manual; he cares about the difference between legal and illegal activities about as much as he cares for the age difference between himself and a high school girl. So get ready for math that doesn't add up, language you'd be slapped for using, and biology that would make a grown man blush... unless of course, you're the Great Teacher Onizuka. Every time I watch GTO, I cannot get the goddamn smile off of my face. One of the best comedy anime I have ever seen.

"Eikichi Onizuka, 22 years old, nice to meet you!"

Has there ever been an anime that you enjoyed so much that you never wanted it to end? There has been quite a few like that for me, but almost more than any other, Great Teacher Onizuka was that show that I wish never ended.

Unfortunately though, all great things must come to an end. And GTO was most certainly great; it's even in the title.

This show has such a nice blend of crude, over-the-top comedy that makes me LOL every episode, with emotional drama and heartwarming character relationships and romance that just work.

All of the *main* students had their own traits and personalities and felt human, and they all developed drastically, which a lot of anime, especially slice of life ones, always seem to have trouble doing. I ended up liking them all, especially Urumi, Murai, Yoshikawa, Tomoko, and Kikuchi (the majority of them haha!), and I also loved Fuyutsuki-sensei, and, hell, even the Vice Principal became likable, his development was one of the best in the series! (His poor Cresta though! xD)

And the bond that Onizuka shares with his students is absolutely wonderful, he truly impacted their lives and was a strong influence on all of them, in such a good way (well... mostly xD). And what an amazing character Onizuka is. All of the characters in this show rock. Well, Onizuka rocks the most!! He's in my Top 10 characters of all time. He's pervy. He's gross. He's idiotic. He's over the top. He's freaking crazy! Yet, he's got wisdom, and he is a badass. He's a true friend, and probably the most likable character I have seen in an anime, I'd go THAT far. One of the coolest, as well as funniest, anime characters in history.

Onizuka is truly the greatest teacher of all time, and I wholeheartedly recommend this anime to everyone who wants a funny, meaningful, and overall an enjoyable anime!

Have a nice day/night depending on where you live, everyone!! :)

A former delinquent turned perverted school teacher tries to help his students dealing with their own issues. Creates one classic anime filled with comedy and hilarious facial expressions

To be fair, for most people this is not something most people would watch due to the fact this anime was made in 1999. But honestly if you are looking for a great laugh, this is definitely one of the most funniest anime i have ever watched

Story: The story is something unique about a former gang leader becoming a teacher. And the story revolves around the teacher overcoming the obstacles a regular teacher could never due, like teach a class full of some of the worst students out there. The story is basically about a teacher helping one student after another with their issues in the most....."unique way".

Animation: i wouldn't be too critical about the animation because it was made in 1999. So nothing really something i can judge on.

Sound: The opening and ending songs of GTO are nothing special , or great but i did enjoy the soundtracks that were played throughout the series.

Characters: Now for the characters, i think GTO did a good job with the characters, but it kinda left some problems unresolved regarding them and the main protagonist. I found the anime to be lacking in really fully ending the story, and left some things we wanted to see resolved just unresolved.

Enjoyment: I really enjoyed the show, i laughed and that is what the show is all about the comedy.

Overall: The show is amazing and is a classic that is a must watch for all otakus.

A funny tale of a perverted delinquent who becomes a secondary school teacher. (His main motivation is to seduce high school girls)

He may sound like a scumbag with what I said above, but you will come to find he is good hearted, intelligent and kind. He's always doing something stupid, but always ends up teaching the kids an important life lesson.

A must watch anime, would recommend to anyone .

Great Teacher Onizuka is a 22 year old delinquent from a fifth-rate college who struggles to find a career and goes through a crisis working multiple jobs until he hilariously ends up as a teacher at a school in Japan, living in the school he teaches. This story follows Onizuka's life from a no-name individual to a highly respected teacher among his students, staff, and everyone he meets.

Note: The Anime stops about half way into the manga (Chapter 106/200). I highly recommend reading the Manga because of this, as well as the fact that there is a spin-off, GTO: 14 Days, that recounts a story of 14 days Onizuka goes 'missing'.

