This is probably my least favorite magical girl aside from Happiness! I watched it only because I thought the premise was interesting enough. I thought the anime looked cute, but then I learned it was an adaption of an erotic visual novel game. Curious, I picked it up during the summer of 2013 when I was watching Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou.
So, the story is this, basically: introvert guy, Masaharu runs into the new girl in school, Sumomo Akihime. The two of them are the only two members of the gardening club. He accidentally drinks an elixir and turns into a cute stuffed animal whenever the moon comes out because of it. The only way to turn back to normal permanently is to find a girl to collect the seven star drops (which are the colors of the rainbow). The girl is Sumomo. Later on, Masaharu and Sumomo form a relationship, as Sumomo collects the star drops for "Yuki-chan" (what she calls stuffed animal Haru.) And of course, it would never be that easy as Sumomo later gets a rival for these star drops.
First of all, this story is very typical seeming for a seinen (it can't be a shojo; it's base off an erotic video game.) The premise started out fun, but got really annoying as the two formed a relationship. Not only that, the story was so freaking predictable. I saw the two of them forming a romantic relationship so early that I wasn't even pleased when I was right. Not only that, their relationship was annoying, tacky, and typical. It was so annoying and I hated the anime so much for this. It gets worse. (Spoiler.) Masaharu can't tell Sumomo that he's "Yuki-chan", but she figures out anyway. And then it gets even worse from there. They pull the "lose memory" plot twist where Haru will lose all his memories of that entire time he was stuck as "Yuki-chan" which is actual bullcrap and expected. This anime is so cliche that I hated it. It was typical, cliche, annoying and a very predictable story. I wasn't captivated by it at all.
The animation wasn't anything special, but the art is very cute. That's all you're getting out of me on this one.
The music? TERRIBLE. Very preschool and babyish. You won't believe how much I hated the sound in this anime. There was nothing good about it. It was so preschool, and I really hated that. Sounded like something you'd hear in a little kids toy, and that was the worst thing about this show.
The characters are terrible. None of them are even likable.
Sumomo is very Mary Sue. She's very annoying and very typical. I hated her so much, and the fact that she had no development at all was why I hated her so much. Sure, she gets over her fear of water, I don't care. She's still an annoying character and not a protagonist I will ever like whatsoever.
Masaharu wasn't very good either. Sure, whatever, he developed a little, I guess. But his personality was just aggravating, and I didn't like him at all.
All the other characters annoyed me just as much. I didn't like any of them. That's an unachievable record for me. I always at least like one character in a series, even if I hate it. But not this one.
I didn't enjoy this at all. Just the first four episodes were enjoyable. It was so predictable, and the only reason I kept on watching it was because it was magical girl.
Verdict: it's bullcrap. Don't watch it.