Great teacher Onizuka(or how I call it GTO) is my favorite or 2nd favorite anime so I decided to write a review :3,It's now more than 10 years old and it is a adaptation of the manga GTO which was all made by 1 person Tohru Fujisawa who did also the prequel manga for GTO which are "bad company" and "shounen junai gumi" and the anime was animated by Studio Pierot.

Genre:

-GTO is a very simple yet wonderful school/slice of life anime with very strong characters and a simple but believable story. When it comes to school/slice of life comedy anime some people tend to dislike it and say that all theese anime are crap like lucky star,k-on(btw I like lucky star and k-on :3 )... however GTO is nothing like those anime or your everyday bread anime. In some cases it's very realistic and often it doesn't feel like a "japanese cartoon".In my opinion it's a top anime for it's genre.

Story:

-The story evolves arround Eikichi Onizuka a ex biker who for some weird reason decided to become the greatest teacher in Japan. To archieve his dream he calls himself GTO and never changes himself,he lives by his own rules and his goals and "methods" in teaching are extraordinary.Onizuka itself who is a "dumbass with 4 strong limbs and no brain" isn't teaching his students in math or physics which we all know are the "most important subjects EVAR",in Japan usually all parents and teachers always tell the students how important a degree is and how you should study a lot to have a good career,Onizuka on other hand teaches something much more, something much more valuable,he teaches them how to be great people/adults and he teaches them about friendship fairness and life in general. To quote John Lennon(btw he was awesome):“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”And this kinda long quote is basicly Onizuka in a nutshell. The story itself has a lot of twists but nothing really extraordinary or special,in fact the story part is somehow weak which shouldn't suprise you a lot if you are familiar with other school/slice of life anime.

Animation:

-Like I said it's a an anime which is now older than 10 years so don't expect it to be anything like fate/zero,however I have to say that for it's time and looking on some anime like Cowboy Bebop or Trigun compared to them GTO absolutely doesn't lack in any point when it comes in animation, and that's one of the reasons I'm giving it a 9 also the face expressions of Onizuka are briliant and seriously I can't remember any anime where I saw so good and fluid face expressions.

Sound:

-I first saw GTO with a sub and as far I can tell the Japanese dub is brilliant(I don't speak Japanese),also I watched GTO with couple of friends with a english dub which is kinda bad but very fun to watch same as Golden boy.The music and sound effects are gorgeous and I still listen to the openings, endings and music from GTO so good it is,it is also available for you to listen to the whole GTO playlist for free on Grooveshark(just type in Great teacher onizuka),btw don't think that I always listen to music from anime but GTO is really outstanding and very good,it actually "breathes" thanks to the music.

Characters:

-The creator of the GTO manga once said that when he created GTO he didn't have any plans about the story he was just thinking "What would Onizuka(the MC) do?" and "What will happen next to him".And speaking about characters thanks to this I believe that it was able to create one of the coolest and most unique "heroes" in anime/manga history which is Onizuka Eikichi 22 year old virgin. The supporting characters are also very unique and cool, and they really mean something to me I can really relate and feel with them. For me the characters are probably the most important in a commedy or school/slice of life anime and GTO with it's amazing cast deserves the highest grade possible.

Enjoyment:

-The enjoyment part is very important for an anime of such a genre and GTO also masters that excelent. The commedy is very "pure" but very funny.I usually recommend this anime to all my friends and people who usually don't like anime, and thanks to it I really made new friends with this anime and had a great time watching it.This anime never gets old(at least not for me) and no mather how I feel I can always watch it,currently I've seen GTO once through and 2-3 times a couple of episodes with friends. It really starts great(thanks to it's first 40 minute episode) and after every episode it gets better and better

Last word:

-To be honest I like the both the manga and anime a lot,and this review is very long,so thx to everyone who is reading this long "bullshit" fanboying of me about a "japanese-cartoon".I however recommend this anime to simply everyone,no matter of what religion, sex or age.For similar anime I recommend:
golden boy
welcome to the NHK
Gintama.

Thanks for reading.

Peace I'm out :)
